I needed a valve changed out on leaking tire. . I fixed it in 15 minutes for no charge. Have all been good in the past.

Desk lady is wild. Super dramatic response and dodgy per a request for an "at most" quote question to brakes and rotors on my car. If I request to have my brake pads and rotors replaced then that's my request, not your judgement to say I cannot ask how much that service would that cost. Learn to make a sale and be transparent rather than assume I'm not sure what my car needs. Complete foolishness and unprofessional. read more

Daughter took her car to Mavis (which she had used many times before for other maintenance) because her HVAC suddenly stopped working. They charged her over $200 for an Evac & Recharge along with some R134 refrigerant. Then after that didn't fix it they said it needed a new evaporator and quoted $1800 plus tax. Took it to another mechanic and they found that the problem was that the inside blower fan had died. It was a much much simpler and cheaper fix. They also had to recharge the system because it appears Mavis removed the whatever refrigerant was in the system after they "recharged" it. And since the AC was working fine until the blower failed, I bet it never needed the "recharge" they charged her for to begin with. They completely misdiagnosed the AC problem and not only charged her but then tried to sell her a very expensive and unneeded evaporator replacement. I guess the takeaway is that if you have an AC problem, take it to a real AC repair shop, not a tire and brake shop. read more

Traveling South on I-95 recently, I noticed a low tire pressure warning. Not wanting to change a tire in 100 degree heat on the side of I-95, I luckily made it to the next exit. Exit 311 in St. Augustine. Once safely off of I-95, I searched for a Tire service center. The closest was Marvis Tire and Brake 1 mile east of exit 311. I drove it the 1 mile and was met by a friendly front desk guy who could not have been any more friendly and understanding . An hour later I was back on the road with a brand new tire. I've been building Muscle Cars and Offroad Race Vehicles for 25 years. I run wheel spacers on my personal cars for handling primarily. I buy my own tires online, do all my own maintenance etc except tire mounting as no room for that equipment at my home. 2nd time I've been to this shop. Last time too. I'm told they cannot mount my rear tires with the spacers and lugnuts that I drove in with. A corporate policy. will not mount spacers. so in order to drive away I had to buy aftermarket short lugnuts for the rears. they upcharge me 100% for lugs that I do not need, but can't leave their shop with the setup I drove in with. I have the original lugs in my shop at the house. So because of some Coprorate policy on mounting my own existing spacers that I drove in on and my own lugs fit for the spacers, I have to buy aftermarket short set of ten lugnuts for $115!! I get paying their cost for an issue that is their policy, but tell me adding insult to injury WHY I'm paying 100% markup for lugs I didn't need in the first place?? Those lugnuts are $5.59 each at AutoZone, they charge me $11.51 each...FOR LUGNUTS THAT I DO NOT NEED if not for this dumb spacer policy. If I owned or managed this shop, I'd at the very least sell them at my cost for the added inconvenience of bringing the car home, unmounting the rears and re-mounting with the proper lugs to fit my spacers. thanks a lot for the stupid customer service MAVIS. Have a great run you'll not see us or our referrals again. Makes no sense. DONT UPCHARGE 100% for a set of Lugnuts I'm forced to buy because of YOUR POLICY. HOW STUPID IS THAT?! Update on my previous review. I had a bad experience which I know happens to all businesses. Unlike most I have had where the company just says "oh well, another customer will fill void created by this jerk," I was pleasantly surprised by multiple employees reaching out. They didn't make any excuses, admitted to flaws in system, and promised better service in future. I appreciated the time, effort and apology by their manager. I was quoted $69.95 for an oil change. When I got to the store I found out I was being charged a little over $92.00 when I asked why the Transition Manager said he could have charged me $114 and he got it down to the $92.00. I mentioned that I would be writing reviews about this and he immediately said all right it's $114. I paid because I had to get my car. I later found out the $69.95 quote was for oil only, it didn't include parts or labor. The home office has already given me a $45 voucher agreeing that this at best was deceptive. Many people are not aware of this when buying new tires, there is a reason for the yellow and red dot. And many of the tire techs don't know about these marks them self. If you're buying 50,000 mile tire you want them placed on your room correctly. The factory purchase these marks on those tires for a purpose.. I was just at this Mavis discount tire yesterday October 19, 2019. I like to share something with you all. These guys at this center don't know what they're doing. I'd rather get them and no star rating the guy Alex was rude. He was trying to tell me I was wrong when I was right. The red and yellow dot or put on by the manufacture yellow that indicates the latest part of the tire read that indicates the heaviest part of tire the red dot will always supersede the yellow dot. If there's only a yellow dot then only that that need to be aligned with the valve stem. These two dots will also wash off so if your tires are put on your rim incorrectly do not wash them off make them put them on the way the manufacturer wants them to be installed on your rim there is a great purpose for these two dots. read more

I asked when my car would be brought into the bay today after waiting well past my appointment time, and the store manager looked at me like I was an idiot and said "Have you ever been to the doctor? The Beach Blvd location is absolutely horrible. Spent several hours here, they did not fix the problem. Come back two days later for them to say they need time to fix it. Then they took no accountability for the mistakes they had made. Once we caused a fuss they were able to fit us in. Not the best. Will be taking my business elsewhere. read more

When we picked up the car they said I also had something else that needed to be replaced but since they knew I was already spending way more than I wanted to they just replaced it at no charge? What? Who does that! Then the next day a brake light came on so we took it back and there was a sensor that needed to be replaced. Had nothing to do with their work but they just replaced it. No charge. I was such a big fan of this place and today I'm not a fan anymore. They took such great care of me when I bought my tires that I decided I would give them my business for all oil changes and tire rotations. I went back in November still excellent service but today a totally different experience. It cost double in price!! 2nd they asked me for a wheel lock. I'm like what is that? So either last time either they didn't rotate my tires or the kept/lost it. If I wouldn't have asked I might not have known they didn't rotate them. She like come back and we can remove the lock. I'm like guess I have to go back to the dealership. Her comment back we'll can't help someone who doesn't want it!!! I guess since they got bought service is going downhill fast!! This location saved my butt today. While coming home from a campground one of my RV tires blew. Called towing services and garages in the area and nobody could help me. Found a Mavis tire 20 minutes away. Called, they had my tire and could help. I was a loyal customer of Sun Tire for over 8 years, however, this last time I went to them I was quoted $882+ for repair. I got a second quote and did some research myself online only to find this repair is on average only $200.00. Further, I was sold two brand new tires I was told that I desperately needed, however, I am now thinking that because I am a woman I was simply an easy catch to increase this store's bottom line. Granted, I understand the "me too" movement, however, I can honestly say that I don't know a single woman that has not been ripped off my mechanics and/or repair shops. I first dropped by about two days after they opened at the beaches and needed help with tire pressure. They were very courteous and professional and I told them that I would be back based upon their professionalism and efficiency. Today my Mercedes had an "almost flat tire" due to a nail. I took my 2014 Nissan Pathfinder in last month for 2 new tires, front and rear brake pads, and an alignment (although my alignment never felt too terribly off). They were instructed to put the 2 new tires on the rear and rotate the 2 current rear tires to the front. When I picked up my vehicle, I immediately noticed the new tires were put on the front. They were just about to close up and it was late so I just decided to come back another day to have them swapped. However, on my drive home, I noticed that the alignment was so bad that I had to steer quite a bit to the left to drive straight... By the time I arrived home, I called, but they'd already left for the day. So the following day, I drove back up there and explained that the alignment was way off and that the tires needed to be swapped. After several hours of waiting, they finished up and I drove home. It felt much better, but still not perfect. I still have to constantly adjust left because my vehicle pulls right... I'm writing this review from the waiting area of another local shop to see if they can fix Mavis' screw up. Once this is done correctly, I will be headed to Mavis for reimbursement. I'll update this review with whatever action they decide to take which should at the very least include a full refund for the "alignment". read more

Overall just ok.....UPDATE- response from "Business Manager" says I deserve better call to discuss. I called "Customer Service rep asked how can I help you.... that was it. I had my truck towed there with a flat tire and it was parked out front..I called Mavis tire and was directed to another store (Bartram), who took my information to purchase four tires and I was quoted the price. He assured me that it wasn't necessary for me to call the Beach Boulevard store and I told him that I needed it ASAP or at the latest noon, because I had to work. When I didn't hear from them , I got a ride to the store and the guy at the counter said he would get the tires put on, but later said he didn't get the message from the other store. He tried to charge me more than the price quoted ..My spare was flat, so yesterday I called and talked to Chris..I asked him if they put the best tire on the spare and he said "no", but would call me by the end of the day when he found one of my good tires, so I could come in at 2pm today and get the spare put on my Ranger. Today, I called and spoke to Alex on the phone, who argued that no one checks/replaces a spare and that it's probably a different rim..Alex looked under the car and told me that none of the tires would fit on that rim, as the spare rim was a different size..Alex did agree to have one of the guys in the garage put air in the spare, so I asked the guy putting the air in the tire and he confirmed that the rim and tire size of the spare were the same..So Chris avoided me and Alex flat out lied to me about putting the best tire from my old tires on the truck as a spare..when I bought 4 new tires from them) spare tires are important for safety in an emergency..Alex said that he'd been working in the tire business for 15 years..I've been buying tires for 45 years... read more
