If you are up in NW Austin near Costco and want to get a quick bite to eat this is a fairly good option. The Palenque bowl appears to be the most popular item. I wanted something in more of taco form and got the Casero. They both come with your choice of side (refried, charro beans, or something else). The portions are huge so i can see why people come here. True, this is not an earth shattering taco. But i think it's a step above Taco Cabana; the food is just seasoned better here with slightly higher quality ingredients. I enjoyed the chips and salsa bar as well. Wasn't really a fan of the green salsa - the red salsa is the way to go. Love that they also have pickled onions. A meal here won't break the bank and sometimes you just need a mid point meal - nothing too fancy. read more

This place is great for quantity and value especially with their bogo burrito offer. My partner and I had sirloin burritos and fideos and I had a taco matamoros. The burritos were alright but the taco was very tasty. The self serve sauce and toppings bar was very extensive and included chips and salsa which really added to the meal. I got a fountain drink and was excited for horchata but it's the concentrate kind which taste artificial so I'd stay away from that. I just wanted a breakfast taco which I'm sure they sell, but by default what's on the board, that's not there. I got a potato and egg pirata, which effectively is a loaded taco with beans and cheese. My friend got a breakfast burrito which looks to be the exact same thing, at the same size but more expensive? We were confused. The food is ok. Everything overall is fine, could use some more salt on everything, but salsa and the condiment bar can fix that. The tortilla is both flaky and dry, which is a remarkable achievement? For the price, it's probably a bit on the high side for what you get. All that said, if you like all you can eat chips and a very large condiment bar, that's a nice touch. As for the store itself, super clean, bright and open early and late, so if you need a taco fix, you know Taco Palenque is there for you at least. read more

Drive thru was fairly average. Cashier Hassel was very friendly. Ordrred 1 beef fajita and 1 beef picadillo crispy tacos. They were out of piccadillo so I got 2 fajita. The beef was very tasty and tender. Toopings of cheese, lettuce & tomato was skimpy. Crispy shells were delicious. I should requested sour cream or a salsa as they were very dry. My fault there. We ordered taco palenque through uber eats on a weekday night. The food was packaged really well, I appreciate the plastic bags around cartons so grease didn't leak, napkins and they gave us a great amount of salsas on the side. We ordered the supreme fajita quesadilla ($16) that got us a free planchos with beef, a crispy taco, an order of chips and an order of the street corn. The supreme quesadilla was NOT it for $16. The only reason I'm not too mad is bc it's a great deal with the free planchos but alone I would be pissed. There was hardly any meat in it, and these cheese was barely melted- no cheese pull here. I do like that it comes with a side of beans and guacamole though, both which I enjoyed. My boyfriend was happy with the planchos- I didn't taste them myself. The crispy taco was fine- I was able to choose two salsas with it and they gave us 6 ramekins of it total which is way too much for a taco but I was then able to dip my tortilla chips in it which made me happy. The avocado salsa had that sour taste like they used underripe avocado but the tomatillo salsa was DELISH I put it on everything. The street corn was smaller than the picture and not worth the $6+ dollars. It tasted fine, but I like mine a bit saucier. The tortilla chips are like the real fried tortillas and they were delish! Anyway, I got a single crispy beef taco and asked for three of their five different hot sauces, the red, the roasted, and the guacamole and WOW! Call me crazy, but that was the best crispy beef taco I've ever had in my life by far! What is even up with those shells?!!!! They're so crispy and crunchy and the taco was stuffed full of meat and tons of fresh veggies and cheese. My only complaint is that I didn't get two! Very bad service! Ordered two burritos with no lettuce, salsa or peppers. Received one burrito as ordered, the second one had lettuce. The burrito was returned with the receipt showing the order we placed. 20 mins later, the burrito was never replaced. I spoke with the manager on duty, David, he grabs the burrito that was sitting on the counter and gives it to me. No apology or concern for making us wait and having the order ready the whole time. I recently lost my wallet and went back to see if Taco Palenque had it. The amazing manager Monica, had it in the safe and even asked if she could look at it to identify me.
