We had Tacos el Gabacho cater my daughter's first birthday party. Best decision I made. Devan and his wife and stepson are amazing. They came up ahead of time to check out the location and were easy to get a hold of. I initially picked them as they have a Grade A health department rating. The day of the party, everything went flawlessly. They showed up on time and were ready to go. All of my guests raved about the food. I hired Devan to cater our company's birthday party celebration. I was looking for a taco cart/truck at the last minute, so I was worried that I wouldn't find anyone in time. I hired Tacos El Gabacho/Devan for a bridal shower I was hosting at my house. When I first called for a quote, he was extremely friendly and offered a very fair price, even for my smaller party size. I was so relieved that he was willing to do my party of 20 since many are unwilling. Once we had our date & price set, we arranged a meeting so he could review the site (my house) and go over the layout and what would be provided on the day of my party, and I also paid my deposit. Communication was easy and he kept in touch throughout the planning process. The day of my party went absolutely flawless. Devan and his wife arrived early to prepare the food so it would be ready when it was time to eat. It was such a hot day that day and we had to make some last minute changes to the layout and that went easily. The food was all SO GOOD. The meats were seasoned perfectly and tasted GREAT! All my guests were super happy and well fed. We had plenty of food and we were able to keep all the left overs, which my husband loved since he wasn't at the shower. Devan's set up is really professional, clean and totally self contained. Their set up & break down/clean up after we ate was so quick and easy, it didn't disturb the party at all. And when they were gone, you would have never known they were there. They left nothing behind- cleaned up great! I highly recommend Tacos El Gabacho! Had a great experience with Devan/Tacos El Gabacho for my birthday party in Palm Springs. They arrived a 3+ hours earlier to plan and execute the set-up. There was plenty of food left over and their beans and rice were all vegan and delicious. We had 3 types of tacos - carne asada, chicken and fish tacos - and they were all a hit and so was their homemade salsa! Note: The fish taco is battered and fried - not grilled - but all three tacos were great nonetheless! Extremely reasonable pricing and they're a very sweet couple to boot. The only thing I should mention is that their homemade guacamole was more sauce-like since you squeeze it from a bottle. I personally like the chunky kind of guacamole. However, this was not a big deal at all and we still enjoyed theirs... My sister, coincidentally, also made her own "chunky guacamole" so we were set anyway. :) read more

We just attended a graduation party at a neighbor's house and they hired Tacos El Gabacho to cater it. These tacos are the bomb! So flavorful and fresh and the servers were very friendly and happy to talk about the process they go through to prepare everything. We had the carne asada and chicken tacos on the menu and it was so tasty. I just wish I could have tried the fish or carnitas which I'm sure would be just as good. They were extremely responsive to my request, came and checked out my house before the party, and went through all the arrangements/food ordering with me. We just had a big SDSU Graduation party at our home. Tacos El Gabacho handled the food. We met with Devan a couple weeks before the party. He covered every detail and set the menu with a few options, (don't forget the bacon wrapped hot dogs). He brought his permits and Grade A Health Dept. Certification. We discussed all details of power and water access. As prearranged, they arrived and began preparation while we were attending the SDSU Graduation ceremony. The food was great. Handmade rice & beans, salsas and guacamole topped it off. the homemade tortillas are awesome, and all 3 meats (chicken, beef & pork) were very moist and flavorful. They served continuously for over 2 hours. We were able to just enjoy our friends, family and guests at the party with no worries about the food. The best part was that we got to keep the leftovers. 8/29/15 & 09/26/15 Dates of Service My husband decided he wanted a taquero last minute for a fantasy football draft but he didn't want to shell out $450 (going rate for most places) & most taqueros won't come out for crowds smaller than 50. Came across Tacos El Gabacho on Craigslist & even though the ad seemed too good to be true I called & spoke to Janniene - they speak English & Español & after getting the details of our event she called me back with an unbelievably affordable quote: $200 included 3 meats (pollo asado, carne asada & adobada/al pastor) & TJ style (bacon wrapped) hot dogs with all the trimmings for 20 people. Devan & Maria came out midweek to check out the backyard & figure out how to setup their one-of-a-kind Charger themed cart. They showed me their business license & their health inspection docs (I didn't even have to ask, Devan came prepared with them & showed them to us upfront). We reviewed all the details one more time & I put down a 50% deposit (with a receipt) & the rest was to come at the end of the event. Honestly I was a little nervous with Devan being white (lets keep it real here my tacos usually come from a Mexican, and I am Mexican so my expectations are also high) but his wife Maria is very sweet & Devan is also very kind & accommodating so I took a shot. On the day of the event they showed up a couple hours early to make sure everything was setup properly & they started cooking as soon as our guests arrived. Our guests ate & ate & ate & there were STILL leftovers! Remember this is a Fantasy Football draft with @ least 10 dudes who can EAT. Everyone loved the food & I was able to kick back & draft with everyone instead of running around hosting & cooking - or I would have spent more money @ Costco on pre-made food. At the end of the two hours, they packed up the leftovers for us & we ended up sharing those with 10 more people at another draft the next day! My husband was so happy with their service that he re-booked them on the spot for his bday a month later. For his bday we asked for the same setup but when they came over midweek to review the details they brought Armando who helps Devan prep the food. My husband then asked if they could add fish tacos & they said YES! Even though they did not plan to start serving fish tacos yet they said they would work on it for a couple days & make it happen. They only charged us an extra $20 for the fish! This was a family function so we had tios & tias coming from TJ & LA to eat - again everyone ate & ate & there was still so many leftovers! The fish flew though - the fish tacos definitely stole the show this time. Armando was frying the fish on the spot, super hot & fresh. Everything went smoothly & again I was able to eat with our family & not stress about hosting. I'd also like to add that BOTH times they were really cool about my puppy being in their way. Overall I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for a taquero - we've already booked them for my birthday as well! They are awesome, call them today! read more

This place is absolute best. As a member of my local elementary school PTA we were looking for a very special way to treat and our amazing teachers and staff, and this place deceivers. They were able to pull their grilling station right up to school and make fresh, from scratch, delicious street tacos. They come fully prepare with all required supplies. Tortilla were pressed and fried minutes before eating. The staff was able to quickly move move through line and their was more enough food. This year was the 3rd time we call upon this vendor and we will be continuing to do so.
