As the founder of Taco Masala, a taco concept with nine locations on the East Coast, I'm always curious to see how others in the space are executing their menu and customer experience. I ordered the Sizzler Tacos ($16.95), which included two tacos, a side of nachos, and another side. The food arrived impressively fast. Presentation was clean and appealing -- the tacos were well laid out, and the sides were portioned nicely. Overall, visually it was a solid plate. From a flavor standpoint, I'd like to offer a bit of constructive feedback. When something is labeled a "sizzler," there's an expectation of bold flavor -- perhaps sautéed or grilled onions, charred peppers, or some caramelization on the meat that delivers that signature sizzle experience. In this case, the steak was simply placed into the taco without that extra layer of zest or depth. I'm not complaining -- just offering positive, industry-peer feedback. A touch of sautéed onions, grilled tomatoes, or even lightly seasoned caramelized elements could elevate the dish and give customers that memorable flavor that keeps them coming back specifically for the "sizzler" experience. I've been coming here for years now! The energy and customer service keeps bringing me back. Prices has increased over the years but quality has stay consistent. Staff is often walking around asking is anyone needs anything. I always do a build your own salad, topped with all the veggies. I love the little patio which is dog friendly. Chips and Salsa (4/5): The chips were thin and crispy (they reminded me of Chilis' chips). The salsa was fine but I would've loved even a little hint of spice. Barbacoa Burrito (3/5): The burrito wasn't very well mixed at all and the refried beans unfortunately dominated the flavor and texture. I liked the meat but there wasn't enough of it. This was my second time at this location and I was not disappointed. I'm a stickler for eating the same thing at my a favorite spots to not disappoint myself and I wasn't. I got a basket with the ahi tuna and grilled flounder tacos, side of queso and I tried the watermelon Margarita. Tacos come in groups of two, they have house suggestions and you can build your own (definitely the way to go) from a really large list of ingredients. I tried the steak and a fish (fried flounder) taco and a side of street corn. I ordered the steak with cilantro and onion, and the fish with their ancho chile slaw. Both on flour tortillas. The tacos come with the toppings under the protein, which is odd but okay. The steak was super tender but could have been marinated for some more flavor. I came here with a friend for Cinco de Mayo, knowing before hand there would be a crowd. What I didn't expect was the absolute over the top service we received on one of the busiest days of the year. The food, as always was beyond expectations and the drinks were fresh and delicious. The owner is one of the kindest people and best business owners I've ever encountered. I was mentioning that I forgot to use my $5 off coupon I had been saving for this occasion and he immediately gave me a second without hesitation AND even went and reopened my tab to give me $5 back towards my meal. We came on a Tuesday night, and there was a short line out the door, but we were able to order within 10 minutes. After we ordered, it only took another 10 minutes to get our food. I ordered the two tacos and a side combo ($12-15) with one grilled flounder and one chorizo. In hindsight, probably not the best combination together, but both were good! I had been here before but felt like this time we were greeted immediately, the server explained everything on the menu and answered any questions. I am always looking for good Mexican food and found it at Taco Mama. I really enjoy ahi burritos and saw that it was part of their menu. We headed over there for lunch on the weekend and really enjoyed our meal. I got the build your own burrito with guacamole and it was really good. After seeing the good reviews, and having a friend recommend, we had to try Taco Mama. They have a fairly big menu, plus you can build your own anything so possibilities are endless. We tried the Yo Mama burrito and the Fat Boy burrito, both baskets with street corn. Everything came out very quick and was so tasty. It's an order at the counter and they bring you your food kind of place, but I was surprised how many times they checked in that everything tasted good and we didn't need anything additional, so nice! It's not super loud, or super quiet, so would definitely be a casual kid friendly option. The margaritas sounded and looked delicious so I'll have to try one next time! She ended bringing me a little cup of green salsa which was super spicy and I asked if they have regular red mild salsa and she just stood there. She told me I would have to order some kind of trio to get the red salsa so I just said never mind because I was already frustrated. HIGHLY recommend their burritos! I usually don't order burritos because they're too big but these are the perfect size - you're full without the burrito baby. I absolutely LOVE their tacos. The Chorizo and Ground Beef are my favorite. Each meal comes with chips & salsa and a side - I love sides. YESSS to their Margaritas - especially the watermelon. It actually had watermelon pieces in it. OK last thing, their outdoor patio is SO charming. Great for a quick lunch or a Friday night dinner under the lights. You know when you have a favorite soda, can't wait to get home to have it with your meal, and then you find out it's just carbonated water...that's what happened to me...3 times. You can't enjoy Taco Tuesday without a margarita but apparently today will just have to do. After finding out the machine just ran out of mix, it was remade but still the same. The manager even came back and was so proud we just had to smile & say thanks because it wasn't getting any better than my low cal margarita I just had for the first time on cheat day. All this to say, I'd skip out on the drinks in the future. But I did like that you get unlimited toppings with the nachos. Good made to order taco joint. You order what you want and they bring it out to you. There is indoor and outdoor seating. It is first come first serve and they are pretty quick with cleaning the tables. The have sanitizer on each table. We ordered the taco baskets that come with two tacos, salsa and a side. We mixed and match them. Tuna is extra but it was worth it. Tuna, shrimp, barbacoa, and chorizo tacos were ordered. We also had the queso and guacamole. Everything was excellent. We ordered and then we went and sat down and they brought the wife a burrito she ordered a veggie but thinking she had ordered Taco's Sam the manager could see the confusion in her face (yes, It was her mistake) and he brought her the Taco's anyway. Went on a Saturday evening for tacos and margaritas. They're located inside of a shopping center right next to the Plant House! We walked in and we're immediately greeted by the manager who asked if it was our first time (it was). He was extremely helpful with explaining menu items and guiding our drink choices for the evening. Their ordering style is very convenient! You order and pay at the counter, given a table marker for whatever table you choose and they bring it out to you! On to the food! Veggie Quesadilla Was grilled onions cilantro rice and black beans. All of the veggies we're on the side, that was tomatoes, iceberg lettuce, guacamole, pico de gallo, sour cream. I personally was expecting more I would think veggies would be some type of mix of at least zucchini, squash and grilled onions so this wasn't an item that thrilled me. Skinny margarita with sugar Made to perfection! Next time I want to do a pitcher! Ambience was very nice and modern. Excited to try this place out, but it was honestly just some basic tex-mex food. We ordered pick-up and did the entire transaction over the phone and our order was ready by the time we got there. I'll admit the portions were very filling for the price, but the flavors were mediocre. I liked The Judge over the Fat Boy burrito because it had a variety of toppings and wasn't just mush.
