Tacos Baja has been around for such a long time but I barely tried this place out when a friend took me to try this spot out. The line was out the door on the wednesday the I came during the night. I wasn't sure what to expect since I do see this line quite a bit but I never actually came and waited in it. Overall the experience of having to wait and getting your food after such a long time is pretty wonderful. The fish tacos are deep fried with lettuce and some type of sauce on top. If you enjoy eating tacos and haven't been to this spot, you should probably check it out. If you do go on Wednesday they have the fish taco special going on from morning till when they close. read more

My family's go-to taco place! The restaurant itself is pretty small, but there's some patio seating as well if you want to dine in. There's also a private parking lot at the back, but there are only a few spaces. I'm a fan of the fish tacos (only $1 each on Wednesdays!) as well as the barbacoa, though they do have several other items on the menu. The servings are great for the price, with a generous amount of toppings for the tacos. They also have a great side bar with limes, chiles, and onions, and you can also ask for hot salsa. This place does get quite busy, especially during peak times, but definitely think it's worth checking out. read more

Delicious. The long lines, especially on $0.99 taco Wednesday's, are testament to that one word. The fish or shrimp tacos are mouth wateringly good and the shrimp quesadilla is big enough to share. We tried this place based on Yelp reviews during lent and we've been regulars ever since. There are several locations throughout the greater LA area, but the Whittier one is our choice. The $1 fish taco Wednesday is a huge plus and I'll never take it for granted (if you live in North Cal you start to realize how much of a deal that is). I wish I had a picture but I inhale them every time It's a hit or miss though it seems. My mom, grandma and I love the place, but my brother doesn't like the fish tacos so much. He does enjoy the carne asada tacos, though. We've been to both locations on Whittier Boulevard. Both have similar results. Sometimes I want more sauce on the tacos. Come here for their Wednesdays fish taco special! Where else can you get fish tacos for $0.99? They give a good portion of fish, its fried well (although a tad greasy), and comes with all the fixings (pico, cabbage, cilantro, unidentified white sauce) if you want it. They have a self-serve station where you can pick up chili peppers (SO GOOD), pickled onions, and lime slices. The line can get long, but it moves relatively quickly. I think they take credit card, but the last time we were there, their machine broke so its best to just BRING CASH. The parking in the back is a lot bigger than the other location. Tacos Baja is easily the best fish taco place in Whittier. If you're debating between Taco Nazo and Tacos Baja, go to Tacos Baja. Everything on their menu is amazing but their fish tacos, shrimp tacos, and shrimp ceviche are my favorites! A big plus is that they clean their shrimp well. I will say that they don't have the best horchata. It tastes watered down. If you come on a Wednesday expect a line out the door and around the street because thats dollar fish taco day! I always get the Baja Taco because I prefer the flour tortillas; their corn tortillas are too "corny" for my tastes. It's an hot spot taco place located on Whittier Blvd near Virginia Ave in Whittier. For dinner last Wednesday night, I got myself 3 fish tacos for $0.99 each. Size of the tacos are pretty reasonable. The fish tacos includes fried fish (obviously), tomatoes, onions, cilantro, and some special sauce which I do not know what it is. It actually very good for a Taco Wednesday at a low cost. Some other time I came to Tacos Baja, I had fish taco and Baja's taco. The Baja's taco tastes so good. Baja's taco includes fried fish and fried shrimp and some usual stuff on it. Very flavorful. The only thing is, it costs $3.49 each, but still worth the money in my book. Their parking can be an real pain, but there's street side parking which I highly recommend parking there if parking inside is full, especially on a Wednesday as it can get kind of crowded. I've had Campechanas in many places! There have been some terrible ones and some that were so-so! The one I had here at Tacos Baja was worth every penny! I came in for a quick lunch and was just going to have the Shrimp Burrito and the hubby was having the Baja Burrito! We had already placed and paid for the order when I decided I wanted extra avocado! Well its a minimum of $5.00 to use a credit card and the side of avocado was $1.60. So I thought why not try the Campechana! I ordered a small so I wouldn't be too disappointed! BIGGEST MISTAKE EVER! It was so good, they pack that cup as much as they can and then on top they put slices of avocado! It's just packed with so much deliciousness! All they need here is their liquor license! A cold beer would taste so good with this! Oh and of course they have those amazing roasted chiles slightly powdered with chili powder! It's a small restaurant so of course the line is going to be long but it moves very fast! We came in at about 12:45 and there was only two people ahead of us... by the time we ate and left the line was crazy. It was all the way near the parking lot but it's worth it! The parking is small but then again people are coming and going so there is always a spot opening! Restrooms are located outside in the back of the restaurant! THE BEST FISH TACOS in our book! We try to come here every OTHER Wednesdays so we miss it JUST enough to stuff our faces with it. There's always a line but it moves fast! The staffs are efficient and the ladies or should I say A LADY that are usually at the cashier should be called superwoman because she's FAST! Gotta keep the line movin'. Tacos Baja is under the same ownership as the Tacos Baja Ensenada in Los Angeles. So you can expect the same great tasting fish and shrimp tacos here. There are probably two good reasons I would actually prefer this location. One, it is much closer to my home. And two, the yellow corn tortilla they use here is always warm and moist. I believe they use white corn tortilla for their taco shells at the Los Angeles location, which tends to be slightly grainy in texture. It really is comparing apples to apples. The much closer proximity brings me back here, not its use of the yellow corn tortilla. I will, however, have to drop this place a notch because of their much ballyhooed but disappointing Tosadas de Cheviche de Pescado. I thought the layers of fish, while substantial, did not taste fresh and lacked a distinct flavor. I also felt the hard corn shell should have been pan-fried or even baked to make it warm and toasted. Instead, I got a tosada that was sandwiched between two hard shells that probably came right out of a bag. I would probably not order this dish again.
