I was impressed as soon as I first stepped into Taffi's. Their interior is familiar and inviting, a rustic reimagining of the classic American diner. The service was friendly as well. I asked if they had any recommendations on what to order, and they gave me a passionate and comprehensive explainer on their favorite dishes. My one small complaint is that they didn't come to top off my coffee until after my meal was finished. I found the food to be excellent, but a bit pricey for what I got. I ended up ordering multiple sides to satiate my appetite. However, I strongly reccomend Taffi's to anyone looking for a great brunch with a lovely atmosphere. Huevos Ahogados: Extremely flavorful broth with the perfect amount of spice. The handmade tortillas were wellmade and made for a lovely pairing with the dish. The poached egg was not cooked to my preference, and I would have enjoyed a runnier yolk. For it's price I wish it came with a side of potatoes. As I didn't find the meal filling enough. Breakfast Potato: One of the best breakfast potatoes I've ever had. A crisp exterior gives way to a luxuriously fluffy interior. It was perfectly spiced, and both herby in flavor with a subtle heat. I ordered this as an additional side.

So happy to see a new place open up here! We went for brunch and it was delightful. Food was solidly good- I had the mushroom scramble, which was tasty; my daughter had huevos ahogados, which was unique, delicious, and assertively spicy. The coffee was not quite strong enough for my taste but came in an adorable cup. My daughter's matcha latte was good. The fruit cup was full of good ripe fruit with lots of blueberries at the bottom. We will definitely go back, so many things we wanted to try on the menu! Excellent and friendly service.

So happy to see this new breakfast spot open in the neighborhood! The service was great, we walked in on a Sunday morning and got sat at the bar right away and very well taken care of. It was pretty busy at this time but still super quick service. We ordered the chilaquiles and breakfast burrito and both were great! The chilaquiles were my personal favorites. They have a full espresso coffee bar so looking forward to trying some bevs in the future!

    Smoked Salmon Benedict, Buttermilk pancake

Randomly came across this establishment on my weekend trip to SF. All the staff is super friendly and hospitable. The food is really something else. I enjoy a salmon eggs Benedict for breakfast pretty frequently and this is by far one of the best I've had. Their buttermilk pancakes are so delicious I had to ask how they make them! The establishment itself is in a really tranquil neighborhood with easy to find parking and very little traffic. The aesthetic is very homey and their plant wall is beautiful.

Got the huevos ahogados. It was delicious. Definitely spicy and don't need the pickled jalapeños (fresh would have made it perfect though. Coffee was served in cute cups.

Classic breakfast: scrambled eggs, thick-cut bacon, smashed potatoes, wheat toast.

This is a very cute corner breakfast spot in a nice neighborhood. I like supporting new, small businesses, especially when the owners are so nice & pleasant. Food has been good every time I've been here. Had the brioche French toast first time I was here and it was great. Today I opted for a lighter, more traditional breakfast and it did not disappoint! Eggs cooked well and thick-cut bacon was crispy. The smashed breakfast potatoes were crunchy on the outside, smooth on the inside and seasoned perfectly. They also have salt water taffy on the bar because one of the owners is Taffi!

Service was so attentive and responsive. I came in for a late lunch and ordered the Reuben sandwich. Solid Reuben nothing to write home about but solid. Looking forward to trying their breakfast items. The space isn't huge so I bet they'll have lines for brunch on weekends.

I mourned the sudden passing of 'Toast' in this location, but like others, I'm REALLY glad these guys have opened up. I just had their Bacon/Avocado eggs Benedict and highly suggest you try it out. The dish was tasty and creative. Service was excellent. I'm looking forward to trying them out for lunch.

A Neighborhood Anchor in San Francisco's Comeback At the…read moreintersection of Visitacion Valley and Little Hollywood in San Francisco, Aroma Buena Café and Kitchen capture the spirit of neighborhood resilience. A pleasure of San Francisco's "comeback" are the great new businesses opening around town. Aroma Buena Kitchen in Visitacion Valley/Little Hollywood is one of those wonderful new additions to the city, and all the better knowing how it's come to be. The location formerly housed the Piccolo Pete deli, which in its prime was a neighborhood institution. When Candlestick Park was around, and the Schlage Lock factory was down the street, Piccolo Pete did big business with big sandwiches ready for tailgating and hearty lunches. But with the Giants leaving the 'stick, followed by the 49ers, and the lock factory closed, the core business was gone. The deli closed in 2016, and the building sat vacant except for a small coffee business on the corner. But what about that coffee business? A few years ago Aroma Buena opened in the tiny space at the corner of Bayshore and Tunnel Road. Though there was just enough space for a counter and a couple of tables, the place really took off, particularly for breakfast take-out. The menu had the standard breakfast and lunch staples, but many with Latin influences reflecting the woman-owned "Hispano World Cuisine" catering business behind the venture. Food was delicious, service was friendly, and prices were decent. It quickly became a neighborhood spot with a loyal clientele. Fast forward to last year, and Aroma Buena was ready to expand into the rest of the building. This allowed the catering business to move onto the premises and a new counter-service sit-down restaurant to open up. The front of the building, long neglected after the deli closed, was transformed by a colorful mural that stretched the entire length of the façade. The interior was completely rebuilt, fresh and bright. The original café at the corner is now known as "Aroma Buena Café," and the new restaurant is "Aroma Buena Kitchen." The two complement each other, with the café focused on breakfast and lunch, and the kitchen focused on sit-down lunch and weekend brunch. Both offer a relaxed, welcoming spot for breakfast and lunch, with a local, community-focused vibe. The café serves up a range of fresh classics with a Latin-inspired twist. Their menu includes hearty breakfast burritos (like the popular chorizo and bacon-egg varieties), savory sandwiches (such as the chicken margherita and oven-roasted turkey), healthy wraps, and tasty salads. In keeping with its "Hispano World Cuisine" roots, the menu blends flavors from Spain, Latin America, the Caribbean, and beyond. The flavors are subtle but present, suggesting a kitchen that understands flavor as heritage rather than garnish. The setup of both the café and kitchen is laid-back and friendly. In both you order at the counter, and your food is brought out to you by the friendly staff. In a nutshell, Aroma Buena Café and Kitchen is a hidden gem in one of San Francisco's less well-known neighborhoods. Each offers a comfortable place with flavorful breakfast and lunch options grounded in Latin-inspired cuisine. Whether you're stopping by for your morning coffee or settling in for a hearty lunch, it delivers good food with a friendly neighborhood feel. The food is hot and delicious. The portions are fair. The service is unfussy and kind. And with these qualities, Aroma Buena is a neighborhood anchor. And in the daily life of a city, that's the true comeback story. Aroma Buena is located at 2155 Bayshore Boulevard (corner of Tunnel Avenue) in San Francisco.

We were seated by the front of house pretty quickly. The space could hold quite a few people, there is a bar area and outside seating. We sat in the back by the kitchen. When we got there, we ordered a couple drinks and a lot of food. I had the okey-dokey artichokey and my partner had the respect your elders drink; both were strong and tasty. It went well with our appetizers of fried okra and fried calamari. I really enjoyed the jalapeño aïoli that came with the okra so much that I started dipping the calamari in it. The calamari coating on the outside was a lot heavier than what I was used to, but it was still really tasty. For our main entrées, I got the fried chicken with mashed potatoes and collard greens and my partner got the porch burger with fries. The fried chicken was cooked perfectly. It wasn't dry. It was juicy and I really liked putting their homemade hot sauce on the chicken and greens. The habanero hot sauce was really spicy, but I liked how sweet it was. My partner's burger was cooked perfectly and it was a big portion. I definitely recommend this place to someone who is bold enough to go on a date and still eat with their hands. Somehow, this was elevated southern food, which could be shown by the prices, but I think it's worth it once in a while.
