So I've been dreading writing this review, but after the last 4 experiences I've had myself, and hearing my husband's complaints, it's about time. Taco Mac was always my go-to place when I hung out with the guys to watch a game or even just grabbing some food before a hawks game, and unfortunately it seems that I will need to find a new option. Apparently Taco Mac has been bought out by another company now (that was what the waiter told me when I asked what happened to them), which seems to be running this chain into a sports-themed Chile's (no, that is not a compliment). I've been here 4 times in the past 5 months and each experience has gotten worse. First, they changed the menu and got rid of my favorite item (the Hollywood). If you even try to order it (which is just a chicken sandwich with Swiss cheese, mushrooms, bacon & honey mustard) they will either tell you that they're not allowed to place that order (yes I've been told that) or that they don't even have the ingredients to make it any more (not true - all of the ingredients are ingredients in other items still on the menu). OK, you want to change the menu, fine - I'll let you have that, but here's where it has gotten really bad. One, they put silverware in plastic cups (not wrapped, just dumped in) on the tables. The last time I ate here, we didn't have any on our table - I kid you not - our waitress walked over to a table waiting to be cleaned off and grabbed the cup of silverware and put it on our table. We were completely grossed out - that is definitely not sanitary and I'm pretty sure that would not pass a health inspection. We asked more silverware, which she brought another cup (this time not from a table we could see) so we just had to check each fork & knife to make sure they were not used. Two, it's just the little things, such as no more cloth napkins - now they use paper, no more coasters, the brand of ketchup on the tables, etc. Also the staff has changed a lot - they used to be nice and actually checked up on you - the last time I was here I went for 45 minutes before ever receiving my drink - and forget her ever asking if I wanted a second (which I did since it took another hour to get our food). I wish my experiences were just flukes, but my husband has complained all football season about how downhill this place is going - and he said they even tried other locations which were no better. My husband and his friends have been going to the same location to watch Sunday football for 5 years and they have finally had enough and are now trying to find a new option. I'm not sure why Taco Mac sold to a new owner, but the new owners need to get their act together and stop being so cheap. read more

Decent prices, huge beer selection, decent food. The service was slow and less than personable, but it's a bar atmosphere so you can't expect much. We are interested in their brewniversity thing going on, seems like a cool way to keep people coming back. The Asian sesame sauce is delicious, the medium Buffalo was ok. We went to this Taco Mac for my fiancee's 21st birthday, and it was the only bad part of the night. We literally could not wait to leave. First of all, it was SO crowded. Granted, they cannot help this, and we were quickly seated once we settled to sit outside, but it was pretty unpleasant. This was only the beginning, however, to a very disappointing visit. When the server finally came to our table, we informed her that it was my fiancee's 21st birthday. She told him he could get a free shot or a piece of cake. Awesome. The problem came when she asked for his ID, which was perfectly valid except that it expired the next day. She asked for the IDs of every one who would be drinking and took them to her manager, not to return for about 20+ minutes, during which time, we did not receive any of the food or drinks we ordered. I understand their policy requires that they do not accept expired licenses, but it seemed ridiculous that she (1) took ALL the licenses of the people at our table and (2) could not seem to return in a timely manner. Later, her manager came by, and he was friendly enough and explained the situation and asked for several forms of ID (student IDs, insurance cards, etc.) that could verify their identities, which was a bit insulting, and when the waitress finally brought us our drinks and food, she was still incredibly rude, slow, and unapologetic for the inconvenience. Don't go here unless you want to be sincerely frustrated and disappointed. This experience almost ruined an otherwise totally pleasant evening. I should also add, in their defense, that the food was delicious (especially the salsa!), but the service made it a very unsatisfying experience. Seriously, go to Chili's, TGI Friday's, or one of the other "All-American" chains. These places are not one of a kind. Maybe Taco Mac should remember that. read more

Really. Tonight, we headed out to the 'Mac with friends from out of town who'd flown in today from MN. They'd mentioned they wanted a good place for beers, and I knew they'd been open the past couple of days and would suit the bill well. Great beer selection, great wings and other things. So, we were excited to take them there. The roads were totally cleared all the way from Smyrna, as a matter of fact, we'd been out on them all day, and after the snow and ice from the day before, all the snow and ice had completely melted. Roads were fine. Came in, and were seated after a very reasonable time. We waited about 10 minutes for someone to come by and take our order. We ordered some chips, salsa and queso and some beers. Those came about 10 minutes later. And the server took our food order. I ordered a single order of hot wings, and my wife ordered a BBQ chicken flatbread. Our friends ordered boneless wings and chicken tenders. And then we waited. And after eating chips and salsa, with nothing to drink (because the server didn't come back to check), he finally came and brought us waters out. The food came out about 30 minutes from ordering it. The place was busy, no more busy than any other time we've been there, as a matter of fact, we usually have to wait longer than we waited tonight. So, how was the food? Well, my wings were good, they seemed fresh. My friend's chicken fingers were fresh, and he thought they were fine. But my wife's flatbread was cold and my friend's boneless wings were cold. And because the server didn't come back to check after the food had been brought out, they just sat. When he finally did come around to check, they asked that the food be replaced. After about 15 minutes, the came back, surprised that the food had not been brought back, at which point they asked that the food just be taken off, since we were all done, and had been there for so long already. He said ok, then about 5 minutes later brought the food out, explaining the food would be on the house. The guy was just not there the whole time. We had no silverware (we had to ask another server for some), no napkins and nothing to drink. They'd already decided they were just ready to go, and since we were heading out of town in the morning, taking it to go just wasn't a good option, either. So, they gals declined and just asked for our checks. About 5 minutes later the manager (Adam) came out again with the food, and the gals stated again they were just ready to go. Here's where I get frustrated. He explained to me that they were short-staffed and were doing the best they could. He said the guy was covering a bunch of people. Now I can understand if weather conditions were bad, roads were bad and people just didn't show up, but all the roads everywhere were fine. It's not my fault they were short-staffed, it's the manager's fault, and does that mean I should expect bad service because of it? Because if that's the case, they should have laid out those expectations when we entered, and I'd have just went somewhere else. Our expectation was that we'd get great food, great service and a great beer selection. And that's based on not hearing otherwise. If they had someone that didn't show, and they couldn't get any other servers to come in, the manager should have stepped in to help, and the truth is the first time I saw him was when he came to our table when we were ready to leave. He didn't come when the food was first sent back. I didn't see him wandering around checking on tables (which I've grown accustomed to, as service is usually a non-issue at Taco Mac locations), the first I saw of him was when were ready to leave. His nonchalant attitude turned off my friends, too, who were surprised at his attitude, given the service they'd received (or not received) all night. We've had generally great experiences at our visits to Taco Mac, and love that they're a great local fixture, but I won't be back to this location (the closest to me) for a while. The manager's attitude, the server's inability to do his job well (I mean you sell hot wings, then you don't return to refill guest's glasses, offer another beer or at least water?) mean there are management problems that need to be resolved at this location. read more

I have been in Atlanta almost six years and have never tried you guys out. A friend reccommended that we go to Taco Mac for a late night snack. I ordered the wings Habanero BBQ/Lemon Pepper and they were excellent. Three things I live by when looking for great restaurants. Great Food, Great Service, and Great Prices. I used to live in this place and was a long time patron (I've been coming here since the location was a Jocks n Jill's). We moved away (we're a military family) and were so excited to come back and continue on our Brewmaster University Education! I'm very very disappointed. The FRED closed, and lately this Taco Mac location just seems to mess everything up. My last 3 visits to this location over several months have all had similar accounts to my example below. Unfortunately 3 strikes and you're out. Especially in the restaurant-smorgasbord that is Atlanta...where I literally have hundreds of options. We were seated by the host and NOBODY acknowledged us sitting at the table for 10+ minutes (yes...I'm an obstacle illusion), which is when we had to flag anyone we could find down (this time we asked for the manager)....it was Sunday night, they weren't busy. The manager took our orders for drinks (2 beers, 1 iced tea). Our waitress showed up and bought 1 beer, then the manager brought 2 beers (1 was ours the other wasn't, and she took that away), then the waitress came back with another beer (not what we ordered either...but she left it....which made my husband happy) and they forgot my iced tea. We ordered food, my salad came but we had no utensils. I had to wait for 5 minutes (after asking the host and our waitress) for someone to find me a fork. I was so hungry I started eating with my fingers.....don't judge......you'd do the same. When our food arrived they messed up one of our orders (we didn't want sour cream...We saw our server write it down...so this was a kitchen mistake). My buffalo chicken strips had 3 spots of buffalo sauce on them...and were cold and rubbery. I hope they take strides to get better. I miss my old Taco Mac. Honestly one of the worst taco Mac experiences that I've ever had, or the worst restaurant experience in general. We sat down and our waiter, Lamar, brought us waters right off the bat, which was great. We ordered the spinach dip and that also came out promptly. As we ate the dip we realized the chips were stale but we were hungry so we ate some of them anyway but favored the pita bread that came with the dip as well. We were done with our appetizer for a good 15 minutes before our waiter re appeared. We were wondering what had happened to him. We ordered our food and it was mediocre at best. I kindly asked the waiter for a different dressing and a side of buffalo sauce. He literally looked around and said, "maybe I can get someone else to get it." I clearly looked weirded out that he said that because then he went to go get it himself. We had to look around for our waiter constantly to fill our drinks and when he did come to the table he wouldn't fill everyone's drink even when it was clear there were empty glasses, and would walk away before we could ask for more. It was ridiculous. Either Lamar was a bad waiter or they are severely understaffed. We told him at the end of the meal about the chips and he gave us an excuse that all the waiters had been hearing that and had told the manager. If that's true the management also has an issue. That's completely wrong to serve chips that you KNOW are stale. There was no "I'm sorry" or "what would you like me to do?" From him. Ridiculous and bad customer service. I work in a service industry and the customer should always be right and sometimes you do have to apologize for things even if they are not your direct fault. This restaurant needs a major reality call. Taco Mac should be a reliable neighborhood staple but it failed in my books or at least this location. Update: they emailed me and asked me to respond, and I did. I never got a call from them when I gave them my number. Just refund the damn meal to my dad...I don't really want to come back for a second try because it was that bad. read more

I've been in ATL for 11 years and am still trying to understand the popularity of Taco Mac. Their food is mediocre, at best. I've yet to find anything on their menu that really stands out. I will say that I've been to about 5 of their locations and the Prado TM tends to have the best food (but that's not saying much). Be prepared for a loud environment, no matter which TM you visit - actually seems louder than your typical sports bar. The claim to fame of the chain is their Brewniversity program, which is nothing more than a gimmick to keep people coming back to spend $$, trying new beers and earning credits towards "degrees." There are other (quieter) venues with MUCH better food where the beer selection is equally as good, such as The Porter in L5P. Will I keep going back to TM? Yes. I have to support my friends in their Brewniversity pursuits. :\ read more

This is just like any other Taco Mac with the food and beer choices, however, the tap tables are pretty cool. If you are looking to sample 3 different beers with a group of 4-5 people then it's great! You pay per ounce and the taps are right at the table! Prices aren't too bad the only downside is if you get seated at a table with three beers you don't like or don't want. But then you can always order from the server. This place has plenty of seating: high tops, low tops, bar, booths, inside, outside. As far as Taco Mac's go this is one of the best. But if you don't like Taco Mac then even the tap tables aren't going to make you like this location. read more

I had never been here before, but met a friend for drinks tonight. We ordered a pitcher of margaritas to share. I am a lightweight- usually get buzzed on one drink. 3 Rita's later - nothing. I could not taste any tequila in the drinks - not even a hint. Bartender insisted there were 6 shots in the pitcher - I say no way. And my dinner never got made - had to ask twice where it was - my friend got hers no problem. They did take mine off the bill, but that did not make up for spending $30 on a pitcher of sweet and sour! If I ever come here again - big if - I'll be drinking beer I guess. And FYI - it's very noisy, so not where you want to go to sit and chat with someone. read more

But my most favorite dish has been taken off the menu & I'm disappointed...the chipotle turkey sandwich. I'm not a drinker, but their vast selections of beer on tap really brings in the crowd. I love the fact that they have so many TV which is great to watch sporting events!! They also have a large selection of beer, draft and bottle. I ordered a chicken salad which was pretty good. We come here all the time and at this point it's gone down hill very fast. Two times in a row our service has been terrible. It takes forever to get our beers and the food has come out wrong. We love their beer menu and it's close to home - that's why we keep coming back. Past two times we have ordered nachos - both times it was missing the queso. How can you have nachos without cheese?! I would give this place five stars as it is a great venue good food from this type of restaurant fantastic TVs are watching sporting events but the last two times I've visited the service has been pretty poor. The waiter that I was dealing with was incredibly rude and seem like he was trying to do speed service even though he may have been in the weeds his attitude was horrible. Today I ordered takeout from somebody whose name begins with C incredibly rude and unfriendly on the phone should not be in a position where she is dealing with customers if that is her attitude. I live in the area where this restaurant is located and like it but would take pause going to it often due to the poor service and rude attitude. In addition one of the managers came over to my table and seem to be quite confrontational when I complained about the service one night. He was very young and said that they were understaffed and it was not his fault. It look like he was looking for an argument. Someone that had work in that industry for almost 10 years I know the poor service and poor attitude will drive business away. I'm only writing this review because I do like the restaurant and the concept and I'm hoping that the owner or franchise owner or whoever owns the place will read this and sort out very bad attitude that exists. read more

Stopped in with family on Mother's Day. Major disappointment. There are too many options out there to give your money to this failed location. The place wasn't crowded and my buffalo chicken sandwich took forever and both the sandwich and especially the fries were room temp. Told what I assumed was the manager and he rushed to fix it with 2 orders of fries and a sandwich which didn't look anything like the first and had 3 giant tomato slice with both ranch and blue cheese dressing. I ordered only BC. He never came back around to check on us and I had to track our server down for the bill. There were less than 10 tables occupied. I did reach out to the organization via the contact info on the receipt. On which they asked if they could contact me. I replied sure. I know Taco Mac is a chain but I actually still enjoy going. I met a friend for lunch and we had a great time. The beer was flowing and the food was good. Since it was lunch I didn't want to overstuff myself so I decided on the Chopped Cobb Salad, minus the bleu cheese crumbles. Not only do I simply enjoy the Taco Mac at Prado, but I have a special place in my heart for this specific location and always enjoy making my way here for lunch on my days off from work. This was the first Taco Mac that I ordered a beer at, the location where I created my Brewniversity account, the eatery that my dad and I often enjoy meeting at when he is in town and it is the closest location to where I live. Only a couple of times have I not drank or eaten at the bar when I have been here, so most of my opinions are based on the service there; for some reason, my experiences have been better at the bar in comparison to at a table. Either way, this is my favorite Taco Mac. Aside from the beer, what makes this location so appealing to me is that it immediately feels far more open and inviting than most of the other spots that I have been to. The beer wall is awesome and never fails to feature something new and interesting to me; this is saying something given the extensive list of beer that I have tried and my background in beer. The reach-in fridge behind the bar would be enough to put Taco Mac miles ahead of the competition in regards to selection and diversity. However, this just is not enough to Mr. Fred Crudder, Taco Mac's Beverage Director, and to further enhance the beverage selection he circulates 140 beer on tap at any given time, you know, just in case the 200 or so bottles behind those glass doors are not enough. Additionally, the bar crew has always been awesome and a fair few of the bar staff have remembered the styles of beer that I generally enjoy the most and are always quick to offer opinions and samples to mull over. The food here is what it is; you would be a fool to go in expecting upscale cafe dining or many waistline-friendly options. That being said, my standby and favorite option on the Taco Mac menu is the Elmwood Burger; the combination of deep-fried onion rings, bleu cheese and a mid-rare beef burger is just too much to deny myself. When I am in the mood for a big lunch this is the perfect spot and I have to say that I really enjoy the environment at the bar when it is not crowded and when I can chat beer a little with whomever is working. I love talking beer and hearing/learning about what other people are digging right now! When I want to grab a beer and casual bite in my neck of the woods, one of the only things that can keep me from hitting Taco Mac Prado is their sister pub, The Fred, that is located directly below their outdoor patio-dining area. If you like the feel of a sports pub and don't like the crowded nature of most game-centric locations, this Taco Mac is the most likely to suit your needs. The bar staff, and most of the wait staff that I have encountered, rocks, the food is guiltily delicious and the beer is off the charts! read more

NOT my favorite Taco Mac by any means. It looks like so much fun with a HUGE bar, tons of t.v.s & lots of gathering space, but I much prefer the atmosphere "down stairs". ; ) Most of the time when its a taco mac kinda day I fully enjoy a "know it all" bar tender, but today I was not in the mood to have someone tell me & my boyfriend (who has an extensive knowledge on beers) that they know their "wall better than we do" which is most definitely the case, but we also know our "list" better than you do...so...lets work together... However the girl did know her stuff & gave us some great recomendations, but when it came time to check out she put it all on one check which meant I did not get credit for mine...womp, womp, womp. : ( Maybe I am just having a bad day today & shouldn't be yelping about it. LoL End result...I LOVE Taco Mac & this one imparticular had an EXTENSIVE list of beers that I had always wanted to try & finally did (grumbles that they aren't on HER list) & I suppose that's what a resturant should be rated on, not the service or personalities of people. She didn't ruin the experience & actually ended up warming up once she noticed that we come in peace. : ) read more

Great place to watch the game, hang out and have a beer, or any time with a big group. The nachos are a must. Portions are large - my fiance and I ordered the nachos and split a single order of fajitas and left stuffed! The atmosphere is what brings people back. This one is particularly nice. This is not my first experience with this taco Mac but it will definitely be the last. The service is by far the worst no one greets you when you come in, if you're waiting for a to go order the staff walks by you and doesn't once ask if they can assist you. You can see into the kitchen where staff is playing with their hair while preparing ppls food while others have their hand in there shirt coming out of the kitchen ready to service guest how unsanitary. The one star is for the kind lady (wish I knew her name) who finally helped me because no one else cared. I'll take me business to a more professional establishment. read more

Service was good and food was alright. I'd recommend the tater tots! Only thing that bugged me is that I spent upwards of 3 dollars for an "oven baked Mac and cheese" side that was LITERALLY kraft brand. I've only seen Kraft served as kids meals at Friendlys and places similar, and never as an adult side that wasn't even labeled as being kraft. Honestly confused me more than anything else. Took the family there for dinner the other night and sat on the patio. Pretty good overall experience, Eddie the server was attentive and pleasant. Food was decent. French fries were disgraceful like always. Good beer selection, decent food, attentive service, horrible french fries sums it up. It's close to where I live so it remains in my rotation. read more
