There were a couple of flat screens showing either the game or some movie, but most of the folks eating here were conversing amongst themselves. I tried the birria flautas. They were okay, but looking at what some of the other folks got, I picked the best plate at the table. Ordering online was such a headache. Only 1 out of the 4 of us was able to and she admitted that she tried 4 times before it finally accepted her order. The rest of us ended up ordering by phone. I had barbacoa quesadilla as pictured and agua de limon and it was 19$. Small quesadilla for that price. They were so greasy and had chunks of grease. I felt like my mouth was coated in mantica. Yuck. Baked potato had absolutely nothing. Basically potato tossed in the microwave. Cheese enchiladas were way too spicy and the cheese looked so unappealing. Caldo de pollo was great. Stopped in on a Sunday morning for to go and was pleasantly surprised in how quick we got our breakfast and how tasty it was! The guy working the front was super helpful since I do not speak any Spanish, and the menu is mostly in Spanish and I can barely say "gracias" so that was so nice. There's something cool about this place. Chips given but no salsa (instead, rice pudding!). There's a salsa bar you can get what you need there it just doesn't come to the table. Coffee weak, flavored with cinnamon etc. Big water glass a plus. I ordered huevos rancheros. You get 2 sides which is generous. I added fries (no redeeming qualities; 1 out of 5 stars). Tortillas given are small corn ones (they didn't ask). Generous portion. Normally this is a two and a half star place, rounded up to 3 stars. But I have to add a star (to four, rounded up) for the indefinable qualities. It's kind of like when I went to Art's deli on Ventura boulevard in the valley, of LA, where there was an indefinable sense of History (actually there is an actual sense of History there; I picked up on it intuitively). Me and my buddy were driving in El Paso and I was starving for some food so I came across Tacos Chinampa on Yelp and placed a to-go order. This is an authentic Mexican restaurant which specializes in tacos but they have a full menu. It's located in a busy shopping center but parking won't be an issue. I went with the al pastor tacos which are served with rice and beans, onions, cilantro, and interestingly enough, corn on the cob. I've never seen corn served with tacos or really as a side at all at Mexican restaurants. I wonder if this is a Tacos Chinampa thing or if it happens at restaurants in Mexico. The meats were under-flavored and felt as though prepared beforehand in large batches (versus cooked-to-order). On "al pastor" specifically, I observed but didn't spot any trompo in the kitchen. This meal cost $16.29--rather overpriced for Taco Tuesday. Yes, the drink contributed. Sans that, I'd think the deal equalled to a normal taco order, but with more food. Of course, I went through their salsa bar. It was more quantity versus quality: most items tasted flat except one of the green salsas. They DID give a lot of food. I've wanted to try Tacos Chinampa since I moved here and I saw that they had a Taco Tuesday deal 2 for 1 Al Pastor tacos. The plate of 8 tacos, a baked potato, and condiments came out to be $8, so about $1 a taco. Man these things are tiny! Are they made for chimpanzee hands? It's delicious but it's definitely on the pricier side for such a small taco. The meat was kinda bland and fatty but the sauces made it taste better. I'm glad I tried it out, not sure if I'll come back for tacos at the regular price. But if I do come back, it's pretty easy to order curbside. The place was clean, and several waiters were very attentive, courteous and frequently came by the table to 'freshen up' our delicious coffee which had a very savory taste and aroma. So a very lovely Sunday afternoon was being had by myself and the fams, your average morning where making the bed and getting ready to go out and enjoy a beautiful day was in effect. When Monde (my lovely lady) asked me what i wanted for breakfast i was thinking that she meant she was gonna make some bomb pancakes again, sadly i was mistaken because the truth was even better...i got to pick what to eat! I had been craving some chilaquiles (tortilla, red sauce, and cheese) for quite a while now and i had remembered we had a Tacos Chinampa near the house. Now we had never been here for breakfast being that we usually came on Fridays to enjoy the mariachi and have some bomb tacos here, but i had recently seen that they had quite the breakfast selection at a very good price. We stopped by got seated and it took a bit to get helped, but after that everything with the service was great. I ended up ordering the Chilaquiles Montados (thats with a couple of eggs on top, you get to choose how) with over easy eggs and two sides. I picked beans and rice since i had been hankering for those as well. Before our meal got there we got treated to some Caldo with tortillas (not gonna call it tortilla soup since it was basically just chicken stock and tortillas) which was really really good, also this is one thing i love about most old school Mexican restaurants, they usually accompany their meals with a salad, some frijoles charros, or a little bit of soup of some kind. The plate came and my chilaquiles were amazing, almost as close as my Mom's own cooking which is saying a lot for a Messican. The plate was a good size, the eggs were properly cooked and the Limeade kept getting refilled. The meal was just what i needed. If you do decide to come just know that on Fridays from 8 to 10pm due to the Mariachis being there it does tend to get a little loud, so if that is not your style for dinner i would say just pass on this place. But if you like to have a nice "fiesta" while you eat, then by all means join them! read more

Found this little spot. Not the fanciest by any means but good grub. I'm from NE so this was delicious ! Tacos and burritos were great, along with the varieties of salsa. Staff is nice and pleasant, helpful when kids needed refills. We managed to show up when they had the ballon guy (pre COVID) and made all sorts of fun things for the kids. This is a spot for a pretty good street taco and other gems. Their prices are decent for the amount of food you get, the only quirk I would have is that they consider radish a side option instead of a topping . The wait staff agrees because more often than not they will just bring it to you on the side. My mother loved the baked potato with creamy butter. Their frijoles charros is definitely a side you need to select. All the tacos you get will be delicious and over flowing with meat. I think the building itself could use more cleanliness and updates. Up until the very end, everything was great! Our server was fantastic, cheerful and very helpful. She helped us by giving suggestions on food and drink and checked in with us several times. We ordered the steak tacos which were very good and even better once we paired them with the grilled onions and jalapeños offered in the salsa bar. So, we walk up to the register to pay and there I see an employee cutting up radishes.... I have passed this place hundreds of times thinking it was a small, mostly take out place with maybe a table or two inside- boy was I wrong! There are many tables inside configured to hold 4, 6 or the entire family! One of the things I miss being away from home is the Sunday family dinners; today I got that great "familia" feeling while I was here. Families were seated together enjoying each other and the food; it was great to watch. Huge sizzling platters (parrilladas) came out of the kitchen and were set down on the tables. They come in one person, two people or four serving sizes. They are basically fajitas in either pork, chicken, beef or mixed, and come with soup of the day, tortillas and a baked potato per serving. The aroma was amazing. I ordered the Plato Mexicano so I could sample a few things (pork tostadas, enchiladas, flautas, child releno, beans, rice and soup of the day. I was pleasantly surprised when my plate arrive because the presentation was very nice and the taste had that "home made" hint to it- it was great.
