I tried the asada , which was kinda spicy , Birria which had a weird taste and the carnitas which was the best one out of all 3 . I had the rice but it was extremely salty I couldn't even eat it so I just didn't say anything and still payed for it. Beans were meh . My girlfriend and I also decided to dine outside and after being there for just about an hour or less we both got so many mosquito bites , one even landed on my hand and was about to bite me before I killed it. I just saw someone else that also got multiple bites by the mosquitoes there as well. If your thinking about sitting outside I recommend you don't, you'll leave with multiple bites . The nachos are the equivalent of what you can make at a backyard birthday party with canned nacho cheese sauce and some meat from the taco man. No salsa; these nachos leave alot to be desired. Beer- asked for salt on the rim. Note to the girl at the bar.. table salt/iodized salt is not something you would use to rim a glass for which you will be pouring alcohol into. Also, you may want to start handing the beer out as you are serving it. Ignore this place like our servers ignored us. I have never left a restaurant during happy hour and made it home thinking man I need a drink. We always want to support local restaurants and had yet to try TacosWay since it had taken over from Salt & Ash. I hate doing it, but looks like I'll be the 6 or 7th ONE STAR review for TacosWay in the past WEEK! We came in for happy hour and it was dead. Fine by me, more time for better service...way wrong. We were allowed to find a seat on our own, but there that proved to be challenge. We were going to sit outside, but tables were sticky, drinks still sitting on tables. We went inside and same, things just weren't clean. I was writing it off to maybe a lunch rush ending, but then before we left my wife had gotten salsa on her purse and shirt from under the table. Just gross and looking this over not the only Yelper to note this recently. The table we found that was clean was right under the speaker and was so loud I couldn't even hear the waiter. We had to ask them to turn the music down. My wife had her heart seat on the chorizo. The waiter took our order and then the only time they came back to the table to check on anything was to tell us the were out. The hits just keep coming. She picked a NachosWay just to go with something, it had random bites of spice don't know what it was in there, but not great. During the whole meal never once did a server or anyone come to check on us. Our drinks emptied out, waters unfilled. We can see them chatting with each other at bar, but no one checking on their customers. I had to chase someone down to get my wife a water. After the food not a single visit to ask how the food was, which, the tacos were ok, maybe a 3 star. The guac is worth a skip. The chips are a cheap eat and nothing special. My wife left most of her nachos dish. I sat there waiting for our waiter to come back so we could get the bill and get out, I saw a review by another yelper not even an hour old that said "worst customer service of all time." He was spot on. Thus, we just got up went to the bar, got our check and our waiter was shocked that it wasn't good. We shared our experience, but not sure it will change anything. Finally, they need to rework their digital format on the menu you have to scan. The PDF is not mobile friend and a bit of mess in how its organized when you have to keep zooming in and out. Which was an extra pain not having a decent menu when you can't hear your waiter. Not really a positive thing to share in this review. We won't be back, one of the worst visits I have had in years. As far as Horcahatas go... this one is worth ordering. Ordered Tacos... GringaWay it's like a quesadilla taco with Al pastor filling. For 12 bucks you get 2..the description sounded great, but the tacos were tiny. They should be priced between 2-3 dollars each for what they are, but at 6 dollars each the expectation was high. Salsas were bland, taste it before an order goes out.. throw out the bland salsas and start over. Or taste and season before you fill the little cups and forget about them in the fridge. It was not busy, and I haven't worked in a restaurant in a while.... But they are in need of a clear chain of command and the could benefit from getting an expo. Bartender should just makes drinks that's it... expo sorts the orders and ensures the right servers get the right order, going to right table. The bartender was doing it all and it's hard to run a restaurant that way. I think all the pieces are there for the makings of something special it just needs to come together, focus on the food, and the service. Menu is huge maybe simplify it a bit. We got great service, and frankly if you're going for local food and expect it to be made with care then you should be willing to wait for it anyways. All that's to the good. However, the food is bland. I'm sorry to have to say so, because I try to support local business. The rice tastes like water. All the meat is plain, except the chicken which has a bit of char on it. The beans need salt, maybe a bay leaf. The tortillas were good, as were the chips, but the salsa tastes like plain tomato sauce. I could definitely agree that this restaurant has major potential because I really like the concept, the ideas, the options on the menu, the variety, and how the place actually looks, but need to work on some things. I ordered the food over the phone, was told 20mins, but then he changed it to 15mins. Took me about 10mins to drive there and had trouble finding the entrance because if you GPS through Yelp directions, it automatically directs you to the BACK of the restaurant, which is extremely deceiving because the BACK is directly on the MAIN STREET, so in order for you to get to the ENTRANCE, you must drive to the backside of the street. So if you get to the post office parking lot, you're on the wrong side. Arrived and had two parties in front of me, so I patiently waited in line. After another 15mins waiting, it was my turn, and both employees (who seemed really young) did not acknowledge me in any way, and the girl kept staring back at me a couple of times from across the room but still no acknowledgement, so I walked over and said I was here to pick up a phone order, but to be told that my order was still not ready. I simply stated that I wanted to pay ahead of time because I was short on time due to being on my lunch break (hence why I called in ahead) So basically waisted half of my lunch time waiting around, and they weren't even busy. There was maybe like 3 parties there? I've seen small mexican spots that can make an order for 7 people in like 10 mins. But here I am waiting 30 mins for one burrito. Not to mention, no hot sauce, except for packet Tapatio? The young man did mention to me that they are in the works of changing up their hot sauce due to many complaints, but you could definitely have a better back up then Tapatio, so mediocre. Now on to the food... I was severely craving a cabeza burrito and the only reason why I went here was because they offered cabeza AND fries (which not many mexican shops in this area offer). I ordered the "CALIWAY" which is basically a California burrito, with Cabeza as my meat. No beans. And for $14 I expected much more than a burrito that consisted of 90% rice, 5% (THICK STEAK CUT) Fries (I personally prefer thin cut), 2% Meat, 2% Sauce, 1% Veggies. I'm literally paying $14 for all carbs. The flavor was good, but the content was disappointing, and also to mention the burrito kept falling apart before I could even take a bit out of it. PROs -Friendly staff -Clean and well designed location Cons -today food took a while to get ready. we order 8 tacos and a quesadilla and it took a little over 30 min and there was only one table being serve! -both time the food arrived cold -both times food was mediocre at best and priced at a premium. The Orange Salsa was dull and flavorless. beans and rice im the quesadilla were dull. the tacos were "meh". -you cant get tacos during brunch lol They should hire an experienced restaurant manager or else that place will not going last. Reviews on TACOS and drinks only: We ordered a margarita flight to try and see which one we might like the most. It comes with cotton candy to "clean" your pallet. The Guava was my favorite and I ended up ordering a full one after. We tried every single taco! The tacosway taco was one of my top choices but honestly all of them had something special to bring. Okay, they are still in their soft opening... grand opening will be Oct 23 at 7p. I ordered to-go food for the family. A great package deal where you get all the fixings for tacos with three meat choices for 50 bucks. I also got a kid's meal and an order of chips and guac. While I was waiting for the food to be prepared, I went to the bar and asked for their house margarita. It was really tasty and was served with a Tajin rim. I will be glad when their happy hour starts... 13 bucks was a bit pricier than I planned, but the bartender, Vanessa, was great. The kid's meal are 8 bucks... that's a bit in the high side, too. The host was on break when I arrived, so one of the servers helped me out at the front register with my order. Got to say, there was a little bit of Angels bashing by a Dodger fan manager, but we can still be friends, Paul. But everybody really enjoyed their food, and I really enjoyed my drink, too. while I was waiting I ended up having a nice conversation with Gabriel, the owner of all of the locations. I think this is going to be a great place for Placentia and Yorba Linda. So far, the team is listening to all ideas and concerns from guests and managers are working to make this an awesome spot. The patio is lively, and spacious and great. The interior is hip and, while it is a bit noisy, it's a great vibe with sports on TV and delicious food and drinks. They are aware that one of the big issues with the previous restaurant in this space was slow service. I am sure they are going to work to make sure that's not a problem. I was treated like a valued guest on my first visit here, and the food was tasty, and I am sure going to come back.
