I had my second Employee Appreciation event with Tacos El Gabacho yesterday (4/25/2018) and it was absolutely FABULOUS!! My first event with Devan and his team was just as successful last year! And once again the food was tasty and plentiful. Our Taco Crew this year was the AMAZING Oscar and Ms. Ruth! They arrived ahead of schedule, had everything set up and cooking before our start time. Our Taco Crew had many of my co-workers scrambling to the courtyard of our building following the delicious aroma of adobado, carne asada and pollo asada! My employees were very happy with the great service delivered by the Taco Crew (Oscar & Ms. Ruth) and especially the succulent and savory tacos! The tortillas were FRESH and made at our event. My lovely assistant kept eating the tortillas because they were hot off the grill and mouthwatering! They also came with all the "fixin's" such as vegetarian beans & rice, salsa, guacamole, carrots/radishes. This is a great catering choice! You can't go wrong with Tacos El Gabacho! Devan and Maria are amazing!!! they called to confirm a few days before, had no problem with me adding people. they bring plates, utensils, napkins, all of the sides (salsas, guac, peppers, rice, beans). They came a couple hours before to have everything ready right on time (which it was!) and the food was INCREDIBLE. Great food! We couldn't have been more happy with the food, presentation, or service of the girls who showed up. They were great in setting up a menu for us. Initially they had beef, pork, and chicken on the menu but changed the menu when we told them we didn't want pork. Food was seasoned and had flavor. I would say the only reason whey I didn't give them 5 stars was that they were late. They said they would be here two hours before serving (an hour before our guest would be arriving). They arrived 45 minutes late which means they were setting up while our guests were arriving. Also, there was a period of 30 minutes after their they were supposed to arrive where no one answered my phone calls, texts, or emails. I'm sure you can imagine how much stress this placed on me thinking that they were not going to show up. In the end it all worked out and everyone enjoyed the food. I scheduled Tacos El Gabacho for a large group of customers, and it went absolutely perfect! Reaching out to Rene on very short notice I was able to take care of everything I needed to do in one day, almost all by email. I was able to get a quote turned around in a couple of hours, schedule the event, receive an invoice, send payment (via Venmo), and confirm all details for the day of. The lunch had been planned from 11:30-1:30, they arrived early and ready to setup at 9:30am. By 11:15 they were completely prepared to serve. Their customer service throughout the day was incredible, and they treated all guests with a smile and respect. All of the feedback I received was positive for both the food and the service, and I was asked to forward their contact information by a number of people. I chose to stick with the 3 meat selections of carne asada, chicken adobada, and pork served on hand pressed, freshly made tortillas. The beans and rice were well seasoned, and all of the sides and toppings were fresh as well. I added on Horchata and Jamaica which went over very well. I was impressed with the station setup and how well the line moved with setup. The large group was grabbing seconds and thirds in no time at all. I planned for 35 people to accommodate 30 people, and they ended up feeding about 15-20 unplanned others. I would say they definitely had more than enough to cover the bonus guests. I would only make one critical comment that is not worth knocking off a star for, but I would have liked to have them handle adding bottled water or sodas as another drink option. The convenience of not having to make a personal stop would be well worth the added cost. Also a dessert option would be great as well. Overall, I was EXTREMELY impressed by the service, food, and results of the day. I had Tacos El Gabacho serve my 21st birthday yesterday and it was honestly one of the best decisions I've ever made! We did the carne asada, adobada, carnitas and red snapper (do the extra for the red snapper, I promise it is so worth it!), all of which were absolutely delicious. A particular favorite of mine was the sauces (crema, tomatillo, red, etc.). This is a fantastic taco cart! Hiring them and getting it all set up was a breeze, Devon was super responsive, super efficient, and super nice. Oscar and Miss Ruth came out to our party. The response from the party and beyond; all our guests were very impressed with the amazing taste, quality and presentation of the food. Literally the best tacos I have had, I think ever, due to the piste de resistance, the corn tortillas made from scratch cooked right before you. So fresh, so tasty and I can't speak their praises enough because the food was that good! I booked Tacos El Gabacho for my boyfriend's birthday party, and it was more than perfect! I sent a Yelp message inquiring about the prices for a group of 25-30 people, and I received a response quickly, letting me know exactly what I needed to know - $12 a person + tip + extra for fish. Devan was really good at contacting me and answering my questions. The day of the party came around and Devan was right on time, and they went right to setting up. They provided plates, napkins, utensils, guacamole, salsa (green + red), jalapenos, radishes, rice and beans. These items were laid out on a separate table where we were able to customize our own tacos to our liking. They made the tacos to order and set up right in front of our hotel room. I had very hungry guests, but even after everyone had their fill of the delicious tacos, there were still leftovers! I didn't bring anything to store the leftover food in, so we used some plates to try and save the food, but I would suggest bringing some containers. One of our guests had 13+ tacos, and we still had leftovers - so definitely bring containers! I suggest paying a little bit extra for the fish tacos. They were battered red snapper - so delicious. I wish I was able to eat more than I did! I would not hesitate to book Tacos El Gabacho again and I definitely recommend them for any event. read more

This is the third year we've used Tacos El Gabacho for our summer party at the Carlsbad Lagoon. Alex and Ruth bent over backwards to make sure we had a great time. They were head down, hard workers and kept me posted throughout their prep time. They made homemade tortillas and had more than enough garnishments to keep our crew happy. This was the 3rd straight year I've had Devan's company,Tacos El Gabacho, cater my daughter's birthday. I know we'll be doing it again this year in December, so I can't wait. The party we had was a few months ago in December 2018, and we had Oscar as our server and he was great. He was very professional and had everything set up on time with no problems. Any questions or requests that we had, he was always helpful and showed excellent customer service the entire night. The food was delicious as always, we had chicken, carne asada, and pork. It came with the rice, beans, and a few types of salsa. I love that you get to keep all the leftovers, so it makes for a great December because we get to have great Mexican food a few days after the party. The rice is always one of my favorites, they make some of the best rice. The meat is very tasty and just like every year, everyone loved all the food. The tortillas are freshly made at the party, so that makes everything that much better. The prices are still better than other taco carts, it's very affordable and you get great customer service and great food. My daughter and I have actually been to a party where one of the other san diego taco carts were catering, and we both agreed that it wasn't as good. At one point we had looked into that company for our party, but I'm really glad we didn't. We had such a great experience with Tacos El Gabacho. We had them cater a 50th anniversary party. We held the event in a city of La Mesa community building where only approved vendors can serve food. It took a great deal of effort on their part to get everything in order to become "approved", but they came through! The food was great! Everyone commented on how good it was. Vegan beans, handmade corn tortillas, all the fixings (even accommodated my special request of no cilantro in the guacamole), we had chicken and carne because that's what the couple wanted but the fish tacos sound amazing! Devan and I spoke on the phone, since I'm not from the area, and discussed the options for catering at my wedding. We met Devan and his family at an event they were catering for. Devan had cleared it with his clients before inviting us to try, and they were very welcoming and gracious for allowing us to do so. Their tacos are DELICIOUS. Everything a taco cart taco should be, right down to the fixins. Prior to the event, Devan visited our venue to ensure that he would be able to set up with all the necessary equipment needs. He was adamant about coming early to set up just so they can be ready to serve by our start time. At our wedding, the tacos were just a cocktail hour food.. an appetizer, really.. before the actual dinner. But people RAVED about them and ate so much of it, I'm not sure how they had room to eat the main meal! Devan and Maria were awesome, and they even put the leftover food in containers before they left. They served a little over 200 people for over 3 hours, and that's not even including the time they came to set up! Tacos El Gabacho is reliable, delicious and family run.
