Never came here before in the past. I was a student at UCSD for many years. The place is nice and seems like a good place to study if you don't mind some noise. The staff is super friendly and courteous. I picked out my order and it was ready in no time! The food is pretty good. I ordered a California Burrito, a staple food in San Diego. Meat tasted and good and the fries were great. It had just the right amount of sour cream and cheese. Salsas are good too, especially the orange. One of the newer places to eat on campus. If you're around the old student center area, come check it out! Food: Alpastor Burrito This burrito was such a salt fest. The pork + beans were just super salty. What i expected =/= what i ordered. Very disappointing option. Would avoid... California Burrito Carne asada, fries, cheese, and sour cream... can't really go wrong here. The only issue I noticed with this burrito is that it's structured very interestingly. The fries and cheese are on the left side of the burrito while the steak is on the right side. I tend to eat my burrito one side at a time, but that means I won't get the ideal bite. Minor inconvenience... Potato/Beef Rolled Tacos: Corn tortilla filled with topping of choice. The potato one is just essentially mashed potatoes. I liked it, squeeze some lime and pour some salsa and it's really good. The beef one was a bit dry, but the salsa makes it better. This place is a decent go-to for me on campus. I hit it up about once a week since the quarter began. They have definitely gotten better and have started working through the steep learning curve of opening a restaurant. Wait-times aren't as long as they used to be. They're constantly working to make sure you have the best experience, so if things aren't right, just let them know. The best food I've had so far are the adobado fries. Crunchy tacos are ok, and the taquitos seem about average, but any of the meats on top of the fries are worth it. I usually split it over 2 meals since there's so much food. Breakfast is pretty tasty as well -- I think I had the chorizo plate. And the homemade corn tortillas are AMAZING. Will be back regularly. read more

Carnitas burrito was full of oil. Literally couldn't pick it up because it was so greasy, falling apart and grease running down my hands. Every time I cut into it another huge pool of grease would flow out. The meat was mostly skin and fat. Aside from meat there were some tomatoes, which were scant, and guacamole, which was the only decent part. Ate about a third of the burrito and felt sick. Really want this place to thrive, but can't say I'll be going back any time soon. read more

Good place! I always get their Triton quesadillas. Plenty of cheese and guac. My only complaint is that the slicing of the quesadilla makes for an awkward eat. Good portions, ok prices. Meat plates are generally cooked well: flavorful, well cooked, served hot, etc. Hard tacos always end up too oily with meat shreds (both chicken and beef) being way too over cooked to hardness. read more

This place really disrupted the taco space at UCSD, which admittedly was nearly nonexistent before the days of Taco Villa (an unforgivable sin on the part of UCSD). I can't think of a taco place short of Puesto that I would rather have on campus. Great burritos, great tacos, good selection, and decent salsa. I particularly like their mango habanero salsa, which seems to be new, so maybe it was introduced by request. California burrito is pretty good if you want an elegant, simple burrito. The Triton burrito is also very good, but you really have to be up for a lot of combinations of flavor and a lot of food. The tacos are rather pricey considering they are street taco sized, but that's forgivable because they are quite good. My only real complaint is that there is often a long wait for my food, but it's worth it. read more

The tacos here are amazing! They are made to order, and they sit on a little cloud of fluffy tasty yummiest fresh tortillas and the burritos are just big and delicious-- you can really make 2 meals from them. I had the al pastor, carne asada and fish taco, wish I bought more people so I can taste more items on the menu. My brother had the burrito! He came hangry, and tore it up. I ordered a California burrito here TWICE lol. Both times the burrito was majority French fries, they say it comes with guac but it didn't either time. I opened it and searched to be sure. Comparing this to all the other places you can find food on UCSD campus, I'd say this is one of the better options. The tacos are a little too small for me, so I usually don't get them even if it's taco tuesday. I feel like the burritos are more worth. Lunch lines can get long, but if you go around 2 or dinnertime it shouldn't be a problem. read more

I tell you what....for on campus food, this place is LEGIT. 5 stars just for being on campus. Their carne asada meat is not too tough, more in the mid range but that's fine. This place is located in the outskirts of Revelle college at UCSD, near the food coop and bike store. Ordered a Cali burrito and a horchata. The prices are a bit high (but what can you expect, it's La Jolla). The portions were really generous though, and the burrito was freshly made and ingredients were evenly distributed, although it was a bit meat heavy. This is the best place to eat on campus at UCSD!!! The food is always up to my expectations and the service is unmatched. I eat there almost everyday, and so do many other students such as the Military Veterans of UCSD. As a VET myself, I like going to eat there because the make me feel at home. Felix the owner of the shop, takes great pride in the quality of his product and the contentment of his service. He also listens and cares about what his customers want. I asked him why he didn't have tortas on the menu and the next day he made one just for me. They sold so fast he put them on the menu full time. Great place to eat, and chill. read more

Brand new spot on campus - cool place to grab Mexican food if you don't have a car and can't get to the other spots down the 5. The location is clean which is a huge plus. The environment is modern with a nice sound system that is clean yet does not obstruct conversation which I like. I've only had the carne Asada fries and surf and turf fries which were both great. The beef and shrimp were both cooked well and tasted good. A little expensive and the wait was pretty long (went in around 11:30 on a weekday). This place has potential to be really good! First timer at Taco Villa, but long-time lover of California burritos. 2pm, not the lunch rush, but still had about 5 people in front of me. They were helped, there as a pause to answer the phone and bring more food out, then I ordered. $7 for the burrito to go. Order was up in less than 5 minutes. It's huge and tastes great. The meat is well seasoned and tender, no tough spots. I'll definitely be back. I felt bad that I didn't have more cash on me to leave more than a 50¢ tip. read more

This is my second time getting a burrito here. The 1st time I ordered a chicken asada burrito. The chicken was greasy and covered in some weird tomato sauce. Also I think the chicken was prefrozen because I had a few cold and hard pieces of chicken in my burrito. The second time I ordered a California burrito with guacamole. This burrito was poorly wrapped and soggy inside. Also the cheese tasted grainy and weird. The guac didn't taste good either and was a waste of extra money. I don't know how you can mess up burritos so badly. If you want a good burrito, go to Vallartas (not too far from UCSD). Way better quality and comes with guac! read more
