Hubby and I ordered 2 pork and pineapple tacos (1 each), chips and salsa, 2 waters, one Diet Coke and one can of beer for $35. $5 a taco isn't bad as long as they're a decent size and they're not. Tasted very good but super tiny. The view is gorgeous and picnic tables had umbrellas which provided much needed shade on that hot day. I really wanted to like this place; so much so, I went there on my birthday. The line was too long (a couple halfway down had already been waiting for 20 minutes), so I actually went back the next day for lunch. The line was maybe 10 people long. There's a sign saying that Tacocina is a "cashless" business, and they give 3 reasons as to why: 1. Safety. Ok, I get that, I guess. Armed masked bandits in one of the most expensive neighborhoods could be a problem. 2. Efficiency. 3. Speed. Reasons 2 and 3, to me, are examples of a business (or a politician) thinking that because they say something, it's true (or that I'm going to believe it). Tacocina is neither efficient nor speedy. 10 People on line should not be a 15 minute wait just to order, and then I shouldn't have to wait 15 minutes for my tacos to be ready after I order. And unfortunately, like so many other reviewers say here, the tacos are just not good. And at the risk of repeating myself, I really wanted to like this place. I guess that the best tacos will still be made by the honest, hard-working non-celebrity who gives it to you hot and fresh and takes cash. read more

This is a great place to sit and eat when you catch a mild hunger attack at the park...seeing as this is the only place that provides an option to purchase food inside the park, it makes it that much more delicious...Now I'm an AVID fan of all things that deal with Mexican cuisine, so to say I was super excited to try this place is an understatement. I made a straight dash to this eatery before checking out the rest of the park. They have cute picnic benches along with Umbrellas to shield you from the Sun should you decide you don't want to melt under the sweltering Sun. I should first mention that they are a Cashless establishment, so be sure to have your Cards handy. There is one station for ordering and the other for pick up. The line can easily wrap around the ordering counter, so be patient and have a phone handy so you can take pictures of the park while you wait. The line moves fast so no need to panic lol.....I ordered the Chicken Adobo Taco, Chips w. Guac & Salsa, the Mexican Ceviche Cocktail and a few Margaritas...now the drink that day was a huge overload of Sour Mix..while I get the fact that we are at a park and not the bar, I should still be able to wince at the first sip of my drink from a kick of Adult happiness aka Tequila and not because I just swallowed a gallon of lime juice lol....given the heat that day, my ice instantly melted into my drink, thereby diluting it, so it was tolerable. The tacos are decently priced with standard tastings....Would I still buy it next time I go to the Park? probably...because they are the only eatery in close proximity and you can have your cocktails within the seating area. The food is nothing out of the ordinary, but it is convenient and decently priced given the area. Its not that good honestly , and a little pricey but theres nothing else around and they have great seating , guac needs more flavor and tacos are not great especially the shrimp one , all is bland and low quality . I wouldnt recommend the food . read more

4 stars more for the location and view than the food. The food was average at best. I would never tell anyone to take a train or an uber and get here for the food but do get here for the view and atmosphere. Editable just not anything to really brag about except the view and proximity to the kids playground. We had some margaritas, the chicarrones and a steak taco. All was great! The margs are on point - strong enough to taste the tequila, not too sour, not too sweet. Great views obviously. We went on a Monday afternoon so there was no line, but I really can't understand docking stars because the lines are long in the first place. It's summer, it's Williamsburg, there's a city view...lines are par for the course. Besides, if you are somewhere outside on a summer Saturday and there are no lines, it is probably because the place isn't very good! read more

1 Star for view, and 1 Star for friendly staff. Other than that this place is terrible. Does Danny Meyer even eat here?! I don't believe he would like the food if he showed up unannounced. Tacos are subpar, trying to make fresh to order tortillas doesn't work. Tortillas are cold. Long lines, have to wait in long line just for a drink. Why didn't they bring in a local spot or taco trucks? Danny Meyer needs to stick to hamburgers. If they brought in food trucks Tacocina wouldn't make it. Grab food from one of the million other places in the neighborhood and eat it at the park to enjoy the views, which won't be like that forever. Once the other FOUR buildings are up, Domino Park is going to be so crowded and not enjoyable. read more

Definition of OK. Sure, it's in a great location. Take a date here, walk along the water, get some tacos. Perfect date. But if you're a snob like me, and expect better from a guy of Danny Meyer's stature, then I would skip this. The guacamole taste like the premade guacamole from Costco. It is in the fridge of the place all day, so it doesn't taste fresh. I ordered every single taco. The beef was the only one that was tasty. The fish was kind of dry and boring. The chicken (as all chicken tacos are) lack flavor and originality. Go to Domino Park, and walk a simple 3-5 blocks up from Kent Avenue, and you can find a better cheap eats spot on almost every block. read more

Another 30m to get the tacos in what can only be described as a completely stupid and chaotic pick up window. The tacos? We got chicken, mushroom, beef, and shrimp. What a joke. All cold. Hard, cold tortillas. All dry, no sauces. One tiny lime per taco. All the meat was, you guessed it, cold. Beautiful views of Manhattan skyline. The line was a 25 minute wait. Its the sane concept like Shake Shack with the buzzers. No cash, just cards. Small menu. We had the chicken taco and the beef taco. The chicken was not very flavorful. The beef was good and had was tasty. We had the salsa and chips as well. The salsa was tasty and mildly spicy. Wished the salsa had some chunks. There was about a 10-15 minute wait for ur food. The eating area had only a few umbrella areas, on a sunny day its gonna be very hot. A short walk from the L train. The neighborhood is very nice. The waterfront has transformed beautifully. I would not go out if my way to return. Food was not bad but not terrific to make me come back specifically. read more

This place just opened, so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. Tacos should be more authentic, especially their chips and guacamole. they don't even fry up their own chips, even though it would be so simple. some corn tortillas cut up into 4s and throw into hot oil until golden yellow. Guac would of been better with some more cumin, garlic powder, lime juice and more salt Tacos and chips/guac were overpriced for their size. but still flavorful. it is place with a great view. great for a nice summer's lunch or dinner, but just prepared to spend over $40 to leave with a full stomach. read more

The place is cute and staff is friendly; they have an efficient order system but the food is not that great. The pork belly and mango sauce taco has a good texture, for my liking and for that price the one strip of meat is miserable! The sauce is super sweet, it honestly tasted like a mexican lollipop i grew up eating. The chicken adobo was a better taco not great in flavor but ok. The mushroom taco with elote (corn) sauce was also just ok for the price it felt like a rip off to get a thin piece of battered mushroom. The agua fresca is no where near an actual agua fresca it tastes like overly sweet strawberry lemonade. VERY artificial The Agua de Horchata was nothing like an horchata is supposed to taste like. Nothing close to it ! Honestly my recommendation is to go to a real taco truck and buy $2-$3 tacos that are so much more flavorful, cheaper, and have more meat. Only stop by this place for their alcohol if thats what you're in the mood for. If not just buy your own food before going into the park and sit on the grass with better food from a real taco truck. read more

this place is awesome. very good tacos for "fast food" and the drinks were also really good. i tried the shrimp taco and the pork and pineapple (al pastor) taco. after you order they give you a little buzzer to hold on to until your food is ready. the drinks came out fast and we didn't have to wait more than 5 minutes for the tacos to come out. this place is located in the middle of domino park with great views! read more

Today was my first time ever at this place and absolutely loved it!! From the chips and guac to the tacos themselves everything was super delicious and service was quick. Mediocrity! Wait in line for 45 minutes. The tortillas are on par w what you buy at a grocery store; certainly nothing special. The salsa is basically marinara; no good at all. The guacamole was bland and had onions in it (filler, to save money, cheap move). The chips were maybe tostitos (not good whatever they were). Staff was friendly. Location, without a doubt, a beauty. But here's my concern regarding this new unique spot along the Manhattan skyline. I would like to ask the management of Tacocina what it truly means to cherish one's customers, take responsibility for running such a profitable business in a great location, be truly hospitable and act with foresight that can protect people's experience buying food and drinks from you. There's a simple letter size sign located at the line section stating that it is not allowed to take alcohol outside the Tacocina seating area, it is illegal etc, but is this small b&w sign enough??? Is the seating area clearly marked by you? And are you engaging and reminding your customers actively that there are cops patrolling the area on a frequent basis, looking to give out tickets? Two couples, sitting and chatting on the grass, which is less than 6-8 feet away from the Tacocina kitchen & cashier, were pulled to the side by two cops before my eyes and got tickets because they were drinking alcoholic beverages from Tacocina. I felt sorry for them, I felt that a warning to them from the cops would have been enough, and I felt that this could've been avoided if the Tacocina management and staff would have assumed a caring attitude toward their customers, reminding them of patrols and also warning them about sitting on the adjacent small grass section with alcoholic drinks. It is not clearly marked where Tacocina area ends. I would like to encourage the restaurant management to go the extra mile and start nurturing a deeper relationship with their customers, which goes beyond merit or demerit, profit or loss. Be a protector and a friend to your customers! I believe this would certainly create a feeling of safety among your customers, and with this feeling they will certainly wish to return to your vibrant and promising looking place. read more

Long lines bad service... for one water you have to wait 7 min ... tacos missing Mexican touch ..

I went here last night with a friend and ordered, and paid for two margaritas. We sat right by the pick-up window for over 15 minutes waiting to hear our names called. Finally I went up to ask about our drinks, the woman behind the counter ignored me for several minutes and then told the woman making drinks that I was waiting for two margaritas. I stood there for another 10 minutes and finally got someone else's attention and asked again about our drinks. The woman making drinks asked what name they were under, when I told her she said "oh I called your name and you didn't come get them so I gave them to someone else", if they did call my name they must have whispered because I was standing there the whole time. Then a third woman walked up to the the women at the window and said to them that she had seen me come up and get the drinks and that I was basically trying to scam them for free drinks, I heard her say "yea I'm pretty sure that's the same girl" at which point they all stopped and turned and looked at me, and the girl making the drinks said "well now I don't know what to do". I heard all of this because they were about two feet away from me, not sure why they thought it was appropriate to talk about customers right in front of them, and on top of that accuse me of trying to steal drinks. Finally they gave me two margaritas with the attitude like they were doing me a favor. They were incredibly rude to me, and shamed me for something I didn't do. This place is so disorganized and unprofessional. I am never coming back. read more
