I come here for lunch or brunch (weekends) on occasion. The breakfast burritos are the perfect weekend brunch - perfect for those days after long nights. Tacos are good too but I haven't had any except for the carne asada (which is great). Service is pretty good, but it can be inexplicably slow when I need it the fastest. They also had a "B" rating for a while, but I don't mind it - seems more authentic (haha). If you're in the area, give it a shot - inexpensive and delicious! Luckily, located conveniently around the corner from my place is Taco Plus and a 7-Eleven. It was like a godsend, a desert oasis after trekking for days in the blistering hot sun. Ok, so I'm exaggerating. The place is small and clean with a few tables for dining in, it seems more like a take-out place more than anything. Anyways, we all ordered tacos, I had the carnitas while my friends had the carne. We loaded up the little plastic containers with salsa, peppers, cilantro and lemons. We also ordered some sides and the portion size is pretty generous with the combination plates. We wanted to eat everything back at my place so we hopped over to 7-Eleven grabbed some Modelo tall boys and kicked back as we stuffed ourselves silly. Oh Taco Plus.... How I love your delicious cheap food!!!! We have a building I manage a block away and my boss and I make up reasons to visit the building just so we can eat here. It's insanely cheap, my favorite is the #1 with (Tacos with carnitas) It's a small, old, dingy place with wonderful salsa and hardly any seating. You will find plenty of patrons who don't speak english, are in working clothes and covered in paint. MY KIND OF MEXICAN FOOD!!! When I decide how many stars I think about the food/ambiance/service vs. price. How could you give it a 4??? This is a 6 when you compare those things!! mmmmmmmm taco salad, how I adore you. I seriously have never had a better taco salad then the one at taco plus, its filled with lettuce, tomato, guacamole, sour cream, jack cheese, cilantro, a bit of lime juice and lots of asada all on a crispy giant shell. Plus its only $6.35! I also like their burritos and tacos but not nearly as much as the salad. I have only ordered take out here as the place is small and lacking ambiance, but that's ok, the food is always hot and tasty when I get home. I love the salsa bar where you can load up on lime wedges, cilantro, jalapenos and all kinds of salsa as I am a cilantro whore. Their fresh made chips are fabulous as well. Why would anyone review a taco joint called "Taco Plus" that's connected to a 7-11 and looks like a cocaine trade-front? Let me explain. This isn't just a taco joint. It's a Goddamn revolution. Now don't get me wrong. It's highly possible the dude manning the grill also slings bags of white rock. But not on the clock. No chance. Instead, he pours heart, soul, and perfect amounts of everything on every order. Like a Samurai chef with a mustache. I've given most of the menu a fair shot. And in return, it's given me everything but a handjob. From the breakfasts (try the Chiliquiles for a $5 spot) to the lunches (Burrito's the size of Popeye's forearm for $6) to the dinner plates (all of 'em for about $7), you can get through the entire day and not have to stand up. They might even let you. But what makes Taco Plus better than, say, Don Antonio's? Tito's? Poquito Mas? Or Campos? Or any of the 29,879 other taco stands, joints, restaurants, or roach coaches on the Westside? The PLUSes, my friends. Let's have a look: - The culinary excellence. Every dish is cooked exactly as long (or as short) as it's supposed to be cooked. And spiced exactly as it's supposed to be spiced. - The veggies. They're homegrown and freshly picked. I'm not sure, but it's possible there's actually a farm in the back room. - The salsa bar. Unlike El Crappo Loco and others, the sauces, salsas, and peppers don't have fridge-burn. They're freshly blended and not spilled over the sides like a Tazmanian Devil spun through the bitch. - The cleanliness. Sparkling from ceiling to floor. I dropped a chip once and it disappeared before it hit the floor. - The flavor. Some people talk about flavor country. This is the host planet. - The portion sizes. See Popeye's forearm above. - The prices. For less than $8, you'll walk away feeling full AND you'll still have enough money for a case of Pabst at 7-11. In this economy, that's even better than a handjob. The only minuses are the parking situation and the fact you can't actually live there. A small price to pay for sheer happiness. This is my go to place for lunch when I am craving taquitos. I like that they use all white meat chicken in their taquitos and the flavor is just right. I usually order the taquito plate with rice and black beans and it always hits the spot. The red salsa they send with my meal is a perfect hint of spice I need and use on my rice. Great place for a quick, cheap lunch. Great value for everything here. I had the carne asada tacos, it came with two tacos and two sides so I got rice and corn. I didn't even come close to finishing it all. There is a lot of food in the combo plates! So probably next time I'll get one side, either rice or beans, as the corn wasn't my favorite. As some others have said, this is a very small place so don't show up with 30 people. I went with a group of 4 including me, and that was ideal. I'm vegetarian, and I found the vegetariano burrito to be pretty filling. It was big and they didn't seem to be shy with any of the ingredients. The salsas (they have a variety of different salsas) are above average but not great, and the burrito itself was satisfying. I've had better, but it's not bad. The location was a bit out of the way for where we were but that's dependent on where you're coming from anyway. You have a choice of chicken or steak and comes with guacamole, cheese, sour cream, salsa fresca. Horrible service! I came in after work, I do installs for events, so I'm dressed for function, and not to impress. I was literally ordering from the guy, when someone came in behind me dressed in a suit. The guy behind the counter stops working with me and goes to the guy in the suit and starts to process his order. I interjected that I was there first, but the guy behind the counter said he was going to take care of the well dressed guy first. What the hell?! I asked if it was his cousin or something, and the guy in the suit said he didn't know any of them.
