A taco stand that sets up on a corner in Lincoln Heights and they serve up other items like burritos, mulitas, and tortas. At the time of my visit there were two guys who were very friendly and chill. I was in the area late at night (was on my way home from work past 11pm). Just got out of the gym and hadn't eaten dinner yet, so I was hungry and this place popped up on my search. So glad I found it. I ordered my usual (when I go to new taco spots) - at least one taco and a mulita. Got asada and pastor. The meats here were so flavorful. Oh, and I really love the salsa bar here. Great, fresh toppings and a great variety of tasty salsas. Definitely love that this place was open for the odd hours I was coming through and it really hit the spot. I got there a little before they were closing up, so it wasn't busy at all and parking was very easy to find. I hope to find my way out here again sometime soon. read more

We were looking for taco shops open late and found this place that was open until 1am. Tacos Lupita is located on a corner of a street with street parking and next to a very small plaza. Unfortunately they didn't have all the different kinds of meat since we were there so close to closing. We ordered the al pastor, lengua, and intestine tacos based on the worker's recommendations. My favorites in order were the lengua, intestine, and pastor. The first thing I noticed was that the tortillas they put on the grill were tiny, and this was confirmed when we ate the tacos and I'd finish them in two bites. The total was $18 for 7 tacos so that equated to about $2.50 per taco. This wouldn't be terrible if the tacos were bigger but they were basically $1 per bite which was not very worth the price to me. read more

Stayed in LA for the weekend at a BnB in Lincoln Heights. We were had walked past a King Taco and planned on going there the next night. I ended up searching for other taco shops and found Tacos Lupita which was also walking distance (and King Tacos reviews were muy mal). This place was just on the side of the road. The large cooking area had several types of meat going and there was zero wait. I ordered a carne asada taco and an adobada taco (I wish I would have ordered 3 more). My husband got 2 of his own. Tacos were $2/apiece, street taco style. They had a separate stand with salsas, limes, onion/cilantro mix and radishes. Everything is served to-go so we ate when we got home. The most unsuspecting taco and burrito stand! Stumbled onto this place late at night when I was trying to go to another taco stand that was closed. Wow I'm glad I found this. I just split the carne asada regular burrito with my bf since we were too lazy to eat multiple tacos haha. The regular burrito has rice, beans, meat of choice, and before they wrap your burrito, they let you fill your burrito with some toppings from their topping station. This place is literally a taco stand on the corner of Pasadena and N Ave 25. If you see J&J Donuts, you're in the right place. Yelp Business hours show this place opening at 5, however we got there around 5:15pm and was told it would be a few mins. By 5:30pm the stand was on and popping! The locals were lined up, so you know this place is legit. For 4 tacos and one large burrito , we spent $12. It can literally get no better than this place. Only regret is that we didn't get to try the tongue meat, as it was not yet ready. But the chicken, carne asada and the chorizo were fine enough. read more

So my friends told me about this place and to be honest they were good but I wouldn't drive a mile and a half for these when I think I have better tacos two blocks from my house. I was craving some good tacos and after going to ave 26 tacos and finding out that they didn't open that night I came across this spot. They had a line so I took it as a good sign and unfortunately that wasn't the case. Had some al pastor tacos and the meat wasn't flavorful or slightly crispy as an al pastor taco should be. The taco had only one very small tortilla so they kept falling apart, and the salsas were not spicy at all. Didn't try anything else so maybe the other stuff might be better. And -- don't judge -- I have gotten tacos from both stands in one night. My favorite things about this stand: - they have horchata (and soda) - they have a great variety of salsa, condiments, and toppings - many different meats - everything looks very clean and it's pretty organized! - very friendly workers - al pastor with pineapple (yes, pineapple! Why do I live around the corner from this place?! This is a dangerous set up. My roommate and I went to both this stand and the stand on Ave 26 to see which one we liked more. The verdict: each has its pros and cons. But for both stands, they each have overwhelming pros. Here, the tacos are $1.25! More expensive than the Ave 26 stand, but it's location is very accessible from the street. At Lupita, I really enjoy the Al Pastor tacos a lot more than those at the Ave 26 location. The habanero sauce is also a great embellishment on the tacos. You can also get a horchata for $1! Definitely a reasonable deal. The wait hasn't been too bad for me. I tried this place a few months ago. By chance I ran into this taco stand, while looking for another place. I tried the tacos al pastor, carne asada and lengua. They were incredibly delicious! The salsa game was on point! I loved their little salsa bar. They are very generous in letting you help yourself to it all. They also have cebolla caramelizada and they are just the cherry on top! Finally, this stand has a yelp page! My bf & I have been coming here for a year or so and they recently named their stand a few months ago to Tacos Lupita. I would usually come here right after Ave. 26 since my bf likes the tacos here rather than Ave. 26.... In my honest opinion, their tacos are good but I still enjoy Ave. 26 more...& their tacos were $1 before but it's $1.25 now. Regardless, still worth. I loveee how their menu isn't just limited to tacos. I usually get the pastor molitas (kind of like a mini quesadilla...they also have regular quesadillas too) and build my own burrito. Also...don't forget the pineapples! I also love their "sauce" bar options; they have pico de gallo! Service is also great here. The usual guy who takes our orders is the best! He's super friendly, always has a smile on, and are always happy to see his regulars. Parking gets a little tricky depending on certain times... but they have their own small lot and street parking. I usually never buy street food but was pleasantly surprised as how good everything here is. The Tacos are amazing the burritos are impressive too. Best part and is what makes this Tacos so good is the toppings. They have huge variety that you don't know what to get. I'll recommend the cucumber sauce and the avocado sauce. Just be carefully if you don't like spicy food much. The cucumber sauce is a bit spicy. I tried the Tacos stand on Humboldt St and won't even come close to Tacos Lupita. They are located on Pasadena Ave in Lincoln Heights across from Smart&Final and Yoshinoya. The orchatas are great the other Taco stand on Humboldt st only have sodas. read more

I came here today, Christmas Day (12/25/16), around 6PM and there wasn't much of a line, which was good because I wasn't really looking forward to waiting in line for some food. Originally, I headed out to Chinatown hoping to get some cheap grub before the Keung Kee BBQ closed for the night but I arrived too late. They were closed by the time I got there. No problem, right? Because there was this CBS Seafood and ABC Seafood who also did cheap takeout as well, albeit, slightly more expensive than Keung Kee. Only issue? No parking. And I mean, up and down every block of Chinatown: College, Alpine, Ord, Spring, you name it, every single metered parking spot was filled with cars. Every paid parking were filled to max capacity, which was surprising, because I've never seen that happen before even on a typical holiday. Times are changing, I guess. Anywho, in utter frustration, I ended heading back to the hood, Lincoln Heights, to grab some grub instead as a last resort. Stopped by Carnitas Michoacan and there was a line. Nope. Sorry. Not waiting in line for that. Then I remembered that there was this taco stand right in front of the donut shop and across the street from a liquor store and Yoshinoya and just decided, on a whim, to give it a try. This taco stand has been at this particular spot for the better part of a year or so now. Hell, they may have been there longer but before that point, I think they used to be on the corner right across the street from the Lincoln Heights Branch Library before they decided to move to the donut shop corner. I asked the cook how much for a burrito and he said. $6. Then I asked him how much for a taco. And he said $1.75. Wow. $1.75 tacos. They better be some bomb ass tacos to be charging at those prices. Maya's and Carnitas Michoacan don't even charge those prices but hey, it's Christmas Day, so maybe they just want to make a bit more since most other places were closed. Who knows, right? I'll give them that. So between a $6 burrito and $1.75 taco, it was a no-brainer. Two burritos, it was! I chose carnitas as my base comparison to the other taco joints in the area. They do not disappoint. The cook made me two gigantic burritos with lots of meat, rice and beans. (They ask you if you want rice and beans but you don't have to have it in your burrito). And you get to select your own sides to add into your burrito: cilantro/onions, onions pickled in spicy sauce, sliced beets, and mixed tomato/onion/cilantro salsa. They also had cucumbers and lime too but I didn't get those. Of course, you can get them on the side as well but I chose to have them included in the burrito instead. It's cash only but fret not, my dear Yelpers, because there's an ATM machine at the donut shop and liquor store. Take your pick. Parking is a bit more tricky but there's street parking and metered parking. Since today was a holiday, metered parking was free so there's that. Service was fast and friendly. They speak English. Otherwise, not much else to say here. Taste-wise, I'd say that this place makes burritos quite comparable to Maya's, Naranja's, Carnitas Michoacan, King Taco, and other smaller mom and pop shops in the area. With prices rising at my favorite joints, Maya's and Carnitas, this place fits the bill just fine, if I'm looking for tacos and burritos. I'm very curious to know if they serve anything else besides these two. I think one Yelper mentioned that they make quesadillas too so there's that. Just wished that they had a mini menu somewhere so I'd know what i can get instead of guessing or asking the cooks, ya know? All in all, I liked that they made the burritos big and they didn't skimp on the meat either. They just piled it up on my burrito. I'd say that you should give this place a try. It's not a Ave 26 & Humboldt taco stand but it's a closer alternative, if you don't want to drive further (or walk further). read more

BEST tacos in Lincoln Heights. Nothing compared to the other competitors. I have tried the other tacos around and they lack the flavor and customer service. I've been going there for years when they were at the Rite Aid location and they've always delivered taste/flavor. They cover the tortilla with as muy have meat for $1.25. The variety of salsas are great also. Much worth every penny! My kids always request to go there. All their meats are delicious, much worth it. It's Martin Luther King Jr. Day and I'm in the area since my mom wanted to get her hair done at the nearby Diamond Cut (we used to live in the nearby apartments here in Lincoln Heights, so this was our family's go-to spot) and I see these guys prepping up outside the parking lot. The last time I was here, I deeply regretted not getting anything, so I made sure to stop by this time around.
