A couple of weeks ago, we went across to Juarez, Mexico for a few hours. We needed to come back before noon to El Paso and we didn't have time for lunch. Once in El Paso we came to Tacotote next to Costco because my wife and I were craving Mexican food. We have been there several times and it a taqueria like in Mexico. We both ordered a package each. My wife had their chicken tacos and I had one shrimp and one mushroom tacos along with sides and a drink. We chose Horchata that we love. You order at the register and they bring your food to the table. Their tortilla chips are freshly made to enjoy with their great selection of salsas and condiments, all free of charge. Holy crap. Best al pastor tacos I've ever had! First time visiting El Paso and was told by multiple Lyft drivers that I needed to try this place. I was hesitant to get the regular tacos due to cost so I got the al pastor taco plate for $10+tax instead. I'm hungry again just writing this review. Meat was super savory, and guac added a juicy consistency to complete the taco. Beans and pico from the topping bar were standard. You can help yourself to unlimited chips as well. Seriously, this beats all the taco trucks I've visited in Houston and Galveston so far. I'll be back here the next time I'm in El Paso. read more

This was my first visit to a Tacotote. I'm in town for work, so I stopped in for a quick lunch. I ordered the Tacotote plate with two bistek tacos on corn tortillas and charro beans for my side. There was a decent section of food items and plenty of protein choices - including vegetarian. You also get free tortilla chips and a good selection of salsas and fresh toppings. The charro beans are absolutely delicious! I could've just had those and been content. The bistek taco meat was flavorful and moist. The interior is nice and open with plenty of seating. There is a drive thru option as well for on the go. The service was excellent. The employee who took my order was in training with another. Both had great customer service. The lady who brought my food to the table was also nice. My only thing is with an open fresh toppings bar and self serve tortilla chips, I'd recommend having a sanitizer station close by. You will definitely want to wash your hands or at least sanitize after using the utensils in the self serve areas. I would definitely come back here for a quick lunch. read more

Great, reliable taco spot! I brought along some coworkers that had never been to El Paso before, and likely never had good Mexican food before. My boss said these tacos were probably one of the best meals he's had!! We asked the cashier a lot of questions and for recommendations and she did a great job at helping us understand the menu. Tip: the rice & beans side is the same price as just beans so might as well get both! I love having the option to dress up my tacos with a variety of salsas and garnishes. On Sunday 2/2/2026 I went to the restraunt to get dinner at 8:45pm as I walked in the person at the counter turned off the menu boards and told me as I approached the counter that they were already closed for the night but the sign on the door said that they were open till 9:00 pm. Good signage is nice because Texas is hard to drive around if you don't understand their roads. Inside, you find the register at the back of the room. I tried to figure out the menu but had to ask. The guy behind the counter kind of mumbled through his mask. I decided on the nachos as it came up on the TV behind him. Made my life easier. Once the food came, I bellied up to the salsa bar. Great choices there. Something for everyone that have eaten at food trucks. The nachos were okay. I think the cheese was similar to the stuff you get at 7 Eleven. The rest of the toppings were higher quality. The drink area is above average. You have a lot of sugar soft drinks (few diet choices). You can get horchata or jimica too. It wasn't a bad experience. I went today and it was horrible. I went through the drive thru paid over $37 for my food only to be given old salsa and old guacamole. I should have checked it before I left but stupid me, I trusted them to provide me with fresh food. I guess the fresh food is for the customers that go inside and the customers that use the drive thru get the old food. Guacamole looked ok but it tasted really bitter like they used old limes. Also the Guacamole salsa was dark so it's old it wasn't the bright green when it's fresh. Im just so disappointed and the sad thing is they dont care. Best tacos I have ever had! Freshly made tortillas packed with a TON of meat iand the Sirloin and Bistek are both super tender and flavorful. Their salsa and topping bar is second to none and comes with free chips. All 9 of the salsas are freshly made and delicious, and range in heat from mild to very spicy. I'm writing as I'm sadly eating here. So you get the taco which is plain as it only has the meat - you're supposed to put all the toppings which are located in the salsa bar. I ordered the Chicken Adobado tacos along with Charro Beans and a drink. They make tortillas fresh and I ordered a flower and corn. The corn tortilla ended up falling apart. The Charro beans literally taste and look like freaking bean soup with bacon. There's no taste. And don't get me started with the drinks area which they actually have two large soda machines, one of them, which is overflowing with liquid, and the second one which is overflowing with ice and people are just using it and dumping everything in. They have "aguas frescas" which isn't fresh because it's from a machine - no thank you. I'm visiting El Paso and my colleague recommended this place and I am just not sure what you think of them anymore. I can't believe I'm here. I expected way more, considering that El Paso is known for their Mexican cuisine. Ordered a pastor taco. It was $3.75 per. I thought, at that price, its probably decked out. To my surprise it was just meat on a flour tortilla. It wasnt even pastor. On Christmas Day, this is the only place open! The shrimp taco was fantastic and the Barbacoa was pack with beef flavor and the shredded beef need no effort to melt in the mouth. All the condiments and s are fresh and tasty. While the price isn't exactly inexpensive, the quality was quite well. Tonight, didn't know what I wanted, so I got 3 tacos-fajita beef, the chicken adobado and shrimp (and a Tecate...;). Came out with limes, onions, pico, 3 different sauces that were awesome, this pink marinated onion that is normally reserved for royalty (ok, kidding there), and some pan fried onions with jalapenos that frankly I think I need to add to just about everything I eat from now on...so, yeah, I like this place. I think tacotote killed me. This food is so good, if I was on death row it might be my last meal and that's coming from a non-taco person. I've never been crazy about them, but this place is so good I could cry. I got the shrimp, barbacoa, adobo chicken and sirloin tacos plus a bunch of sides. The tortilla shells are super thin and they are filled with meat. Not only that but the meat isn't fatty, and it's so flavorful you could eat the meat by itself. I think all the sides were free, I got onions, salsa verde and rojo, cilantro, limes, pico and the side of guac was totally worth the $4 for the container. I cannot stress how amazing this food is, specifically the adobo chicken and sirloin tacos. I'm full but want to order more. They also packed the food extremely well. To have 2 salsas, pico, chopped onions and guac all in a little bag with napkins and have none of them spill? A1. Placed our order online for drive up. Once I got there I parked in the labeled stall and called the phone number as listed. No one answered the phone. After multiple attempts at calling I just picked up through the drive thru. It took me a total of about 20 minutes to get my food between calling and waiting in the drive through which wasn't ideal. Once I got to the window it only took a minute to get my food. Everything was hot when I got home and my order was correct. The food was great. I was very surprised at the quality considering its "fast food" but we were all happy. Everything had good flavor and the tortillas were fresh made. This place is definitely overpriced and overhyped. The lady who took our order had some difficulty when we asked her if she could add cheese to the tacos. And she was like oh so you want a quesadilla, we told her no just some cheese on top of the taco. And she said that's a quesadilla... she eventually got her manager and he then explained the difference between a taco and quesadilla as if we didn't already know the difference. I think it's important to note that the quesadilla had a 10-15 min wait listed on their menu. I'd love to know what it takes that long, seeing as it's not complicated and most people can make it in 5 at home. Finally they charged us for some extra cheese on the side. We also got their guacamole which was just avocado, which we had no problem with but they put some much lemon in it, it was overpowering. The menu also showed this overstuffed taco and what we got was far from that, not worth $5 per taco. I got the sirloin taco which was pretty tasty. I also liked all the sauces they had. They do give a good amount of beans and rice (you could easily split it between two people). The chicken taco wasn't good at all. It tasted like it was pre-made frozen chicken and lacked anything interesting. While this is not the worst place to get tacos and was overall okay, the price is not worth it, not even a little bit. El Taco Tote is my guilty pleasure. As a kid, we spent a lot of time in Juarez and I was always ecstatic when we were going to El Taco Tote. And now we have at least one ETT on each side of town! Now before you out-of-town naysayers start judging me when there's 1,687 authentic Mexican restaurants I could eat at, just remember this is a chain, fast food joint that occasionally we all crave. So no, I'm not comparing this to places like L&J's or Kiki's...I'm comparing it to places like Chipotle and Taco Cabana. I've had almost everything here, but I'm addicted to the Pork tacos! Always with the flour tortillas (I wish they sold them) and the onions. Let's have a moment of silence while we drool over the delicious, little things............... Oh man and the salsa bar! The Avocado salsa is the best I've had anywhere. There's at least 6 different options and then you can grab limes, cilantro or onions. The Pico de Gallo is pretty good too. At the front you'll find a self serve 'chip bar', but they only give you these rinky dink paper bowls to fill up. I always grab like four. I also use the bowls for the salsa. Ya I know the plastic cups are for the salsa, but I need more than a shot of that stuff. It's a chain so you know the staff is continually changing. If you're ever in El Paso and are looking for some quick but delicious food, this place is a must! Great for families or parties with a large room to seat plenty! There's also a glass room area that over looks El Paso and Juarez as well- very beautiful! Prices are a little bit expensive but all their food is cooked with their special marinade and all homemade and fresh. If you get the platter entrées, it runs around $21.00 for 3/4 of a lb with 6 piping hot tortillas, rice and their charro beans or baked potatoes. This place has certainly grown on me! Not sure why i was so resistant to this taco place for the longest time. Its most likely because I am super committed to my couole other spots and didnt wanna bother lol. Boy was i wrong about that! I absolutely LOVE their pastor tacos and shrimp tacos!! Their shrimp tacos are probably what wins me over the most because it has just the right grilled up flavors on such a delicious, freshly made tortilla. But what truly won me over before that were their pastor! I dont care who thinks pineapple with pastor is not an authentic mexican food, i freaking LOVE it! And they serve theirs with the perfect flavor of pastor and delicious pineapples. Very generous meat helping too and majority is actual meat, not just the fatty part! Not a fan of their queso fundido though. Maybe the first bite was good while the cheese was super hot and metly. But let that puppy start cooling down so that you can eat your shrimp or pastor first, that queso because too tough to even poke through for scooping. But I had been there before (2019) and had a week or so of eating there inside (2020) before the whole city was shut down. Could not wait till they started take out. Fast food tacos that the entire USA should have. There I said it. Forget about everything else, food is really authentic south of the border, tastes amazing for a fast food joint.
