I came here at an odd time - 3ish on a Tuesday so my experience may not be the norm. On the whole, I thought the food was mediocre. I had 3 tacos, from best to worst: shrimp, beef, fish. The shrimp was delicious, fried crispy then layered with a sauce that complimented it well. The beef was not bad with a decent amount of beef. The fish taco had way too much batter on the fish - I had to take it apart just to eat it. Free chips and salsa but the chips were mid and honestly I'd rather pay money for better chips. The cheese dip was huge, pricey for cheese dip, and oddly sweet. Service was great though. Our server was friendly and professional, making sure to check on us frequently. I appreciated this since we were sitting outside and sometimes that can lead to being neglected. The outside seating was nice with options to sit on the busier Chestnut Street side or the quieter Avila Street side. We opted for a table on the quieter side with overhead heaters that our server offered to turn on for us. I think the current yelp rating of 3.5 ish stars is correct but since I can't rate with half stars, I'm bumping this up to a 4 for the good service.

I'm happy I was able to try Tacolicious while I was in San Francisco. I have used their cookbook for years. My husband and I came here on a beautiful sunny day so we sat out on the patio. We each got two tacos and split an order of elote corn. Highly recommend getting the corn!! All the flavors were really tasty! I really liked the orange sauce! The drinks were also great. We got a margarita and a paloma. Our server was great and answered all my questions and got us everything we needed. Can't wait to get back here next time I find myself in San Francisco!

There are several Mexican food places to eat in the area. One of our go to spots is Tacolicious. He loves the MF tacos. We shared the side of broccolini and carrots and I had the kale salad. The three carrots were so under cooked that I couldn't cut them. Maybe don't cook at all and do separate. The three broccolini pieces were stringy, but at least cooked. Don't order. The salad was yummy. There's enough to get on the menu that's good, but with other places to go, I would love it if they could do better with the carrots.

Very pricy but on the plus side the tacos actually have a good portion of meat/protein in them and they don't skimp. They did get my drink order wrong but otherwise the staff was friendly and explained all the different sauces. Didn't have a reservation but we didn't have to wait. Would definitely recommend making one as it can get busy.

Stopped in for a snack with my sister the other day and got seated immediately. We received complimentary fresh chips + salsa. Huge fan of the house salsa. They have some of vegetarian and vegan options, like 4 or 5, which I appreciate even as a pescatarian. I got a Baja fish taco + a vegan chorizo/potato one (2 for $15) + 2 Baja fish tacos for sis + a can of tecate for me + a green juice for sis + a side of refried beans sprinkled w/ cojita cheese. The "chorizo" taco was bad. It lacked flavor, tasted strange. The fish tacos were pretty good, not a fan of the flour tortillas but that may be my fault for not reading and assuming they came on a corn one.. All of the salsas that came on the side + the pickled onions + the beans were GREAT, though. My sister said the green juice was refreshing and would get it again. Our waitress was awesome and quick which heightened our experience so this was really a 3.5 but 4 doesn't feel right especially when I noticed there was another taco shop right across the street.

Food quality has done way downhill! I remember in ~2019 the food was delicious, fresh, and interesting. I just moved back to SF and was excited to enjoy this place again, but the food was giving Taco Bell and the meat portions were super stingy. Pluses were the nice, clean restaurant and kind service. Happy hour prices were good but the fake cheese and overly salty salsa were not.

I came to Tacolicious this past Saturday for a few afternoon drinks with friends. We were able to get seated for 4 easily, although the restaurant was definitely busy even at 3pm. Our waiter was friendly and attentive, regularly checking in with us and refilling our complimentary chips and salsa. We got margaritas and it turns out their happy hour also applies on the weekend from 3-6pm! This was a really great deal, each marg was only $8 during happy hour. The vibe is really nice inside, we sat at a high table and the music was appropriate for the setting without being too loud. I would return again for happy hour or dinner!

I visited Tacolicious this Saturday evening hoping for a fun night out, but left completely disappointed. The service was chaotic from the start, our bartender barely acknowledged us . For the price, I expected way better quality and presentation. The vibe was nice and the music was lively, but that couldn't make up for the poor service and underwhelming drinks. I won't be coming back, and I wouldn't recommend it unless they seriously improve their staff training and menu

A wonderful photo of my favorite president over the table made me happy. Apparently he was too...with the food.

I had a great lunch there today. A delicious fresh salad, smiling servers, salsa so good I wanted to take a bath in (I took it home instead). There is a white board that details each month what school or np they donate 10% of proceeds to each month. I love that.

    Chips & fabulous salsa!

Love this spot! Service is very friendly & accommodating. I've been here a few times, and we are quickly seated & taken care of. Food arrives quickly as well. Great energy in the restaurant. Love the bustling atmosphere, but not too loud to prevent conversations. Complimentary chips and salsa are absolutely delicious - one of my favorite salsas out there! Many vegetarian options - highly recommend the kale & sweet potato tacos (not pictured) and potato & Soyrizo tacos. With the spicy salsas provided, dishes are just bursting with flavor. Black beans & mint-cilantro rice are a great addition. Tried the Velouria salad this time, and it lives up to the hype! Has a tangy dressing that pulls the dish together. We will be back!

A coworker recommended this place, and now I recommend it to everyone. What stands out is the balance--everything is done well. The meat is rich and flavorful, the tacos themselves are just as good, and the consommé ties everything together perfectly. I've tried places where one part is strong but something else falls short, but not here. You also get free sides like onions, cactus, radish, and beans, which make the meal even better. I've been coming back ever since, and I can easily finish three tacos in one sitting. On my most recent visit, I had two birria tacos and tried their birria ramen. It was surprisingly good--comforting and flavorful, more like a homemade dish than anything instant. For drinks, I've tried all their jugos, and the jamaica is the standout--get it in a large. Service: Friendly, efficient, and straightforward. Orders come out at a good pace, and the staff keep things moving even when it's busy. Ambience: The space has a Frida Kahlo-inspired design, which adds character and makes it feel lively and unique. There's one restroom available. Parking: Parking can be a bit difficult in the area, so expect to walk a little--but it's worth it once you get your food. If you're serious about finding a really good birria taco, this is one to try.

Tacos El Patron is worth the effort to figure out where to park, etc. it's not quite a hole in the wall, but it definitely is on the smaller side, and we ended up getting food to go because it was just easier. The birria quesadilla was a total surprise. It was FILLED with a very generous amount of meat. The meat was tasty, lightly seasoned, and the portion truly is a shareable. We asked about the consommé and I don't know if they just forgot it or what happened but we never got to try it. The shrimp taco was tasty and absolutely filled with again generous amount of shrimps. Ironically, it wasn't my favorite. It just was lacking the level of flavor that I really wanted. The Carne Asada was mediocre at best and not something that I would order again. The winner out of the numerous items that we ordered was the pork belly and the Al pastor. Between the two, the Al pastor is the one that you want. Incredibly well seasoned, a nice hint of light spice, the meat was juicy and tender, and the combination in the taco was outstanding. Seriously so good that my mouth is watering just thinking about how tasty it was. The chips were nothing to write home about, and I didn't really care for salsas that came with the meal. Really reasonably priced, generous amount of food, and absolute worth the push in enjoying their food! Diners tip: there seems to be a description in cost between ordering online versus in the restaurant and you may get a better deal ordering online

As for the food, we ordered two super burritos, strawberry drinks, and a steak and shrimp quesadilla. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the hype for me. Both the burritos and quesadilla were light on the meat, which was disappointing given the price and reputation. The flavors were decent, but nothing that stood out compared to other taquerias in the Mission. As a San Francisco native, I know there are many other spots in the area that offer better value and more generous portions.
