We were craving fried fish tacos baja style so decided to go to taco tapatio on a friday night. Big Mistake! Not only did it take 20-30 minutes to get our food. Our fish tacos were cold, not even warm. If the fish was fried, why weren't the tacos hot and crispy? Not only were they cold, the fish only covered half of the tortilla if that, which means you only got fish when you ate the middle of the taco. Clearly the taco needed at least 2 pieces of fish per taco. Extremely disappointed and will not be going back Ever! I don't know how they could still be in business with this kind of BS! read more

Times I've been: Once What I ordered mostly recently: Beef Quesadilla Combo and a small Horchata Right by the school I attend there is a small cluster of Mexican restaurants, all with very similar names. This one is called Taco Tapatio (I've found that out of all genres of food, it seems Mexican places have the least creative names -- just an observation) I've been making it a point to try them all one by one. Today I got to eat lunch here. Atmosphere: Nothing out of the ordinary. A decently sized eating area, with standard white walls, cheesy pictures, and of course the ever-playing monotonous soundtrack of seemingly all mexican places. Cleanliness: Everything seemed to be clean enough. I just got an order to go, so I wasn't in there for long. Service: The service at the counter was fine. They did their jobs. Nothing out of the ordinary. But, once again, I got an order to go, so it's not like I would know much about the service. Food: This is where I feel like I can say the most. This was my first time there, so maybe my opinion would change based on other items, but for now, this is what I can give you based on what I ordered. The food was decent. The combo is basically a beef quesadilla with beans and rice, guacamole, chopped up iceberg lettuce, diced tomatoes, and sour cream on the side. The meat was flavorful enough. I don't know how wrong you can go with a quesadilla. The beans and rice didn't taste very fresh. The lettuce had an odd flavor to it. My meal was made fresh, I saw them do it, but it tasted like the ingredients maybe had been sitting out a little too long, or weren't the best quality to start with. The portion size is what you would expect. They used a large tortilla for the quesadilla, and actually put quite a lot of meat in it. They gave me about a cup of rice and a cup of beans and everything else (guacamole, sour cream, etc) together was about a cup. The small horchata was good, but I don't think they even make it fresh; it's probably from a machine. Overall, this place was alright. It got the job done. I was full by the end of the meal and everything tasted pretty good, but it's not somewhere I would seek out again or say that you have to stop in. I paid $6.55 for my meal, and it tasted cheaper than that. I probably won't go back, unless it's an issue of being out somewhere and it's just convenient to go there or some friends are already going. But once again, maybe if I tried other things on the menu I would change my mind. I'm open to it. Also, just a heads up, this place is cash only. read more

Yummy!!!! This was my first time here. I want to try everything. I started simple this time and got a fish taco and two potato tacos. Very good. Their hot sauce is really spicy so beware and get it on the side if you're sensitive. The two employees that were there were extremely nice and polite. read more

I can't believe it's the first time I stumbled upon this place. Absolutely authentic and so delicious. I came on Wednesday for $1 Fish tacos an oh my God I cannot believe how huge each one was. I honestly thought it was gonna be really small and dinky like most places but it looked exactly as it did in the picture. I will be back every Wednesday diet or no diet. They have all the sides that a authentic taco place should have like the pickled carrots the cut up lime the cabbage and the radishes. Medium size Mexican restaurant on the south side of Foothill across the street from a church and across the street from Super Toms Burgers. Has it's own small parking lot on Foothill. I decided to check the place out because it had 4 stars on Yelp. B rated but the health Department, this place was dirty, the crazy part is it was empty when I went in and no one had bothered to clean the tables, sad. Didn't notice the rating while I was there, I looked for it but I didn't see it, could be I just missed it. The food was meh, not that good, I got carnitas, pollo and asada. All the meat came from warming trays and then was chopped up to order, I like how you can see the food being prepared, I didn't like how little flavor the meats had on their own, the beans have more flavor then the meats. All the meets must be sitting in warm water in the warming tray because they all just tasted like boiled meat, little flavor and little color It was moist from being in water but when you have no flavor is it really a good trade off? read more

I wanted to like this place, I really did. I ordered a couple of asada tacos and sopes. The asada meat was bland, had absolutely no flavor to it at all which was really disappointing. It wasn't dry, but it added no flavor to the tacos or sopes. Also, they keep the meat in warming trays and don't heat it up when they put your order together, so the meat is lukewarm at best. On the plus side, the beans on the sopes were tasty, and I did enjoy their green salsa, it's spicier than the red. Employees are also friendly. read more

I have been coming here for about 15 years. This is my favorite place for a taco. Over the years the price of the food has skyrocketed and the quality has diminished. The food is still very good. Especially the tacos. I was here the other day and got a burrito. The tortilla tasted like it has been frozen prior to cooking. The booths are ripped up and looks extremely dirty. My fiancee took me there first time i tried their cheese enchiladas and menudo. It was so delicious. So today we went there again i had their taco tuesday which i ordered their pastor taco with onions and cilantro and avocado and ordered side of rice it was mini tacos i should have ordered 2 more i put lemon juice. I always order asada tacos from here,but like other mexican places i reviewed there cheap with the onion and celantro.The meat is hit or miss too.Sometimes it tastes like Dog meat,Gross .I also cant stand that they dont have napkin dispencers on each table.You have to beg the sweaty unfriendly workers for more napkins and they just give you one.So tapatio im going to be cheap like you and give you one star cuz you deserve it!!! read more

Its a family owned restruant and has been open foe 25 years.. the carne asada is the best and the chile verde you cant compare.. those two together is an irresistable combination and will make you go back for more.. the service is great and welcoming and the seating is ok, its on the corner of Foothill and Pasadena across the street form St. Frances church, I highly recommend it. you havent had authentic mexican until youve had Taco Tapatio..!! I'm on the hunt for the best carne asada burrito in my area. The one here was fine, but the filling to tortilla ratio was weighted to the tortilla a bit too much. It was fairly busy the lunch time I went, and most folks were eating mariscos, so maybe that's the specialty here. That would explain the faint fishy taste in my burrito. read more

I come hear for lunch. It's not a busy placed compared to the shops closer to Azusa Pacific University so it's nice and quiet. Clean and well kept. Their lunch are a great deal for what they give you and their juices (Horchata, Jamaica & piña) are home made. This has become my new favorite place between classes. read more
