Hands down the best fish tacos I've ever had! Came here with a group a friends a few weeks ago for fish tacos on a Wednesday night and it was great. 10/10 would recommend! They're packed! Everything you've got on a fish taco x2. The cream, the sauces, the cabbage and tomatoes. Everything. but it all stays intact. Add their pickled carrots and jalapeños and squeeze some lime and bam! You've got yourself what I call the best fish taco ever. We each got 5 tacos and were stuffed afterwards. Oh! and even better, the fish tacos are only .99 on Wednesdays. What?! 99 cents? You got it! Even more worth it. Service was great. The servers were super nice and accommodating. I was craving some fish tacos so my husband and I decided to come by here after seeing the positive reviews on Yelp. I ordered two fish tacos and one potato taco with an horchata to wash it down, and unfortunately I was not too impressed. I felt like the fried fish portion was small and it didn't really have much flavor.. even the potato taco was very skinny and lacking. I wanted to get a refill for my horchata and I would've paid for it, but there was a sign on their menu stating no refills. Maybe I came on an off day? As a hungry college student at nearby Biola University, our son can thank his friend Callie for introducing their crew to this place for 99-cent fish tacos every Wednesday for 4 years! The irregularly slices of fish are batter-dipped and fried to a puffy, crispy goodness, and presented on corn tortillas with a fine cabbage shred and baja sauce (chipotle and mayo?). It just doesn't get any better than this! Even at the inflation-adjusted price of $1.49, these babies are a great value. The line out the door moved quickly, with everyone ordering the same thing--a sure indication that they on to something really good! Recientemente tuve la desafortunada experiencia de cenar en un restaurante de Tacos Baja Mariscos mexicanos que me dejó completamente disgustado y decepcionado. Desde el momento en que entramos, quedó claro que la limpieza no era una prioridad. La cocina estaba sucia, con manchas cuestionables y un aspecto descuidado en general. Fue suficiente para perder el apetito al instante. Para empeorar las cosas, los basureros en todo el restaurante estaban rebosantes, emitiendo un olor desagradable que se quedaba en el aire. Era una clara señal de que el mantenimiento adecuado y la higiene escaseaban. Una experiencia gastronómica no debería implicar esquivar basureros e intentar ignorar el hedor. Como si las condiciones insalubres no fueran lo suficientemente malas, el restaurante tenía un televisor a todo volumen, atacando nuestros oídos y haciendo imposible mantener una conversación. Fue verdaderamente un desastre culinario. Para empeorar las cosas, la zona trasera del restaurante, donde se encontraba el baño, era un deshonor. El suelo estaba cubierto por una capa de mugre aceitosa, dando la impresión de que no se había limpiado en mucho tiempo. Era una vista perturbadora que solo reforzó mi decisión de nunca volver a este establecimiento. Lamentablemente, las consecuencias de cenar en este restaurante de Mariscos mexicanos fueron amplias. If you enjoy fish and shrimp tacos I highly recommend this place. They give you good quality plus quantity for what you pay for. The fish has been always tender and juicy. They do not skimp like other places where you get more batter than fish or shrimp. I've also gotten the shrimp cocktail which I enjoy as well. This place is so good. I only prefer this location due to better parking than one west on Whittier. They have 99 cent tacos on Wenesday but you will not regret paying a bit extra on a Thursday like i just did. Their tacos are perfect. Good fish, good cream, great sauce, and enough of a crunch with their cabbage. Plus they heat up their tortilla with something (oil) that makes them delicious. Usually Tacos Baja gets five stars from me. I mostly get takeout at the other Whittier location that's closer to me on Whittier Blvd. at Painter. This location, on Whittier Blvd. at First, has outdoor dining--a great amenity. However, I came here with a friend a couple weeks ago, and they served us cold fish tacos. This is a dealbreaker--and a heartbreaker. Another friend wants to get lunch this Monday and I just couldn't recommend this location. Other, lesser mall food fish taco joints fry up their fish and let them cool waiting for the next order. I don't eat that crap. I've only ever had chefs-kiss-perfect fish tacos from Tacos Baja so, for years, it's been my spot. Man down: Now I only have the Painter location. There were about 3-4 tables occupied so the place was not totally dead yet it was challenging to find a clean table. The food we ordered consisted of mixed seafood ceviche and baja style fish tacos. Overall, the food was very underwhelming. With the fish taco, all I could taste was the greasy batter. While the ceviche was bland, lacking any fresh flavor, mainly tasting of imitation crab. Also, ordered the Fish Ceviche tostada, it was packed with fresh natural flavors, and all of orders were delicious and satisfied the Mexican taste buds. My other sister ordered the Mixed cocktail it comes with Shrimp, Octupus, scallops, it so refreshing an delicious and a Shrimp soup to go for special person that was not able to join. My nephew order Fish tacos and the second nephew ordered the Quesadilla plate with rice and beans this combination plate it bigger than expected so he had to take a doggie bag. They have a condiment bar with chile gueros, yellow grill chiles, radishes, onions and limes. Overall, all of our food was very flavorful and tasty and we will definitely come back to have other of the items on the menu.
