This is probably my favorite AYCE sushi restaurant in Texas! My friends and I drove down to Houston mainly for this, and we were not disappointed! The service was super fast, and I think the small size restaurant is one of the reason. The servers were super friendly and allowed us to choose different tiers for the AYCE options, since some of us didn't want to pay extra fees. I wanted the Taizzi tier, because I was craving sashimi, but my friends wanted the regular tier only. The sashimi were THICKKKKK, and I was not expecting that at all. Most AYCE places give you small pieces of sashimi if anything, but Taizzi literally throws me a huge slab of cut quality salmon. It was delicious & filling, but my favorite are the nigiris! Their fatty salmon, octopus and unagi nigiri were so good, and the rice to fish ratio was perfect. They didn't overstuff the nigiri with too much rice, and the fish pieces were huge (see photos). Since I got different tier than my friends, we couldn't share our food, so I couldn't try their sushi rolls. I can't finish one by myself, since I was focusing on the sashimi and nigiri, but they all look pretty tasty. The ahi tower was high quality with good rice to fish ratio, and everything blends well together. Their appetizers had its hits and misses, like the popcorn chicken was bleh, but shrimp tempura were good-- it doesn't matter since the main course is the sushi! They even have delicious tempura ice-cream for dessert and it was YUMMY. The ice-cream did not melt at all inside but the coating was warm and toasty *drools* The one thing that throws me off was the restaurant being super small. I was expecting more space, but they probably can fit like 40 people max. We came with a group of 9 so we basically took 3 tables alone. Let me tell you something, they are VERY generous with the fish cuts and rolls stuffing. It was thicc! Now this may sound strange, but the highlight dish that I had to order second was the kalbi (kbbq short rib) it was sweet and so delicious. I compliment the dish with sizzling cheesy corn. Perfect duo. The owner, Tai, provided an awesome service. He has an outgoing personality and a sense of humor that makes the dining experience fun. There were so many options to choose from for all you can eat, more than some other places I've been to where they only give you maybe like 5 rolls to choose from but this seemed like their whole menu! Love me some AYCE sushi -- this is a great option. A couple things to note: -*Their rolls are massive. We ordered quite a few special rolls, which I immediately regretted. They filled me up way too quickly. If I end up returning, I'd stick to sashimi and limit my special roll orders. No rice, just the good stuff. The sashimi/nigiri are also really thick, although I think you can request a thinner cut. -*Their lowest spicy level is pretty spicy. The spicy rolls are marked with a pepper icon on the menu. I saw upwards of 3 peppers and ended up ordering a roll with 1 pepper. I figured it'd have a little kick. It was too spicy for me and left my mouth burning. -Overall, everything was delicious. Good quality fish. -They have a huge menu, with so many different rolls. -They also have a system in place to pace customer orders. You order 3 items at a time. This is helpful because they do charge for leftover food. The service was really friendly. I will say that they were understaffed (just one server) but he did his best to handle everything. There are three levels of ayce and we got the most premium option. I think the quality and variety of sushi and none-sushi food you get is easily worth $40. Sashimi was thick and fresh. Eel and umami beef were really tender and flavorful. One of the none-sushi items we got was udon and I liked that it was a medium size bowl, enough to diversify the meal without filling up too much stomach space. Solid go-to spot for ayce sushi. Not a fan. I can understand the appeal of affordable sushi, but honestly I was disappointed. My personal preference a longer roll with smaller individual slices. They did not have those. Talk about chunky, short rolls with almost too much fish. Yes, too much fish with sushi is possible. With so much fish, the texture is all out of whack. You don't get a nice crunch or mouthfeel. You get rice and wet fish which turns into mush. Service was good, but a little weird. Be warned about dessert. Only one mochi person. The sushi menu itself is overwhelming. I had the yellowtail roll, red dragon roll, shrimp tempura roll, Spam roll, salmon skin roll, and spicy salmon roll. I really don't know which one was my favorite because most of them were amazing! There was so much fish included in the yellowtail roll, I actually ended up with a big chunk on its own. So tender and so fresh. The red dragon was generously portioned and perfectly cooked. The shrimp tempura may have been one of the versions I've ever tried; perfect balance of flavors, and the panko wasn't roo hard/crunchy as it often is. The spicy salmon was also delicious, with decent heat. The salmon skin roll was good, but not great, because much of it was salmon flesh vs. skin. The Spam roll was a hit for my little one! Our waiter was genuinely nice and friendly. He was busy, but somehow still attentive despite also being a sushi chef. What a great find. On a typical day, I would shy away from anything with the words all you can eat, but after a long day of travel and working, this was an easy walk. I was shocked by the quality of the food and the service. I did an awful job of taking photos, but I can tell you it was all amazing. Make sure you try any of the rolls made with soy paper. We had a craving for sushi the other day and was in the area so we decided to stop by and see what it's all about. The restaurant is kind of on the smaller scale but we were able to get a seat right away. The place is very clean and the service was excellent. The menu was huge but was very organized and color coded for the different tiers of AYCE of your choice. This is not the same as Chinese Buffet AYCE sushi. Everything is made to order so food is more fresh and yummy. Miso Soup (3.5 stars) was good as good as a regular Sushi establishments Hotate (Scallop) Nigiri (5 stars) was very fresh and they didn't skimp on the bay scallops either. The rice to scallop ratio was excellent. Tai (Red Snapper) Nigiri (4 stars) was fresh and yummy. Rice to fish ratio was decent. Sake (Salmon) Nigiri (5 stars) was amazing. It literally melts in the mouth. We thought the rice to fish ratio was quite decent. Ebi (Shrimp) Nigiri (3 stars) was ok, it didn't stand out from any other sushi places. Ahi Tower (4 stars) was fun and different. It looks like a mini cake with rice, Masago, Spicy Crab, Spicy Tuna crunch in special sauce. We enjoyed the different flavors/textures in every bite. The creamy special sauce makes it even more appetizing. Screaming O (4 stars) is thinly sliced Pepper Tuna with S.O Sauce. Tuna was perfectly seared, the texture was very nice with a melt in the mouth feel and a nice peppery crust. The sauce compliments the tuna very well. Great dish! Shrimp Tempura (3 stars) had too much breading on it, at least it was very crispy haha. Spicy Tuna and Spicy Salmon Hand Rolls (2.5 stars) were too big. Too much rice and totally fills you up. We made the mistake of ordering 2 of each. They were quite generous with the Tuna and Salmon though. Green Tea Tempura Ice cream (3 stars) were okay. You can't really go wrong with the sushi, but if you need some recommendations here's some of the dishes I like! Caterpillar: eel, avocado, eel sauce Mountain: a baked roll with salmon, crab, and I think Japanese mayo. I was skeptical about it but it was tasty! This was my first time here due to a coworker's recommendation. They do have a wide selection of rolls with unlimited options of sashimi and nigiri only if you choose to pay an arm and a leg. Yes their sashimi peaces were a nice size but not fresh. I tasted the frozen chunks of the sashimi. Granted the presentation was great but the food was not worth what we paid for. So there are 3 different types of AYCE. Premium, Luxury and Taizzi. For kids it's their age plus the base price of the AYCE deal you choose. Our bill was over $140 for 2.5 people (2 adults plus a 5 year old). You can not eat AYCE sashimi unless you pick the Taizzi deal. I'd rather go to Sushi Masa. They have it all and the price is fair. I found out about this place via the Facebook group "Chow Down in Chinatown" and had to try it based on the rave reviews. I wasn't disappointed! Taizzi is located right off I10 near Katy Mills Mall and is currently closed for dine in service. It's easy to place an order, though. Just call or text the restaurant with your order and they will text you a picture of your receipt. Then you have the option to pay with credit card via phone or using Venmo/Zelle. Cash works, too, but no change is given. I was perfectly comfortable with these options since I don't particularly want to go into shops these days, anyway! We picked up a massive tray of nigiri and a few other dishes for dinner last weekend and I was happy with our meal. Great value for the price! We have been ordering from Taizzi since 2020; April 4, 2020 to be exact. And they horribly messed up my order along with many others. They weren't prepared for the cabin fevered sushi lovers to bombard them. But they publicly apologized to everyone and refunded every customer! This is when they won us over. We frequent Taizzi for their excellent customer service. They always make it right if they mess up and never hesitate to apologize. Oh yea, the food. Excellent every time! Their sashimi and sushi pieces are never skimped. The super white is our absolute favorite. We wish they had smoked salmon but it's okay. Our favorite rolls are Negihama and Final Destination 2. Also the hand rolls are perfect and never just full of rice. This is a made to order buffet as well as a regular full menu restaurant. We like to get to go tho. We went here on a Saturday night since it was in the Katy area. I was trying to find a sushi place that wouldn't just have rolls but also sashimi. The pictures in the review for this place looked great so I decided to give it a try. We were a bit skeptical when we pulled into the parking lot since the shop looked small and there wasn't a lot of cars. We walked in and there wasn't a wait, even though you can get in line ahead of time through Yelp. We order 4 dishes, 3 sashimi and 1 roll. All were good. We were surprised how thick the cut of the fish was, not that we're complaining. The roll was also very good. There's also an AYCE option, which would be great if all you want is just sashimi.
