A friend was staying at the nearby Quality Inn and when the need for eats came to pass we wandered just up the block and found this establishment. There was a decent crowd already inside of locals all enjoying supper so I had immediate faith in it. We were quickly seated and handed menus which appeared to be primarily in Spanish (this is a predominantly Spanish area so I should share that information). Though I don't speak any Spanish, I know a fare amount of dishes that I enjoy in Mexican restaurants and felt I could just work off of that. I ordered a plate of Enchiladas Suizas while enjoying the complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa was outrageous and I must find out how they make it or where they get it from. I am a big fan of the stuff. My friend opted for a simple salad and her plate was loaded which was nice to see and when my order came out I was suitably impressed. The order came with three enchiladas and I like to ask for one beef, chicken and cheese to get the full idea and they had a nice green sauce around them and fresh avocados on the top. It was served with a side plate of yellow rice and black beans. Since I hadn't eaten all day and worked a convention that found me walking around and around I was ravenous and cleaned my plate. I was even tempted to sample a taco or two but my friend was not feeling all that well and needed to end her time out. Needless to say I will be looking to return here if I am in the area. This place is great and I am excited to go back one day. I ordered a bunch of tacos but I'd def recommend the tongue, that was fire. I particularly enjoyed their hot sauces too. I also ordered the Chilequiles with chicken, a dish I never had before. They were amazing and came in a large portion. Feels like everything they do here is probably bomb, check these guys out! The most promising Mexican food I've had in NY, but the flavors all tasted unbalanced. Dishes in order of preference: 1. Kid's meal quesadillas: the cheese was yummy and the tortillas fresh and delicious 2. Horchata:great deal at $2.50 for a large, but also tasted a tad watery 3. Taco del pescado: the fish was crispy and the sauce was wonderful. The tomatoes tasted like, well, nothing. I'd rather have no tomatoes than flavorless chunks. 4. Carne asada burrito: the beef was in an overly salty gravy. Almost tasted like beef stew from a can. 5. Huevos con jamon: this whole dish was way too salty. 6. Taco de lengua: the lengua was dry and tough without much flavor at all. The most redeeming part was the heaping mound of guacamole they serve it with. Nice presentation with the grilled spring onions too. Would've loved some radishes and peppers but you know maybe that's a California thing. 7. Taco de carnitas: my friend warned me that the pork here wasn't that good. I took a risk and ordered carnitas anyways. It had no evidence of searing or roasting. No juiciness. Tasted bland, as if they just boiled some pork in water and then threw it on a taco. The partner and kids walked away really happy, but I left pretty disappointed. I came here for the second time for a plate of chilaquiles and they did not disappoint! They were spicy and stacked with all the goodies just like the very first time I had them. I also ordered the 2 of the small tacos, but their chilaquiles are quite better in flavor since the tacos could have used just a little bit more seasoning. We first walked by their food truck that had a long line and a crowd of people eating on the streets. I wanted to try it but the line was too long so decided to save it for next time. However, as I walked away and checked up on the food truck on yelp, I found out that they have a restaurant location near by as well. I convinced my boyfriend to stop by and check it out. The restaurant was crowded but they have a huge space so we got stead right away. The service was prompt and caring. We first got complimentary chips and excellent salsa. We shared two tacos (el pastor, sheep head, and lengua), mole with chicken enchilada, and chorizo plate. They dinner plates both came with huge portions of rice and beans and side tortilla. I was so stuffed and happy by the end of the meal, all I wanted to do was fall asleep right there. Haha. The tacos were especially good. I would highly recommend getting them over the dinner plates. DROOOOLLL. tacos el bronco shoves authenticity (ok what do i know about authenticity ive never been to mexico, but it's really good here) in your mouth and makes you wonder why you would ever venture out into the city for tacos that are marked up for 2x more. delicious tacos that come with your favorite toppings such as guac, sour cream, and tomatoes WITH NO EXTRA CHARGE - which i really appreciate. whether you're a corn tortilla or a tostada person, their proteins come in the same shape and form on whichever carb base you choose. i personally like the tostada more become it comes with beans and anything fried is a +5 in my flavor book. they serve you complimentary chips with a spicy salsa as well. the al pastor is juicy and well flavored so that's my go to taco/tostada and i think it should be yours too ;). horchata is not overly sweet and unless you're dying of thirst, a small is plenty enough. sometimes it's hard to find a nice horchata that's not too sweet or cinnamon-y and i think tacos el bronco got that down. can't wait to come back to dine without worrying about ever breaking the bank. read more

I randomly found myself in Sunset Park for a concert and was excited to try out this well rated Mexican restaurant. I'm really glad I did because the place was great. The salsa they serve prior to your meal is amazing. It's so fresh and nicely spiced that we devoured it all in less than 5 minutes. We ordered the tacos, which are super cheap (I think around $2) and loaded up with all the foods including guacamole. We tried out an al pastor, steak, vegetarian and chorizo. The steak one really stood out to me. My boyfriend really liked his chorizo taco. The waiters are all very nice and you can't beat the majestic pastoral mural on the walls. I'm never disappointed when eating here. It is my absolute favorite local Mexican restaurant. I definitely feel that this is as close to authentic mexican food as possible. The flavor profiles here can be compared flavor wise to my very mexican grandmother's and that says a lot . My family and I are big steak taco fans, nacho tejano's, any tostadas; cant forget the posole, any of the tortas they have will for sure have you unbuttoning your pants and any fajita dish!! The ladies ordered Smoothies which they enjoyed. The ladies also ordered 5 shrimp tacos which they really enjoyed and had leftovers. I had the shrimp, chicken, and beef over salad which was delicious. We also enjoyed a nice big order of crinkle cut fries which were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Stopped in for dinner after finding on Yelp. The restaurant has comfortable seating. Upon arrival, there weren't too many people dining. Our hostess was pleasant and welcoming. We decided on the Chicken and beef chalupas for a starter and for the main decided to split the 'Molcajete'. This dish was sooooo good! It was stacked with Beef, Chicken, Shrimp, Shallots and Steak on a bed of Tomatillo sauce. The dish was complimented with Yellow Rice and Refried Beans. This dish is ample for sharing and filling to say the least. The wait was a bit long, but the wait is well worth it! I would def. venture out to the area to indulge in this platter again. Any place where I can walk in with only $20, fill myself with enough tacos to where breathing becomes difficult, and then walk out with change, is fully deserving of 4 stars, as far as I'm concerned. No fancy tacos here people ... thankfully. Tacos El Bronco is about as traditional as it gets, which considering we're in Brooklyn, is a rare, and pleasant surprise. And when I say traditional, I mean actually traditional, unlike some places who call themselves "authentic" because their chef, who was born in some desolate part of the mid-west, took a two week trip to Mexico, and learned how to pronounce, Oaxaca. Real tacos here, and at $2.75, fully loaded, you really can't beat that. Even forgetting the good price, and the authentic charm, the tacos themselves, are very good. I don't think they're going to blow anyone away, so if you're looking for an epiphany, or something along those lines, go score some peyote down the block. But if you're looking for some solid, authentic tacos, El Bronco, won't disappoint. I usually go with the lengua, carnitas, and chorizo. The lengua, and chorizo, are particularly good, and better than some of the other more notable taco places. Jackson Heights is my usual go-to for great authentic tacos but this restaurant proves that Sunset Park also knows how to make awesome tacos! I tried 4 different types including the fish taco with each one being saucier and messier than the last (a good sign). They come with complimentary grilled onion bulbs which you can add to your tacos or eat by itself. Free nacho and salsa also came with the meal. BTW, their horchata completes everything, must try especially to tame the heat from the salsa and hot sauces after you are done eating. I would suggest ordering in advance because it takes time for them to make the tacos. I ordered one fish taco, one tender beef, one spicy pork, one steak, and one chicken. My boyfriend enjoyed the spicy pork more than the tender beef. The fish taco had a bit excess batter but overall it tasted good. Steak and chicken were good as well. I really like the decor and ambience here. Very authentic. They have a much bigger space once you get inside. The staff is super attentive. I really enjoyed them. As for the food I thought it was ok. Some of it was really nice, some of it was ok. I'll start with the tacos. The steak taco was very dry and did not have flavor. I needed to add a lot of the salsa into the taco, from the chip basket, to improve the taste and texture. Having said that the roasted pork taco was amazing!!!! The pork was tender, flavorful and sweet. What a great taco. The combo with the "regular" toppings was great. I had the chicken fajitas for my entree. It was ok. The chicken was tender and cooked nicely. However with all the peppers, onions and sides, it was a little bland. It wasn't as savory or tasty as I thought it was going to be. Can't order from here and not get a large agua de horchata. The restaurant delivers late night, up to 1am Sun-Thurs and 5am Fri and Sat. I've had pretty much everything from here and am never disappointed. I ordered the al pastor cemita and my friend ordered the chicken fajitas. We also started with a few tacos (steak and pork). First off, The steak taco was very dry and we needed to add salsa to moisten it up. My friend said the pork taco was very good. For our main meals we had 2 contrasting experiences. I thought the cemita was delicious and all the flavors worked well. The true test of a cemita is the bread and it was spot on. The al pastor had a nice touch of heat and was packed with flavor. My friend said the fajita was bland. He also said they could have done more with the vegetables since they were just lightly sauteed with no seasoning. This is my favorite place to get some tacos. My favorite is, hands down, the fish tacos. I have also tried Guava smoothie with milk and the other tacos as well. Everything was very tasty for a good price!! The salsa for the complimentary chips are also BOMB. (TIP: they charge you extra if you ask for refills on the chips though). I have been here about 8 times and every experience is the same, amazing !! Service is great, except waitresses are limited in English. But, that further confirms how legit the tacos are. Simply wow! Tacos El Bronco has certain met my expectations of getting a five star! I was a bit hesitant seeing how the store front and interior is not what I expected. But you know what they say? This place is just so much nicer than I expected. I assumed I was walking into a dirty little counter taco shop with the types of meat scrawled on a board above the kitchen. Well, I haven't been this wrong since I thought people cared what I thought. This is a clean, well-appointed RESTAURANT with table service, actual menus, and a very nice staff. Honestly, I didn't care which type of joint it turned out to be, because nothing else matters besides these gorgeous, gorgeous tacos. Al pastor is my jam, and El Bronco knows what they're doing. These things are action-packed with pork, pineapple, and FLAVOR. (The lengua is also juicy and meltingly tender, but I prefer my al pastor.) They come out tantalizingly wrapped in warm corn tortillas (fresh makes ALL the difference here), with paper-thin slices of radish, lime and grilled spring onion on the side. On their own, the tacos are excellent. With the punch of red and/or green salsa, they are sublime. And at $2.50 for the regular, they are an excellent value; three will make a fatty (me) happy, and two will satiate most normal human beings (her).
