This restaurant lost my patronage last year. On a whim I decided to give it another shot two weeks ago and have gotten lunch there several times since. Some familiar faces, but mostly a new staff, and I gotta hand it to them. Excellent service: very quick, and without error everytime since returning. Poetic justice. That's all I can think of when I see this place now a Tacos Ameca instead of Pinochios Pizza. Back around 2009 I was see this little taco truck with a massive crowd. It wasn't until one night around 10:37pm that I was craving Mexican but not Taco Bell did I come here. After that first bite into a pillowy tripas taco did I truly get the adventure to try anything. One day that changed when the owner of Pinochios Pizza chased this taco truck off the lot. Now that they thrived and moving into the very Pinochios Pizza former building is it truly poetic justice. I came here today. I think half the menu isn't available yet but that's to be expected when they first open. The layout is odd but it makes sense based on the former layout of Pinochios. The food tastes the same as Tacos Ameca #1 but if you love tripas only Juan makes it good. Only open till 9. Limited parking. read more

Sorry tacos Ameca but I have to sink your ship. I used to come here frequently the past few years and always got good portions, good tasting food and the order was always right. I've gone 5 times since Covid hit and the all around quality has gone down hill: not the same tasting, extremely small portions on my taco plates and I've paid the extra money for avocados each time and only received the avocados once. I gave them a few chances recently, thinking it was just one or two bad experiences, but all five were bad so I'm done. read more

The BEST tacos! HUGE Home made tortillas, fresh avocado, delicious salsas. One taco comes Two big freshly hand made tortillas. Gilroy has a hidden gem with Tacos Ameca #2. This place never dissapoints us. Al Pastor is so tasty, that's our favorite, but really any meat is delicious. The variety of fresh salsas make them even better. The salsa bar also has fresh cucumbers, lemons, pico de gallo and radishes. Fast and friendly service. Big seating space inside and a couple tables outside as well. Highly recommended! read more

Their Mulitas and burritos were the best I've tasted in the bay area. Their Al Pastor meat was on the spindle cooking nicely. Handmade (in front of you) tortillas were in everything. Homemade taste with all the ingredients mixed nicely. A little pricey (well we are in the bay area so there is no "cheap" Mexican shops) but so worth it! read more

I've never been to Tacos Amecas's original location. But I can speak for this place. As soon as you pull into the parking lot you can smell the fresh meat and tortillas being made. The interior decor is not the best but the unique Mexican menu and relaxing atmosphere make up for it. I had the alarmbre and tacos de asada and couldn't be more pleased. I just stopped here out of the blue and now it's my favorite Mexican place outside of Salinas. This is my go to spot now when I'm in Gilroy. read more

Long overdue review for this one! My boyfriend and I love the Ameca one and two, we literally come down from San Jose to get our cravings satisfied with some fresh home made tortillas. The food is literally consistent every time we come, it's that good. This Taco house is probably one one the best taco places I've been too. There Aśada Taco is one of the greatest menu item there ever is. I give this 4 stars because the food is fabulous, but the restrooms and the overall environment isn't very good. The could use another paint job and cleaning on the restrooms. Stopped by here on the way to the gilroy outlets on Memorial Day weekend because we didn't want to deal with the crowds in gilroy. Little gem this place is! The food is delicious and the portions are huge (a bit pricey but you get what you pay for). I love that there was a salsa bar that's self serve! We stopped by here a couple of times while down in the Gilroy area and compared to some other taquerias, they're pretty good. The only issue we had was one of the times we went in, we had the vampiros and they came out absolutely dripping in oil.... I know, I know, it's not the most healthy item on the menu but when I say dripping, I mean we were able to pour out oil onto a napkin and completely soak it. It was kind of gross.... the rest of the items we ordered were pretty good. I'll update this again after a couple more tries... perhaps we just went in on a bad day. read more

There seems to be no limit to the failure to communicate here. Had to have a super burrito remade twice because they kept putting onions on it. They apologize and make the mistake again! Super bummed out about this place, I usually go to Ameca #1 but the convenience of this one being closer my house I placed a phone order and went to pick it up. Well they told me it would be ready in 30 minutes.... not true. I showed up payed and they said my order would be right up. Waited another 15 minutes for no reason because I thought my order had been ready. So I asked the lady what was the status on my order... and she said they forgot to make it WTH needless to say it was a $75 order for tacos... moral of the story is to just drive to Ameca #1 on 10th street because the service is just not the same at this location. read more

If I could put no stars I would. 15 minutes prior to arriving my wife called in our order of two burritos and some tortilla chips. Upon arriving I was told please wait another 5 minutes which I did. 10 minutes after arriving I was told to wait another 10 minutes while three orders after me had already got their food and left.
