I have been going to Chuy's since they opened their first restaurant in Austin, Texas in the 80s. When they opened in Atlanta, we were there at 11:00am and got the inaugural t-shirt (literally!). Since Darden Resaturants bought them in 2024, they have slid so far downhill, and tonight was the last night we'll eat there. They got our order wrong, the food is HALF the portion size it used to be, and it's MORE expensive. And naturally, the service was slow. I love Chuy's! When I lived in the area, I used to go all the time--it was one of my favorite spots. I just went back yesterday to celebrate my birthday, and it brought back all the good memories. I hadn't been in about two years! I absolutely love their Tres Leches cake--hands down my favorite dessert. My husband ordered the Elvis Presley Memorial Combo, and I had the Green Chile Relleno Combo, spicy but good! Our server, Frank (I believe that was his name), was very friendly and polite. I have eaten here so many times! You will see pictures and plates from several visits... I'm a fast ssa but not that much lol! They have never missed not once. This place has the best text mex and is a place that you get a taste for. They put their own spin on everything! and all of their sauces are made daily from scratch. They have vegan and vegatarian options and any taco, enchilada, burrito etc, can be made vegitarian. They serve this creamy jalepeno ranch sauce with their chips that you will dxe for! Litterally I put that ish on EVERYTHING! Their service is great and the staff are friendly. If you ever have an issue a manager will work it out for you and if your food takes more than 30 minutes to come out it is bought! First time we tipped $1 at chuys. We come here at least once or twice a month but we were there for over an hour and he didn't get our drinks for 45 minutes (we started timing it for fun) and then our food was really cold and we could tell that it had been out a long time...our waiter was more concerned with the girls at the bar and his co workers. He didn't get our queso out until our food came out (an hour after we arrived) We even had a free queso coupon and he said he'd get his manager to verify ( he never did ) and 15 minutes later he slammed the check down WITH the queso on it. Best of luck to him but this was probably the worst experience we've had there. All the other employees and bar tenders are fantastic. The BEST Tex mex place this side of the MISSISSIPPI!! I am not exaggerating, I went here with my family of 5 and two friends about 40 minutes before closing. I know, I know, this is a no- no for more reasons than one. I couldn't tell that I was there near closing because the servers weren't rushing, they were happy and extremely patient. If you're looking for authentic, this may not be the place, but if you don't mind it not being the most authentic ever, you can definitely find something on the menu that you like. So happy there is a location here in GA so a TX transplant can get a taste of home. An Austin original, this was my go-to place for Tex-Mex. A MUST HAVE is the creamy jalapeno dip, but you have to ask for it with the pre-meal chips. It's also great as a topping for enchiladas, salads. After not coming to Chuy's for at least a year and a half, I decided that we'd come here for dinner tonight. We arrived at about 6:20 pm, and the restaurant didn't look that busy inside, although it looked like customers were waiting outside in no certain order. I had to be back at home by 8 pm for a Zoom event, and I live only 5 minutes away from Chuy's, so I didn't think that dining here would be an issue. We entered the bar area, and there were customers sitting at the bar and two of the tables against the windows. There was a group of employees - it looked like two servers, a bartender and a manager - at the bar getting their drink orders squared away. I waited to talk to someone in the group to ask if it was ok that we sit at an available table in the bar area. We were told that we could sit at a table and someone would be with us in a few minutes. 20 minutes later, no one had come to our table yet. Looking out the windows, I could see people outside just either sitting on or leaning against the short wooden fence. I could also see across the bar area into one of the two indoor dining areas, and I didn't see anyone sitting at any of the tables. Finally, the manager that was behind the bar counter earlier came to our table and said to us, "Sorry for the wait. We've been discouraging customers from sitting at the tables in the bar area because we're really short handed. The only one helping customers in the bar area is the bartender, and she's making the drinks for everyone. I could get someone to assist you, but, honestly, it'll be at least a half an hour. Although I'm glad that the manager came by to update us, why couldn't one of them tell us the same message about 25 minutes earlier when we walked in and specifically asked them if it was okay for us to sit at a table in the bar area? Sheesh! The recent trend is that more people are going out to eat at restaurants, and that many restaurant workers are leaving their jobs in search of increased job satisfaction. Very concerning ... We have always loved Chuy's, especially the fajitas and the cheese enchiladas with Tex Mex sauce. We always find a Chuy's wherever we are and enjoy it. We just relocated to Atlanta and went to the Perimeter location. This restaurant is so dirty it's off-putting. It doesn't smell clean or look clean, there is dirt hanging from the ceiling and the floors are disgusting. We got our usual fajitas, the chicken was cooked to the point it was dry and hard, the (usually delicious) tortillas were dry and the cheese looked like it had been sitting out. Our waiter was nice but he didn't look clean either. Sadly, we won't be back, it was absolutely stomach turning. read more

Did a to go order. I got three Tacos soft shell, shrimp, fajita chicken & beef. They provided cheese on the side, guacamole, and lettuce. The shrimp came already together and mom had a field day with all the tacos! It also came with rice and beans and a side of chips. I spent about $18 for all and wasnt bad at all. You are provided free chips and salsa, which is always a plus, and the salsa was spicy and particularly flavorful. I also tried the queso, which I loved. It is an orange cheese and there is an amazing spice to it. For my main meal I got the chicken tacos and the tortilla was thick and tasted so fresh and the chicken was cooked perfectly and was of great quality. I loved all the food I tried here and, during covid times, I'm thrilled they have a patio. Things I didn't like: Nothing! Great food and service and I'm definitely coming back. No glass dividers between seating area but they are leaving each booth out to maintain distance btw customer to customer. Staff are wearing masks at all times. We got margaritas for drinks. Decent price and drinks were well made. The chips and salsa were good. One of the best salsa's i had at a mexican place. Plenty of options to choose from the menu but the food itself was subpar. Not only did she allowed me to use a gift card that was given to another location that had closed down because of Covid She was also the one that carried the food out to me as I did curbside pick up. I had gone to the other location in Alpharetta that have closed down because of Covid and she said that she had worked there. The food there was my only other time of tasting Chuy food. The food is good here I always enjoy dining in but In these days of pandemic, unfortunately some of my favorites are no longer offered because of the new menu . I'm pleased with the fajitas that I ordered it was very tasty. Imust point out that instead of receiving the takeout in Styrofoam or plastic clear containers it was in a nice heavy foil-based container with a top that was vented so my food was very warm and not soggy! I'm sure these containers are much more costly than the usual plastic/Styrofoam ones but I feel this restaurant was concerned about keeping the food warm and tasty so I applaud them for putting in the extra $$ to make sure my food was still warm! This type of container allowed me to consume it immediately once I got home - I didn't have to reheat it! Especially important to me since most the food I pick up at restaurants and do not dine in! Recently moved to Atlanta from Texas and was so excited to find out there was a Chuy's in town, unfortunately - did not live up to expectations. I usually don't like to complain about waitstaff because their job isn't easy but our server seemed like she was bothered to be helping us. We only saw her twice throughout the whole meal - when it was time to order and when it was time to pay. We had to flag down other servers for drink and chip refills. Important to note that it wasn't even busy when we were eating. We ended up cutting dinner short because we were so bothered by this.
