It was Taco Tuesday and we asked our daughter where should we go since she lives here and we were visiting. She recommended this place. Unfortunately after looking at their menu, no one wanted tacos anymore, lol. This place is an order at the counter and they will call you when your order is up. We got some Burritos, a quesadilla, nachos and a medium size serving of rice and beans. Portion size were good. Everything was delicious except the chicken Quesadilla was made on a medium size flour tortilla that was folded and cooked but not cut. It looked like a folded taco when served on the plate. We ordered this for a 2 year old so we had to ask for a knife to cut it. All utensils are located behind the counter, so you have to ask. I also personally wished they would have used a combination of shredded cheddar cheese and nacho sauce for their nachos instead of all liquid nacho sauce. The chips are round corn chips which I wish it was the authentic Mexican chips. There was plenty of shredded beef on it. Those were the only things I noted. Man oh man! This place is amazing! I've drove passed this place so many times but never stopped and then I saw reviews on yelp and I'm so glad I gave them a try. I got a quesabirria taco with consome and an asada street taco since these are the two items I am extremely picky about! The quesa taco was a tad smaller than the ones I've had before but they were the tastiest ones I've ever had and I am from Southern California!! The asada was the best that I've tried since being in Spokane and the salsas were delicious. The hot salsa is not actually a salsa so beware, it is a chili and it's very spicy but authentically delicious. There was plenty of cheese in the quesa taco and the shell wasn't soggy. I spent $10 for the 2 tacos and side of consome. I wish they offered a 4oz side of consome for like $1.50 instead of the big 8oz for $3 because that's way too much for just 1 or 2 tacos and is a waste in my opinion but you definitely need that consome to bring the flavors together. Ate here for the first time, fantastic food, they are close to my house, so I am kicking myself that tonight was the first time. I ordered the asada nachos, and they were so good, and large portion and the price was good also. I didn't realize they have a drive thru, so that makes it much easier to stop by. Im repulsed by this place and never going here again. I got half way through my burrito and found a long black hair in my food!! I felt sick shortly after eating this! This place was not worth the money and there were flies everywhere! Not to mention the service was shit. Having heard a lot of praises from her colleagues missus thought of getting me a chicken burrito the other day and a soft taco for herself .. so that I don't miss on the good things. I also had heard superlatives for Tacos el Sol on social media .. cheerfully sat for an early dinner. :) There was a pulled chicken burrito for me .. a meatless taco for her .. she is a lacto-vegetarian so no meat. ummm.. meatless was just cheese and lettuce, that is it .. put some beans or pico or something guys. Vegetarian people have to accompany people like us sometimes and it would totally work in our favour by giving them food so worthy so that they gladly accept to accompany us the next time and the next and the next. Else, "I" would not be able to make a trip that often. About my food .. well, it was just one burrito but judging from that it was surprisingly lifeless .. (no no the chicken has to be dead I know :P) lifeless as in spices .. it was bland at its best. The chicken needed some seasoning at least. And the burrito some hot sauce and salsa .. the guac was bland too .. Doubt how could it be so bland. Anyway. She did praise about their service and the nice crew but then the food didn't cut it for me .. Surprisingly the photos on facebook are so nice that it is tough to believe how bland my food was .. but then almost all the photos are with either pork or beef. Maybe, chicken is bland. Cutting the long story short .. they still call for one more shot whenever I am in downtown at lunch hours next .. but for now they have to live with 3 stars. read more

I am a regular for the Shredded Pork-Macho Burrito. I order with extra pork and it's an amazing meal and sometimes I roll it over to meal #2 as leftovers. But it's delicious. The people are always nice, responsive, timely and the meal is always very well done. The only negative is it's not open 7 days a week but everyone needs a day off. Highly recommend. Worst customer service ever. Had to wait at the front counter for 5 minutes before someone acknowledged my existence. Ordered 3 beef taco combo to go. Walked out without my food after waiting for over 30 minutes. Place is filthy. Customer service is crap. Will not ever step foot in there again. Lesson cost me over $12.00. It was my first time experiencing a taco truck and Tacos El Sol is my lucky first. We were on a road trip and the first stop was Spokane. After aimlessly walking around town trying to locate the demolished historical Chinatown, we wanted some tacos. It was sound stomach logic. We ordered the various tacos on the menu and I got the one with chorizo while my friend had the more exotic beef tongue. The tacos looked pretty delicate and made to be a large bite size. Maybe it was the chorizo but my taco was super salty but a great combination of flavors for a bite. My friends all love their tacos and it was a fun street food experience. Watching and betting your friends to see if they can eat it in one bite was an entertainment itself. For the ones with more bland tastebuds, staying away from the chorizo might be a good idea. read more

Less than 5 minutes from my house so I'm here almost weekly. Usually I call ahead and go to the drive through but even times I havent and went straight to the drive through Im not waiting longer than 10 minutes! Everything is very authentic tasting, my go to is the three carne asada taco combo less than $10 and I'm STUFFED. All their salsas are so good and combine well! As GIR would say, "I love the little tacos. I love them good." I still think they're slightly pricey for the amount of food you get, but: a) I'm kind of cheap, and b) compared to a lot of other street tacos I've seen, they're very reasonable. I ended up getting three of the... Alambre? Forget the name, but they had beef, caramelized onions, green peppers, and mozzarella. I also made sure to ask for salsa this time (didn't realize it wasn't already on there the first time I was here); went with a mix of the verde & guacamole, and those were an excellent addition to some already good tacos. Final verdict: I wouldn't make a special trip just to eat here, but if you're in the area, they are well worth checking out. read more

We love this place! The tinga is wonderful! I like to get chicken tinga in the chimichangas. The salsa bar has some killer sauces and the chips are homemade & yummy. Only criticism is that I wish they were more environmentally friendly. Using small plastic cups for the salsa bar & plastic cutlery without recycling options is an environmental disaster. Listen up Spookaloo's - this is the real deal for street tacos. The lengua was outstand as was the pollo, their condiments just perfect, including their homemade hot sauce -yummy yum yum. We all know that Spokane is Mexican food deficient (along with Chinese and Greek) so we transplants settle for places like Taco Tumbras or Deleon's (both pretty good for Spokane standards), but if you really want a bit of Mexico, a tantalizing of your taste buds that brings you back to strolling Tijuana as a young teenager (hey we all have our past) or trips to Rosarito or Cabo then this is the place for you. SIDEBAR: If you think Azteca, Rancho Chico, Caso De Oro, etc., is real Mexican food than please keep your mind open when you eat here. This is authentic and it may not be what you expect but trust me it's way better than the crap they serve at those places. read more

So, first of all - anything that has any variation of yellow cheese and Daisy sour cream on it isn't authentic. For some reason, lots of people seem to love that crap and unfortunately these places have to cater to these palates rather than maintaining their integrity to stay in business, also I'm sure it's way cheaper than queso fresco and crema fresca. So, if you're looking for something authentic here, grow a pair and order something you can't pronounce or something you've never tried before. Chances are you'll probably like it if it's made from a Mexican. (For example: if you haven't already tried it order lengua instead of asada, don't ask questions, just try it) And lastly, put your own dang salsa on it. The salsa verde with avocado they have there is awesome, don't worry, it's not really spicy, but a lot of the times you have to ask for it. Is Tacos el Sol the most authentic Mexican food I've had in Spokane? No Does it deliver on the flavor anyway? Sure Where is the most authentic food in Spokane? La Michoacana. Chances are you've never heard of it, and that's probably a good thing, because that means it's still been untainted by the demands of the "American palate" (i.e. yellow cheese and chimichangas). You will be the only non-Mexican immigrant person there but don't let it make you feel uncomfortable, consider it a good sign. I really, really like this place. First off I didn't like my nachos at all. The cheese sauce ruined it for me. I did not rate based on that. I would recommend just using shredded cheese and melting it in a steaming or something. What I did like was the staff and the salsa bar. That made it for me. After scrapping off that cheese sauce it was great with all the salsa options. I will be back again soon and I will be a bit wiser in my food choice and then update my review. read more
