First time at this Taco Nazo location. Place is right next to a busy street and freeway and is in a kind of sketchy area. Place also looks kind of run down and dirty, but the food is still excellent. My daughter found this spot on Instagram and knew I needed to try it on my recent visit. We decided to use the drive thru since it was open (and she's on crutches). The young lady working outside taking orders at your car window was super friendly and helpful. I couldn't decide so I got the 3 papa tacos dorados .. umm so good, creamy potatoes in a crunchy tortilla with all the fixings .. and that chile güerito & salsa paired nicely. Of course I wasn't going to stop at a fish taco spot and not have the world famous tacos .. I also had the fish & shrimp tacos .. fried perfectly and covered in shredded cabbage & crema.. a squirt of lime and that salsa .. slightly spicy. These are a good size, not your tiny street taco size. I got the free fish taco and agua de sandía with my Yelp check-in to wash it all down and I bookmarked it for my next trip. The food runners who bring your order to the window also run through the order to make sure nothing is missing. We definitely got great service and so much food! Wow! An 8-pack taco box and 1 large drink is now $32!! I haven't been here in some time but I did not expect a price hike so steep. Although, I do feel like the quantity of fish add shrimp in the tacos we ordered were plentiful and so nicely fried. I'm unfortunately not a huge fan of the roasted and salted yellow peppers that they give with the tacos but I do like the seasoning that is on them. I also really like the combo of sour cream, pico, cabbage and whatever else it is that they might put on there. Service is quick and friendly. I really like that they've stepped it up with the boxes that they use to package their food. I noticed that they have a drive thru although it was not open while I was there. I think the drive thru wasn't open because it was the busy lunch hour. I'm not entirely sure but that might be the case. I did hear that a few people placed online orders. I'm guessing that makes things more convenient. Everyone eating in the covered patio area was eating and chatting. All of a sudden it went silent. I looked up and saw 4 minority individuals walk through the eating area. That's when I noticed that they were wearing their work uniforms, their vests read, "US Customs and Border Patrol." Oops. I thought that was kinda funny. I mean, I'm pretty sure they didn't go to eat their lunch and arrest a ton of people who were trying to do the same, just enjoy their meals. This place is famous for its fish tacos, and rightfully so. They are perfectly fresh, crunchy, savory, saucy bites of deliciousness. My favorite here is still the shrimp burrito. Taco Nazo never disappoints me, no matter which location except the one on Azusa Ave at Azusa, California. The one was closed, permanently. Even I know it's close, I still visited there for taking several pictures. I visited this Taco Nazo last Wednesday night around 8:30 pm, it was crowded with people. Most of them were Hispanic and had a black cross on their forehead. I asked them why had a cross, they told me just out of the church, maybe a special religious day? The tacos were as good as it always, we had several fish tacos and a Requeson taco. The fried fish was crispy and tasty, along with their good roasted chili sauce. The Requeson was like an empanada stuffed with cheese inside, served with tomato dice, onion dice, and sliced cabbage. It's my first time having such food, which was good taste. read more

I wish the Azusa location still exists, as that was our hangout spot. We decided to dine out for lunch here during range day. As you know, Taco Nazo is known for their fried fish tacos. Their shrimp tacos are also delicious! The fried fish never had any funny or foul taste nor smell. It always had the tender on the inside and crunch on the outside texture. The shrimps are fat, tender and juicy too. Their salsa verde is one of my favorite. Try it, it won't disappoint you. The place could be busy during lunch, you have been warned! read more

Ever since I moved to the area I've been getting Taco Nazo posts in my explore page so of course I just had to try it out of myself. They're known for their fish tacos and their shrimp cocktails. I didn't get the shrimp cocktails this time, but I did get an 8 oz. Fish Ceviche ($8.49) and a couple Fish Tacos ($3.49 each). If you check in on Yelp you can get a free fish taco if you order a drink, so you basically save $1! The fish tacos were nice and big, so I did get full from just the two. They also supply a slice of lime and a sauce cup of salsa to put on your tacos, along with a yellow chile on the side. There's the perfect amount of batter on the fish so that the layer of batter isn't so thick and just perfectly coats the fish to give it a nice crunch on the outside. The salsa was okay; I didn't really care for it too much and I couldn't really taste much of the spiciness in it. The fish ceviche was good, but it did need some extra tapatio added to it for a bit more of a kick. Otherwise I thought it was a bit bland aside from the overpowering taste of the lime juice. Service was okay. We stood in front of the counter for quite a while before anyone came to help us. It wasn't even busy; we were the only ones at the line. A couple people from behind the counter stared at us and then went right back to work before someone else finally came up to take our orders. Once we placed our order though the food came out pretty quickly. It only took a few minutes and we barely sat down before they handed us our bags. When I'm craving fish tacos again, I'd probably come back here again. I do still want to try out the shrimp cocktails, so that's still on the list for next time! read more

I can honestly say that this is my favorite fish taco spot. Literally no other place has every come close. I live between LA and SD and between the two, I still rate this location as my number one. NOT TO MENTION, they have the best yelp check in offer! In the last year or two, this location did a little remodeling and made a window next to what use to be the entrance. I think this was the perfect move. Now, the line can be out to the side of the shop instead of blocking people from getting to the outside seating area. They also started a drive thru line and this is perfect for those who don't want to stand in said line. My go to order is the three taco combo plus the yelp checkin offer. This is perfect for me and my mom; two tacos each, a drink each, and rice, beans and chips with salsa to share. This will definitely get you full! The fish tacos here are HUGE and so delicious. They have the ultimate crunch and so much toppings. The salsa is the perfect touch if you can handle some heat. This right here has to be my #1 shrimp burrito I've ever had. Ensenada, Tijuana, all of LA and even other competitors that claim to be the best can't measure up to this spot. The quality and taste are just superior in every form. This spot has a sit down area outside and a drive thru unlike other spots. Not sure on alcohol though. It is in a bit of the rougher area of the neighborhood but I grew up going to this one so it's safe in my eyes. Fish and shrimp tacos are also offered grilled so make sure you try it that way if you're watching calories. Papá tacos and hidden menu items, nachos and tostadita are a must as well. I'm glad this place has an online ordering system where I can order ahead and pick up later. It saves me time from waiting in line. I took the unconventional route and got carne asada tacos instead of their popular fish tacos. It was a little overpriced for the quantity they give you, but overall pretty good. The asada meat is tender, savory, and with the green sauce it just feels like a blast in your mouth If you scroll all the way to the bottom of their online ordering menu, you'd find their "secret menu". I tried their California burrito which had asada, fried fish, and a fried potato taco inside. A bit unconventional from the typical fries that most places use. Overall a good burrito with their signature salsa shining through. However, the potato taco took a lot of room inside. Taco Nazo, or El Taco Nazo, is an amazing fish taco mini-chain. They have things other than fish tacos, including shrimp tacos and different shrimp and fish cocktails. But their Baja fish taco is a thing of beauty. The fish pieces are fried and cozied into two soft corn tortillas. It is topped with shredded cabbage, a few tomatoes and white sauce. It is served with lime wedges, which you much squeeze onto each taco. You also get hot sauce, which you can use to your personal taste. To me this is the perfect Baja fish taco. The flavor and balance are amazing. Eating them are a but messy. But they taste so good! This is not the only Taco Nazo. They are not all the same. But their fish tacos are the same. Just delicious. A few of my close friends who are from Mexico say these are the best they've had and that they are really authentic. We're used to going to the location in La Habra. We stopped because of cleanliness issues years ago. But, I have to say, my wife and I are addicted to this chain, especially during Lent. I had some business in the heart of the SGV and remembered this location just off the 605 and Valley. As chance would have it, traffic was starting to build southbound on the 605 and my Waze told me to exit on Valley. Well, I really must've meant to go to Taco Nazo as my eastbound drive on Valley took me right in front of this place. Add in a coincidental call from my wife that she wanted a late lunch and it all came together. What makes this particular location unique is that it has a "drive thru." I make note of this because as far as I know, no other Taco Nazo has a drive thru and it's not a drive thru in the traditional sense. You pull up on the east side of the building between 2 cones. A worker comes out to take your order with a credit card reader (it's Samsung pay and Apple pay friendly; no cash in the drive thru line), then you're directed between more cones, drive around the parking lot to the west side of the building, and finally another worker meets you with a bag of wonderful goodness. This particular time, we ordered their way too famous potato tacos (the papa tacos plate, 3 for $8.79) and their equally famous shrimp taco. Yes, I know, I know, they're really known for their fish tacos, but we like the papas and camarrones as well... The tacos are served in a box with the requisite cooked yellow chile (my fav) and chipotle salsa. Like most chipotle's, it was smokey with a gentle build up of heat that wasn't too hot. For me, it was mild, but I didn't want heat as much as I wanted flavor. The cabbage was crisp and the mayo sauce not overpowering. The slice of lime added just the right amount of acidity with a light squeeze. The building is run down and the whole place has a truck stop or Tijuana vibe. While waiting for my turn to reach the order taker, two large work trucks looked like they were going to hit me as they navigated for a parking spot. The parking is really tight and if you have a full size pickup or long SUV like a Suburban, you'll have a chore driving through the cones and around the building if you opt for the drive thru option. The walk up line was long, even around 2:30pm and it's the last Friday in Lent before holy week, so I'm sure the evening rush will be even worse. But for delicious Ensenda style street tacos WITH A DRIVE THRU and easy return access to the 605, this joint has gotta be on your regular rotation for fish, shrimp or potato tacos. read more

I need a Popeyes biscuit to help this digest. Dry. Dry. Dry. Taco Tuesday. I heard they were known for their fish tacos. Not in the mood. So I tried the asada, chicken and al pastor. Big fail. All the meats were salty and I really dislike that the tortillas come stuck together. I dont need to get full on tortillas. The asada was chewy. Not sure I ate beef. Super salty. The chicken was leg meat. For $3 a pop, I'd expect white meat. Guess not. The al pastor was meh. Nothing here was good. But I ate it because I paid for it. I added avocado to one of my tacos. Still didn't help. A total of $17 for four tacos. I don't see why they're so popular. But then again, I gave up on Mexican food a long time ago. Because of places like this. Check my reviews, I never eat Mexican food. They all fail. But if you like it, that's cool too. Not coming back. Wish I would have had the five star experience.
