Being one of the oldest and most respected comes at a cost, and that's about $6 a taco and $11 for quesadillas. The food was really good, a lil greasy but it was really good. The best thing about Tacombi was the atmosphere and the Pineapple water drink. Everything else was gross. Birria taco was drenched in oil (which to be fair, they usually are), but this was excessive to the point where it took about a dozen napkins to soak the oil and that still didn't cut it. I don't even know how it's possible but the al pastor tacos and al pastor quesadillas were so oily, yet so dry. Addition of guacamole barely helped its dryness, and honestly the guac was fairly flavorless too. The Baja crispy fish taco was not only flavorless, but it was as if their oil wasn't even heated to the proper temperature. It was a soggy mess. I can't understand how there are any decent reviews. We came on a Saturday night, so it's not like it was a weekday where it wasn't busy and the food was sitting... Never again. read more

I had a great experience last week at Tacombi while out with my husband. Our waiter, Justin, was very attentive and provided nothing short of exceptional service. I loved the indoor/outdoor feel. Great for summer nights. The food was absolutely great. we ordered a combo of tacos and quesadillas. We also were able to chat with the partnering manager, Kelcar (forgive my spelling), who was also very polite and professional. Though they are new to the area, that doesn't mean they don't fit right in with their exceptional food and service. When coming to Tacombi you can either make a line and order at the window, they also offer table service or you can scan a QR code and order from your phone and someone brings it to your table which is a pretty cool option. I've been to the Tacombi in Brooklyn before and I remember the corn tasting sooooooo much better there. The corn I had today only had the cheese sprinkled at the top by the time I got to the middle of the cup the corn was plain corn from the can.It was a little disappointing. I also ordered 3 spicy margs and I felt they were either watered down or not enough alcohol. As for the tacos, I had 2 of the birria tacos .. and they were good. Would I think of tacombi next time I want birria ? Probably not. Even though the atmosphere is nice with the outdoor seating and all I felt that they were a bit overpriced. Also... if you can't handle spicy food be very careful what you order. My sister ordered the carne asada and almost died with the jalapeños that were inside. Tasted like utter crap! Ordered/Pressed send on the Doordash app one minute before arrival. The food was already sitting there packed up when I arrived and the food was COLD! Doordash had a deal for Taco Tuesday and I have a feeling they were unloading unsold food. The birria taco was a soggy greasy mess, consume was gross and sour. The fish taco was soggy, the al pastor was ice cold with a dried-out pineapple slice. The sliced limes didn't have any more juice left when squeezed as they were probably cut sometime a week ago. Carne asada taco, for $6.95, was really small, the meat was overcooked, the corn taco itself needed a minute or so on the grill, onions and jalapeno gave it a nice taste, but not enough to save it. Chicken quesadilla was disappointing for a different reason. Too salty. Otherwise just an ok taste. For $8.95, it was a better value than the taco. Drinks were good, service was very good. First things first, what a nice setting! I visited this place today with my boyfriend and we both liked how big and open the whole place was. They had a nice area open outside that was in the sun that had picnic tables, plus seating under the building itself. Everything was opened up since now the weather is getting warmer. We walked up to the front to place our order and it didn't take too long to wait for our food to come out. While we waited we ordered our drinks. He got a Lager beer and I got a pina colada! The bartender wasn't super friendly but either way the drink I got was still pretty good for the price. The food itself price wise was reasonable and all of what we ordered tasted fresh and delicious! We were very happy with the service here as well as the food! Definitely a great place to come to if your in the mood for some scrumptious tacos or quesadillas. We will definitely be coming back soon! The portions are a bit on the smaller side, but what you're eating is high quality and extremely delicious. The drinks themselves are fantastic, and reasonably priced for the area. Not much service necessary, it is mostly self serve or QR based here. This I see as a great thing, because it's also the perfect place to go sit and read or work. I'll start with the positives. - The corn esquites. flavorful. 5/5 - fish tacos were crispy and flavorful 5/5. - The Al pastor taco, which should've been the star item, was SUB PAR, it was more on the bland side. I've tried authentic tacos in Astoria and in LA, and compared to them, this is subpar. But hey this is prob one of the best you can get if you're in Nassau county. 3/5. - watermelon drink was pretty good! 4/5. - the horchata.... I think they forgot to put condensed milk bc it wasn't sweet at all and super diluted. I tasted just water and cinnamon. 1/5. Went on a Thursday evening.
