Wow - Im surprised to read these reviews. We had a great experience with Tahoe Getaways. We booked a condo back in August 2013 for February 2014. I found the process very easy and there were no surprises. Leading up to our trip they were very good with communication and the check in process was simple. I predominately dealt with Dustin who was great. I only had a couple of issues with the condo we rented, the first was that I realised the condo's smoke detector had no batteries. When I told Dustin he sent someone around first thing in the morning and got it fixed and the remaining detectors were checked. The other issue was comcast but we arrived in a massive storm so it was an area wide issue and Dustin kept me informed and it was fixed quickly. Stayed in this house: http://www.vrbo.com/314566 We stayed here back in November and my family loved it. The home is very clean, spacious, and welcoming. There were six of us and we fit easily with room to spare. The kitchen is well-equipped and has a large dining table to accommodate everyone in your party. The back patio is relaxing - it overlooks the golf course and has a great hot tub that is clean and well-maintained. The location of the house is great - close to the Donner facilities (golf, tennis, rec center, pools, etc.), downtown Truckee, Safeway (about a 10 minute drive), and a convenience store which has everything you could need only a few minutes away. I will definitely try to stay here the next time I come to Tahoe. read more

I left something behind after our stay and when housekeeping didn't find the item, not only was Jenn very responsive, she suggested that someone from Tahoe Getaways look one more time. My family and I stayed at a Northstar Townhome in North Lake Tahoe (15012 Peak View Pl) which is managed by Tahoe Getaways. The booking was easy, communication throughout the process was great. Throughout our stay, they handled all questions/concerns quickly and made sure our stay was a positive one. We have rented homes through Tahoe Getaways 2 summers in a row. I have also rented from VRBO and Tahoe Luxury Properties. I like the selection of homes with Tahoe getaways and the pricing is comparable. Last year, we were waiting for the the home (North Shore Bliss) to be prepped for 4 o'clock check in when it was discovered that there was no water. A maintenance person was there to fix it, but we got in a bit after four. We also had problems with the cable/satellite service that required his help. The floor was mopped but there was a waxy/sticky residue from whatever they used, which required him cleaning it again. Aside from those snags, the property was beautifully appointed and clean, with comfortable beds and nice showers. This summer we stayed at their West Court property, which I had wanted to rent the year prior but it was booked. When we got in at 4, I found it very dirty. The stairs leading down to the garage were covered with sand, grit, and hair. The fridge had food spills in it. The upstairs tub jets were caked in mold and mildew. There was hair gathered around the couch and chair legs on the hardwood floors. I cleaned the floors with a swiffer, a broom and a vacuum for 45 minutes before finally calling Tahoe Getaways. They apologized and send their maintenance crew immediately. They cleaned the fridge and mopped the floors, and our cleaning deposit was partially refunded. But throughout the rest of our stay, I noticed how little this beautiful home was maintained, with dust and cobwebs everywhere. We ended up not using the hot tub because I was wary of when it was last cleaned. It was just unsettling. It seems like the cleaning crew just wipes down the bathrooms and changes the bedding, but what this gorgeous home really needs is a thorough clean. It's a beautiful home with everything you could possibly need. Tons of dishes and utensils, plenty of towels and extra pillows and bedding, and a closet full of board games. I want to use Tahoe Getaways in the future because of their great selection of rentals. I'm just wary of the cleaning and maintenance may be lacking. They should ramp up their cleaning and maintenance efforts instead of just having their rentals skimmed over and hour before their guests are scheduled to arrive. read more

Tahoe Getaways just earned themselves a customer for life. My family and I stayed at a beautiful property that was recommended by their staff. They had a lot of great options so I was torn and took their recommendation! Not only did they hit the nail on the head with the home they recommended for our Christmas vacation, but their service was next level. They truly cared about our experience and made us feel at home. Nicole, in the office, took our call when our coffee pot stopped brewing and they delivered a new one first thing that morning. Tahoe Getaways was great as usual. I dealt with both Jenn and Nicole in the office from initially looking for a suitable property all the way through the checkout process. They are both so responsive and professional and seem to really take into consideration the guest experience. Tahoe Getaways has the resources of a large company but the personal touch of a smaller company. I would highly recommend them. The Evans Lake View Retreat is just that, a beautiful lake front view of Tahoe. We rented this cozy cabin for 10 days and had such a wonderful time. The setting is perfect. I had read reviews that were not favorable, such as the kitchen and baths need updating. I found all to be in well working order, this is a cabin with comfortable furniture and beds. You're there for the beauty of Tahoe and man what a view from the big window. Hot tub was a bonus. Tahoe Getaways people were wonderful to work with, we had a couple of glitches the first day, they were addressed and fixed fast. I would recommend this property to anyone who loves Tahoe, the lake is right out the gate. read more

Very disappointing to see reviews subsequent to our stay where renters were compensated for Tahoe Getaways' misses. I provided feedback via e-mail, via their survey, and as a last resort via Yelp, and didn't hear a peep from the Tahoe Getaways team. Upon further review of the Yelp feedback, there is an abundance of 5 star reviews from reviewers who have only one review on Yelp. This is always a signal that the business might be "fudging" reviews on Yelp. Renters beware! read more

Really enjoyed "eagles nest" at alpine meadows over Labor Day weekend. It was great house and had a great view. There was lots of room for the adults to be upstairs socializing and the kids downstairs playing pool and badminton at the same time ..and then all meet for dinner. The rental company "tahoe getaways" was very responsive when the pilot light was out in the gas fireplace and came right over and fixed it. read more

There has been over 25 years I spent my Xmas holidays in Lake Tahoe area and this year was the best experience ever.The Tahoe Getaways teamwork was super I never have to call them because they know exactly when to contact us and also let us know that the house was ready and my family could get in 2 hrs.earlier without asking.The house was fabulous on Truckee River even though it had no new snow since we prepared to go skiing at Squaw Valley but spending most of the time enjoy ourselves in the house instead.A trip to remember,next time when I plan to stay in Tahoe I will look no further more for vacation rentals just Tahoe Getaways only.Thank you for the job well done! read more

We recently rented a house at Gray's Crossing and the house itself was great and dealing with the reception at Tahoe Getaways was pleasant. However, the rules involved with renting from Tahoe Getaways is not something I would deal with again. They tack on a pretty hefty cleaning fee and ask that you strip the beds, take care of the dishes & take out the garbage. They claim the owner of the house has certain obligations so you're not sure who is responsible for what. The gas grill ran out of propane 1/4 of the way through grilling a nice piece of meat and yes there was a backup tank but it was buried under a solid sheet of ice. The driveway was not plowed well and as a result we got stuck, with a 4W drive. I could go on but won't bore you. I would recommend reading through all contracts thoroughly before renting from this property management. read more

On the day we flew into Reno last weekend, we were notified that the ski lift, resort, restaurants and many more amenities were closed due to Covid-19. We contacted Tahoe Getaways about our options. We had specifically rented this home at the high rate due to ski season. Tahoe Getaways offered to cancel at a 20% penalty fee. If we stayed with them, they refused to discount the high rate. The customer service manager at Tahoe Getaways laughed at me on the phone and said "I'm too busy with other things to deal with this". Nicole Scott also refused to let me talk to the broker (Jim Winterberger) or call the owner of the cabin to explain our situation. We stayed at the property at almost $500 per night with none of the advertised services, including a shuttle which we prepared to use to get around. I have been in contact with California state representatives about price gauging and other avenues I have to turn them in. What a disgrace during this difficult time for America. read more

BEWARE! Their pricing is very disceptive. House listed at $1,350 actually cost us $1,738...almost 25% more. House had many shortcomings including stained sheets, missing blinds, and missing pool table balls. When we reported the problems, we got some story about how they couldn't do anything without tracking down an absentee owner back east, so they didn't fix any of the problems. In general, they will take your money, not provide any customer service, and request that you do half the cleaning before you leave. Never again! read more

This is a top-notch company. The entire process of dealing with them was flawless from the very beginning. The ski house we rented was perfectly advertised, properly priced and flawlessly maintained. Receiving a text/email on the day of our arrival with a code to the lockbox was a nice touch and made it very easy to access the house without dealing with an awkward key handoff. We had one minor issue during our stay, but they sent someone to fix the issue in under an hour on a Sunday. You really couldn't ask for better service. Highly recommended. read more

Our family stayed at The Emerald Club for three nights and we all had a great time! Our youngest daughter was getting married at Homewood and we needed to find a place large enough to accommodate relatives from Texas and California. We were pleasantly surprised at the number of bedrooms and adjoining bathrooms, and how large the kitchen was, as well as the living room. We also enjoyed the hot tub on the patio! The ONLY suggestion would be to add a full length mirror in the bedroom since we were all trying to get ready to attend the wedding. Overall, we had a GREAT time and would highly recommend The Emerald Club to others. We'll definitely be back!! read more

Just this past July we stayed at the Kings Way Lake View house in Lake Tahoe. Before we booked our trip at late notice, we were disappointed that we couldn't get a house on the lake. Our disappointment immediately went away when we arrived at the Kings Way house. Upon entering we found the house to be extremely and more than adequately appointed. My wife is a clean freak and she had no hesitations in the home. The house was plenty large for the nine of us withe plenty of sleeping arrangements. And did I mention the view? INCREDIBLE!!! I loved waking up in the mornings and drinking my coffee on the balcony looking out over the Tahoe valley. The pool table, foosball table and hot tub were perfect entertainment for our high school boys. Its location provided easy access to Tahoe City, Incline Village, Truckee and Donner Lake. Nice appearing house for Tahoe wedding visit, including upstairs and down. So noisy downstairs that even with stocking feet upstairs, baby and others kept waking up. $500 in sound batting in this $1.2M house would have eliminated this issue that stressed us all for 3 days. Washer and drier noise filled the downstairs bedrooms. Contract very demanding "garbage out" "dishes washed and put away" "out by 10 AM or $75 per half hour over" (cleaning crew did not come to property until well after noon so hurrying was unnecessary stress to 6 people). I left very irritated and stressed and time pressured (out by 10 AM), as did our entire group. And then paid $250 for "cleaning", the bulk of which we did. read more

We planned a girls' weekend in Tahoe and booked a "Tahoe Getaways" property. We came to a wonderful place but quickly realized that there had been a mix up and the property was mistakenly listed as a handicap accessible home when it was not (oversight by VRBO rep). Jim and his team quickly came up with alternate properties, allowed us to visit each, and select what property would work best for our specific needs. They built a wheelchair ramp within hours, converted an office on the ground floor into a bedroom, made sure EVERY need was met, and brought us a dozen of the most amazing cupcakes in the world. I had stayed at the Bullshead several times in the past, and when learning that my family from Norway was coming to visit me in California I could not think of any better place to take them than a summer week in Tahoe at the Bullshead lodge. The lodge boasts large windows making it the perfect summer cabin offering lots of sun and light whether you rest inside or spend the lazy summer days at the large deck in the back of the lodge. Truckee River is flowing by just some few feet away from the large sun deck patio, and the entire family went for walks along the river and even taking a swim in the slow running cool waters. We had another family visiting us for a few nights that had an infant, and the layout of the lodge makes it easy to get privacy and quietness in the top floor level of the lodge even when there are lots of energetic kids running around on the main floor. The location of the house makes it easy to get over to Squaw valley and the beaches of Lake Tahoe; we had a day at Squaw High Camp in the swimming pool and a beach day at Lake Tahoe, in addition to the must-do Truckee River rafting, which ended just a few miles away from the sun deck at the Bullshead Lodge. I and my Norwegian family had a week of a lifetime at Bullshead Lodge. read more

I'll start saying that I never write reviews, this is actually the second review I've ever wrote and the reason for it is because me and my family not only had a bad experience in this place, but also their service and management was TERRIBLE. First, they told us we will have some basic features in the house such as a TV, DVD, landline and internet, none of them were working or available. The internet was extremely slow, there was no landline, and the rest wasn't working. Second, they told us that a deep cleaning was going to be made in the cabin before our arrival; there was no deep cleaning! Restrooms, bedrooms, carpet, couches, etc., were VERY dirty, which is absolutely no acceptable. Third, there were mice around the kitchen, which made us spend almost a day trying to get rid of them and hide them from the kid and baby that were in the house. Lastly, once we communicate all the problems we were having to the management, they simply told us they were sorry about the mice issue ("it was due to wild life") and came and put some mice traps around. However, we already have wasted so much time dealing with all the issues we had, we even couldn't watch and enjoy a movie we have rented!! They WERE NOT responsive at all to the concerns and issues we had! I definitely DO NOT recommend this place. read more

My family and I have been pleased with Tahoe Getaways and will rent with them again I'm sure. We visit Tahoe each and every year. My advice is to email them, give them an idea what your needs are, when exactly you want to rent/for how many days, and a price range per night that you are thinking of. They will come back with several available options that meet (and possibly exceed) your criteria. Prices listed on the web may well be lower if you talk to them directly! It's important to realize you are renting someone's home vs staying in a hotel. Cleaning Fees are about $250 and from what I've seen, that is pretty standard on homes like these... which, by the way, the two we have stayed at were absolutely beautiful! (We stayed at "Archway" and "Olive Branch") I've seen the reviews that the pricing was high. We usually have about 10 people staying with us, so if we were to stay in a hotel, we would certainly have to have more than one room. If we look at it this way, the pricing makes sense. AND, again... BEAUTIFUL, HUGE, "Like New" homes with lots of living area, hot tubs, full kitchens, jacuzzi tubs, heated bathroom floors--the works! The staff we talked to was very responsive and we booked without problems. They called when the place was ready for us, at least a couple hours before the promise time. Picking up the keys was fast and easy in a convenient Tahoe City location. read more
