Not all tacos Mexicos are created equal and this one is my favorite. This, over the years, has been a reliable drunken late night stop ~ it's cheap, easy, and has spaces and counters to enjoy your food. However, this has been my dining destination of choice as of recent because it's located right next to the Ace/United Theater. Doors typically open around 7:00PM which in theory should give you plenty of to dine before, but it doesn't because...work etc. I hate the idea of going out to dinner after the show because I don't want to be out so late on a school night, so Tacos Mexico has been coming in clutch. I personally love the carne asada burritos here - they're filled with carne asada, rice, beans and are consistently good. Anything carne asada is good actually - tacos + quesadillas. My son and I were dtla to stop at his work and before that we went to Tacos Mexico Broadway stand open 24/7,,, my son working dtla for years had never eaten there,,, so we drive up park and order, getting a carne asada burrito each and 2 asada tacos plus 2 large horchata drinks. I went with a friend to tacos Mexico walking after a concert at the Belasco theater. Only a short couple blocks away. Anyway, I haven't eaten there since the late 80's. It has a low Yelp ratings. I don't know why. Service was quick and speedy. Like we were just about to sit down, not even 25' away, when we were called 'cause our food was ready. Tacos and torta were filled with an abundance of meat. Not like a trendy place and were a lot cheaper for that matter. Ambiance, it's a taco spot, what do you expect. REAL STREET TACOS. I've only tried the carne asada tacos here and I like the flavor of the meat it's also not to fatty. The red and green salsas are pretty good also. Tacos Mexico is a nice late night spot if you're walking by. They're open late, have tables, and the fastest service around. We had our food within two minutes and we weren't the only ones there. The torta was actually pretty good and refreshing. Asada was ok overall, nothing spectacular but for late night eats it was perfect. The vibe is dirty downtown la. There is a reason this hole in the wall always has people lined up outside. The rice and beans are so authentic and my husband thoroughly enjoyed his quesadillas. He said the meat was very well seasoned and tasted delicious. And you can't beat the price. If I could give zero stars I would. I stopped by today, got myself some tacos and burritos, and let me tell you, the Al pastor meat was inedible. The meat was already decomposed, and was able to tell by the foul smell and horrible taste, I couldn't even eat all of them, it quickly made my stomach churn. Please make sure you check your meats prior to serving them, this is what primarily causes food illnesses to customers, the lack of attention to what a restaurant is serving. I have so many bad things to say about this place . First off, they have a promotion for dollar tacos on Wednesday. I went 5 min before the deal ends and the guy refuses to give me the deal. Previous to that, I have had pork in my chicken tacos and I do not eat pork so It made me very sick. It is located on Broadway, Downtown LA next to the Ace Hotel, it can easily be mistaken for a small newspaper stand instead of a taco stand. This is the type of place to go for a cheap taco, enchilada, or my favorite a Carne Asada (Beef Steak) burrito. You come here after a night of debauchery, or after the a fun nigh at the Ace Theater for a quick bit. Not really a place to bring the family to for dinner, or for a kids birthday. This place only has a couple tables outside next to the street or a small hallway to stand. It is basic, no bells or whistles. It fills the need. If you want to understand Los Angeles Mexican street food in a single bite, you should probably skip Taco Bell or Chipotle and find your way to a Tacos Mexico. They have a lot of locations in California, Tuesday's is Taco Tuesday, keep that in mind for cheap tacos. It's open 24 hours, it's a great place to go after a show at the Ace, a late night of tasty libations at Clifton's or just randomly riding Metro Bikes in the area. My go-to food here is the Carne Asada (Beef Steak) burrito. When you chomp into it, the taste of the meat, seasons, onions, salt and a hint of spiciness, with a squeeze of lime is all I need for my late night munchies. read more

Simple order, flawlessly executed, and for very little dough. What's not to like? The place draws a crowd at 3:30 on a Thursday morning- It's mostly those just getting off work or coming out of bars. This place was surprisingly good. Looks very humble and slightly dirty but typical for LA. However, the Al Pastor tacos were delicious as well as the Asada tacos. We had Horchata to drink and a pineapple water, and they were both fantastic. The hot sauce had a perfect thing to it which really complement of the tacos well.
