They started the oil change and then told me they couldn't complete it because my mechanic had blocked the oil filter and they needed a special tool that they didn't have. Turns out that they rotated a radiator hose clamp into the oil filter housing. Yesterday, I took my car into my regular mechanic for the oil change. Over the course of the past week, the direct contact with the oil filter housing and car vibrations damaged the hose and antifreeze was leaking. Thankfully, my mechanic caught it. I went back to Waunakee Super-Lube and asked how this could happen. The manager smirked and laughed, and said they didn't do anything - it was my mechanic's fault. Bulls*%#!! Their incompetence and dishonesty has now cost me over $600. Steer clear of Waunakee Super-Lube!! In response to the owner's reply: The facts remain that I had a radiator hose leak, which resulted in total repair bill of $650. The other facts: 1) The last time I had any work done on my car was with the mechanic in March 2025, which was the last oil change. 2) I came into Waunakee Super-Lube for this latest oil change. 3) A week later, I took it into my mechanic for the oil change and he saw the radiator hose was against the oil filter housing, and was leaking anti-freeze. I was half down in fluid which he topped off. 4) I came back today to have it fixed - when I pulled off the highway to get to the shop, there was white steam coming out from under my hood. So if you didn't have this special tool, how did the radiator hose get pushed against the oil filter housing? A hook tool might have been used to do the work of this tool, which didn't work hence the claim of needing a special tool. If my mechanic caused this, it would have been months ago and I would have had problems long before this past week. I attached photos that I took last week. I scheduled my appointment with ease for an oil change, and they called me during the process to let me know that my coolant was low, told me the price it would be to top it off ($5), and let me make the choice whether or not to do it. I also asked them to do a code scan for a check engine light, and they went above and beyond. They did extensive investigation, downloaded new software to complete it (as I have an Italian car), and left no stone unturned to assure me that the motor was running fine and the code was related to a software issue with my adaptive cruise control. With friendly customer service on top of that, this is an easy 5 star review.

They took great care of me to such an extent that I want to bring my vehicle back for any maintenance that needs to be done. Pros: The front desk guy: very friendly, he remembers the clients and interacts with them on a personal level. My vehicle was not completely repaired on the first try. I called when the issue resurfaced and he immediately remembered who I was, expressed concern, and scheduled a follow up appointment. Their attitude: it's evident that they are committed to getting the job done right. It seems as if every person working there has a genuine love and interest for what they do. Their integrity: you have to worry about whether mechanics are trying to upsell you on things you do not need a lot of times. This was not the case here whatsoever. I did not get the "greedy" vibe from this place. They were genuinely concerned with fixing what the issue was and sending me on the way from there. Cons: I'm short on that right now. I dropped off the car first thing in the morning, saying, "Inspect the air conditioning, do oil and lube, and inspect all systems." The guy wrote it down. As I picked up the car at the end of the day, I looked at the invoice. They hadn't taken a look at the air conditioning at all. Nothin'. Nada. Duh! Air conditioning had been at the top of the list. How could have possibly have missed AIR CONDITIONING unless they were illiterate⁉ They essentially had done nothin' worth anything that day, and charged me for doin' nothin'. They weren't even apologetic. I was not a happy camper. I was new in town, didn't know anyone so -- fool that I was,-- I gave them another chance. They didn't do any better the second time around. According to my experience, they charged me a pretty penny for doing doodly-squat. Do I recommend them? Not on your life. Not a chance. They s_ck -- is that strong enough wording? I categorize them as "incompetent thieves." Move on. Find another shop. I can say unequivocally that Gary's Wille's was the worst vehicle repair shop I have ever gone to. I would give them "zero stars" if I could (or even a negative rating, like "minus 5"). This shop doesn't deserve one star, but Yelp requires a rating, so fine, one f'in' star.
