The decor and atmosphere really make you feel like you've been transported to a lively izakaya in Japan--it's the perfect spot for sharing a wide variety of small plates. The Tapas & Kitchen: * Ankimo (Monkfish Liver): This was a standout. It was prepared perfectly--rich, velvety, and a great start to the meal. * Grilled Highlights: The kitchen really excels with the grill. The chicken skin is crispy and decadent, and the chicken liver is another major hit--perfectly cooked and full of flavor. * Seafood Favorites: My wife absolutely loved the steamed clams, and the grilled oysters were a hit as well. The octopus salad was also very fresh and well-balanced. The Sushi Bar: * Fish Selection: The quality and variety here are impressive. We ordered a mix of rolls and nigiri, including scallop, sweet shrimp, and tuna maki. * Quality: Every piece of fish was notably fresh. The only minor critique was the sushi rice--it was a bit dry for my personal taste, but the quality of the seafood more than made up for it. * Snail (Tsubugai): It's great to see more unique options like snail on the menu; it's a nice touch for those who appreciate traditional Japanese variety. The Experience: The menu is huge and well-rounded, offering something for everyone. Despite being our first time, the service was efficient and the pricing felt very fair for the quality and portion sizes provided.

It's still like eating in a walk-in freezer, and their water still tastes like pipe interior, but the food and service has been so much better. The rice is toothsome for what I'm used to, but I've been told the katsudon (so good) is the most authentic to what my friend used to get at a Japanese university. Their tonkotsu ramen broth is pretty great too! I always have a hard time choosing but wish I'd try more from the menu. I appreciate the house-made pickles (though a bit too sweet for me to eat the whole plate). It's been nice and speedy to pay and leave which makes a big change from what I had experienced in the past.

I haven't ordered the ramen for myself, but I've tried the ones my party ordered, and I feel the ramen here is okay. The broth simply isn't as good as Okiboru and other places I've been to. I do feel the katsu and chicken katsu don are a little bit better than others in the area, as the portion size of the protein seems a little more. Had the karaage and gyoza as appetizers. Pan fried gyoza is better than the deep fried. 3.5 stars

Definitely a winner, salmon was very fresh and serving was very big. Also got an ochazuke which was refreshing and flavorful! Tasted kinda like a more savory genmaicha with salmon inside. I already come here pretty often and will definitely be adding the salmon bowl into my rotation. I think it's better than the one at shoya, and with a much better wait.

If you are close to Buford Hwy you should try this place. They have parking for a few cars right in front, a smallish restaurant inside with a full sushi bar. Their menu is pretty comprehensive and includes fried rice, noodles, sushi rolls, sashimi, soups etc. As we were a large group we ordered a bunch of things. Most of the entrees are served with a salad and soup making it quite the meal. We ordered the sashimi appetizer, the pork gyoza, shrimp shumai, omelette, combination fried rice, B-52 roll, sunrise roll, crunchy roll I think. Sashimi was fresh - yellowtail, tuna, salmon. The gyoza was delicious and table favorite Honestly, I even enjoyed the pork belly omelette. So flavorful... The fried rice was cooked well but was missing some seasoning/salt. Otherwise good. The rolls were great and we selected ones that had some spice. My favorite was the sunrise roll - a little crunchy inside yet with a slight kick. The staff felt a little overwhelmed with our group but they were polite and helpful. Food was prices reasonably and worth it (for the portion sizes).

When I walked in, I was impressed to see a Michelin-recommended sign posted at the entrance, which definitely made me curious to try something they were recognized for. I tried the vegetarian chive and egg bun appetizer, which was light and delicious if you are a fan of chives. Our table also ordered the fried potsticker dumplings--gets good and a must-try. The noodles were so fresh, and I loved that you can actually customize and pick your noodle size. It was also really cool that you can watch them make the noodles right through the window! The restaurant was clean, and we were able to be seated right away. There was a steady flow of people to include take out but it didn't feel overwhelmingly busy. The waitstaff was excellent and made sure we fully understood how the menu worked. Our food was delivered promptly and all at one time. While everything tasted great, I would have preferred the appetizers to come out first, as delivering it all together put a lot on the table at once. Overall, it's a frilly good , clean spot with great service, and I'd definitely recommend it!

Arrived around noon on Saturday and it was already very busy. Plenty of options for hot and cold selections. We opted for the panko shrimp pseudo bento box that included miso soup, salad, 5 tasty shrimp, + seafood salad ! For the California eel roll, we omitted the krab stick for more avocado, eel was on top. Different but tasty version. Plenty of food especially for lunch. When we arrived, I realized the location used to be the old Hong Kong Supermarket -- only longtime locals would probably remember that. The layout inside was pretty interesting. There was a Te'amos milk tea shop in the middle, Lao Szechuan on the right, and the hot pot & BBQ restaurant on the left. The staff greeted us warmly and quickly helped us get seated. One thing that pleasantly surprised me was that they offered freshly made milk teas and fruit teas instead of bottled drinks. The drinks were decent and refreshing, especially for balancing out the richness of the meal. Each person gets their own mini hot pot, which I really liked because everyone could customize their own soup base and ingredients. We chose a variety of broths including mushroom, spicy mala, tomato, and herbal soup. Using the iPad ordering system, we basically ordered one of everything from both the hot pot and BBQ menus. The food came out surprisingly fast, and they even used robots to deliver dishes to the table, which was smooth and efficient. For hot pot, my personal favorites were the fatty beef slices, lamb, beef tripe, black tripe, tofu skin rolls, squid flowers, enoki mushrooms, corn, lotus root slices, kelp knots, fish balls, and beef tendon balls. Everything tasted great with the broth and my favorite sesame dipping sauce. On the BBQ side, the standout items for me were the cumin lamb, beef tongue, chicken cartilage, short ribs, and squid. We weren't exactly BBQ experts, so some meats weren't cooked perfectly, but the flavor was still really enjoyable -- and the best part was that you could keep ordering as much as you wanted. Honestly, for around $40 per person, it felt like a very good value. My parents both thought it was worth the price. We left full and satisfied, and the service was always attentive whenever we needed something. Overall, it was a really enjoyable Mother's Day meal, and I'd definitely come back again with friends next time.

Food: 3.5/5 there is a Kanpai near my hometown that was more 4/5, so I thought I would get a similar experience here, but their hot food bar had barely warm food and not as many options. Tables have spots for individual pots, and the BBQ grill is shared. The Tom Yum broth itself was good. Meat quality was up to par. Vegetables could have been fresher. For anyone with allergies: the sauce bar had a thoroughly written out allergy table and was clean, which was a plus. Drinks: Mai Tai was actually pretty good, and this is coming from someone that typically sticks with a beer. Sapporo is available on draft! Service/cleanliness: 3/5 the host sat us, a party of 3, down at a table meant for 6, which was interesting. We were quite literally one of 2 parties there, and only one other couple showed up while we dined. Our table was also the only table that had a grill with browned oil that came from who knows where. We had it changed to a clean one, but when we were handed the tablet to order, this was also covered in grease/oil. The bathrooms and sauce bar were clean, but at the table I was not satisfied. The server herself was very nice and explained the AYCE experience well. Ambiance: quiet music in the background, plenty of tables that could sit 4, 6, and 8.
