Finally had an opportunity to return to El Paso after 20 years - been craving Chico's Tacos the whole time. My homie warned me it might not be the same experience, but I thought it was still pretty satisfying. To be fair, the first time I ever tried Chico's Tacos I didn't like it. After having it again, I (in)famously ate it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for two weeks. Not sure why people are commenting about service. Everyone was pretty nice when I went. It's a fast food restaurant with a very simple interaction model - know your order, give them your order, wait, get your order. They do have some old school flair. A definite gem in El Paso!!! A must eat at diner/dive. Great good and service. Friendly people and relaxing ambiance. We got the tacos, a cheese burger and a king hotdog. All were amazing. The buns are fresh, the burger and hotdog grilled to perfection. Burger tasted fresh along with all the veggie toppings. They are not skimpy on the shredded cheese for the tacos. Quick service when we came on a Friday afternoon. Easy to find parking--all locations are cash only! We went to the counter, ordered, got our ticket number, and picked up our food at the counter. We got 3 tacos with fries and their hot dog. The hot dog has I think 2 weenies, pickles, and chilis (with beans I believe) on a hamburger bun. Very tasty! The tacos and fries were seasoned well and their salsa packs some heat. Lots of indoor seating available and it wasn't too loud or busy. read more

Well, I haven't eaten at Chico's tacos in a while from all the bad things my friends are saying about the place that it has gone down me and my wife went to have dinner there last night and I can honestly say I've never been so disappointed in my life The juice had no flavor for the tacos. I come here all the time since it's my closest location and they always service you with a bad attitude. The rolled tacos taste overcooked and the fries were cold. Im giving this place 1star because I can't give it zero. This is without a doubt the worst fast food dining experience I have ever had. The food was at best horrible. The deep fried taco rolls were at least 2 days old and barely heated. They were dry and completely tasteless plus so tough you could barely chew them. To try to pass them off as food they emerced them in a nearly cold and extremely watery sauce. Hard to believe though is that the French fries were even worse. I ate 2 and nearly gagged. Its not the same Chicos of yesteryear. Back then you could feed the entire family and still make the rent, these days the cost will have you questioning why....WHY do you still visit. The modern day Chicos is a mere shadow of itself, runny or pasty (depending on the newness of the staff), tomato sauce, with an optional Jalapeno sauce, yellow cheese?? Its possible that its real cheese..... covering some tiny, bland rolled tacos that are filled with some kind of mystery meat. The combination of all three ingredients and lots of salt is what creates the unique taste. Once in a while, OG's get the craving from their days as a young person with stomachs still made of steel..... stopping after a night of drinking in Juarez at 3 am. Chicos has had enough of that and they are not open that late anymore. This week, after having not going there for at least a year or more, my stomach has decided that if I consume that crap again...it will turn in its resignation instead of just complaining about it for 2 - 3 days straight. Since I happened to be passing through El Paso, I thought I'd check out this iconic place that's been the latest rage on social media. I ordered the regular order of "tacos" which are actually rolled tacos or taquitos as one would normally call them. They come in a mild tomato sauce and packed with shredded cheese. I LOVE rolled tacos!! This combination was awesome. However, you do have to eat them fast if you don't want soggy taquitos. I contemplated ordering them separately from the sauce but really wanted to try it the OG way. I also ordered a side of crinkle cut French fries which were pretty good. One order my table got was cold, and soggy, but the other one hot and crispy. Someone in my group ordered a cheeseburger and raved how good it was! This place is cash only and they have an atm for your convenience if you forget. Oh, I almost forgot the best part........ They give you a spicy green sauce in soufflé cups when you get your food. Seems to me that ever since "lockdown" aka covid times Chico's has become hit or miss when one goes for the ol' comfort staple. my review on this location is not the not the food except for one a supervisor there a young man he has a curly hair entered the establishment today to order some every day I'm a i'm a regular there. I always get a triple and I always get extra cheese on the side water Sometimes today is June 3. I went in about 4 male supervisor had a black shirt on with he has curly hair was very rude to me when I went to pick up my order didn't have cheese on top of them. I was like heck I told the lady I'm isn't there cheese on top of this? I ordered a triple with extra cheese on the side and I always order this every time. The guy proceeded to give me an said OK no service and he gave me my money back and to get the hell out of is the most humiliating experience of my life. Let me start by saying that I'm from San Diego. We've got Mexican food of all ranges there: up-scale and casual, corporate and mom and pops, long-established and up-and-coming. This place ain't sexy but it's got that good warm feel to it and the food makes you feel right at home. Rate this dining experience today at the Chico's Tacos on Dyer St in El Paso one and a half stars. It was not totally horrible but it was the worst dining experience I've had in many years. I happened to be in the area and wanted to check out Kiki's but it was slammed...no parking available. I ended up checking out Chico's Tacos instead. Neither the sauce nor the taco shells nor the taco filling had any flavor whatsoever. I would say this was the most flavorless, disappointing meal I've had in the past twenty years. Leave this stuff to the locals who don't know any better. If you are from out of town and looking to sample some real El Paso style Mexican food, don't stop here. Forget it! The food was not horrible but it isn't good. Rate these rolled tacos around a "D"....meaning poor. The fries were the crinkly kind right from a freezer bag and appeared to be air fried. I used to love Chico's because it was a good bang for the buck and it was tasty. Then they changed their cheese. Grrr, but ok they get a pass because it was the supplier who wouldn't carry it anymore. The replacement cheese is meh. Now, they've jacked up prices to where a double is almost $7, and that's NOT with extra cheese. Cash only still. The meat has not been prepared like it used to either. Even at crowded times, the meat is hard like it's been sitting awhile. So, in a nutshell prices are spiking and quality is dipping. I'm not even gonna mention lack of customer service lately. Tried the tacos because of the local word of mouth reviews. First off- they are mini flautas, not tacos. I mean, I get it. Everyone has their local spin on things and it catches on. Don't get me wrong they're not inedible. But a fried mini flauta floating in decent salsa isn't worthy of any kind of fame. They are somehow expected to be eaten with a cheap plastic fork too. Weird. It doesn't bother me at all, but if you are basing a review on cleanliness- Let's just say I've eaten in Bourbon St places with a layer of funk all over it and they are cleaner than this place.
