SERVICE Service was friendly and attentive - received bottled water, which was nice! Shoutout to Apple for her amazing hair expertise and the time she takes to share what she sees from a professional stylist, as well as Will for being super cordial and easy to converse with! I didn't know what to expect since I've never gotten a perm before but the hair stylist was Yoko and she was so kind and patient. She helped getting me situated where we discussed what type of perm I wanted. She shampooed my hair and that off the bat was so relaxing and set the tone of my experience. We had a great conversations as she prepared my hair - while doing the perm I was given some nice Korean coffee and was asked if I was comfortable while the perm was setting it. Yoko provided me Instructions on how to maintain the perm and also provided me products to help maintain my hair. My months of growing my hair out and finally getting my first perm experience was fantastic. I'll becoming back in 6weeks for my touch ups. Yoko really took care of me and I enjoyed the experience!!!

I asked for a rounded haircut with lots of layers and face-framing pieces and I showed her my inspo photos as well. She first washed my hair and then got started on the cut. Yessenia did an amazing job! She was friendly and professional and gave me exactly what I requested. I wasn't sure whether to go with lighter or heavier curtain bangs/face-framing pieces, and she knew exactly what would suit me when she suggested sticking with lighter face framing. She also somehow managed to style my frizzy Indian hair perfectly without using much tension on the brush, which was shocking to me. I have tried texting and the response I get every time is "ok", even if I ask a question in my appointment request. I've tried making an appointment online and the appointment slots are always available and open, which can't be true. While in the salon, I've seen them answer the phone when someone calls to make an appointment, they are always on speakerphone, and I have never seen anyone write anything down after the phone call, they say ok and then just continue to work. Out of the 5 or 6 times I've been here I have only been seen at the time of my appointment once. Once! I am often waiting 30-45 mins and I stay because I have a very tight schedule and make appointments on the only days I can. I'm currently sitting waiting for my 5:00 appointment and it is 5:40 and there are 5 others also waiting, though I don't know what time their appointments are or were. (At 5:06 my manicurist asked me to wait 15 mins and I said fine....but I ended up leaving at 5:45 because she was doing someone's pedicure.) I have always been happy with the services I've received here and their prices are reasonable, which are the reasons for the 2 stars, but I simply will not be back due to their constant lack of respect of "appointment times".

Think a rainy day can't become the best? Well, so did I . Had my hair apt this morning with Marilyn. Started laughing 2 minutes into my apt. Of course I want her to make me look and feel at least 20 years younger every visit. Don't know how she does it, but I walked out with a spring in my step :). Amazing colorist. Period. To me the best. My hair is edgy,red with very light, wide strips. I get stopped, honestly, 2 times a week by someone asking about it. Makes me feel great, as they are usually the "younger hip crowd". She talked me into a certain cut today. Can't believe I'd never had this particular style, but WOW did I come home and look in the mirror!. Fabulous. The cut highlights my color/strips even better. Usually its the other way around. Marilyn is a pro all the way. But more importantly she loves what she does and she loves people, and it shows. I feel so fortunate to have her as my stylist/colorist that I've come back here to leave some additional comments. It's a five star salon. Let me start by sharing with you the expertise of Marilyn's 30+ years of color matching and cutting style! I was referred to her when I noticed my clients hair color was so natural that I really thought it was natural until she corrected me that it was not natural at all. I explained my disaster's with previous color stylist. I went to Marilyn 9 years ago, and I will not see anyone else. I color and highlight my hair and it looks like I don't. After having my hair botched the last two times I tried one more time on my intuition of reading Yelp reviews. This shop was rated highly. The only operator that I wanted to go to after reading the reviews was Bruce. When I called, he said he was not taking new clients. He was very friendly and talked to me as if we were old aquaintances. I felt trust right away. I told him of my experiiences of late with my hair. He right away suggested I make an appointment with Patti at his shop. He guaranteed I would be satisfied. So, I did. She was great. I was comfortable immediately. My haircut was just what I wanted. She LISTENED! You don't get that anymore. The price was only $38 with a shampoo and blowout. She didn't even know what Yelp was! This is a diamond in the rough. All the operators are not kids. Hi, i just got back after a hair cut from Kelsey Moore at TIFT!(my new acronym as I am goingto be referring to it a LOT!) The salon is a no frills, no-fuss place which I definitely prefer these days (so refreshing from all the the pretentious, falsey, snobby high-end salons). That said, this review is for Kelsey, she gave me a simple and cute hair cut. Although she's young, her advice is excellent. She takes the time to listen to your ideas and study your hair type and gives very practical advice-something that I'd been missing for a long long time! I started going to Shelly Milazzo over 25 years ago and followed her to about 3 shops before she moved to Take it From the Top. Shelley is truly gifted and was perfect for me until I got to the point that I needed to go for weekly appointments. I then switched to Marilyn Maxwell, who is there Wed. through Sat. and is very flexible with her schedule. I highly recommend both Shelley and Marilyn. I arrived for my appointment early and the stylist greeted me cheerfully and had me take a seat at her station. She asked lots of questions about how I wanted it cut to make sure we were on the same page. It was a Friday evening and there were no other stylists working, so the salon was nice and quiet. The place was very clean and decorated in a nice minimalist style that I liked. The stylist was very personable and charming; I enjoyed talking to her as she cut my hair. When she turned me around to see my new hairdo, I was a bit shocked by how short it was. I could see she did an excellent job cutting it precisely as we'd discussed, but one thing we forgot to talk about was how much to take off. It's the shortest it's ever been. She was so nice and worked so hard on my haircut I didn't want to say anything about the short length. It worked out okay because here I am a week later loving it. I don't think I've ever had such a clean, even haircut and it's a dream to style (takes less than five minutes). I'll like it even more in about a month when it grows out a little.

I received a full set of highlights from Brianna and she did an amazing job! It looked super natural and I exactly like the pictures I brought in. We were just hanging around town, when we decided to head to her salon for a hair cut. I came in with the intention of a simple trimming, and left with beautifully wavy hair! My recently retired gal had stopped selling that brand in her salon so I kept buying them at Gorgeous A Salon. Anyway, I decided to try out this place for my cut and balayage color, and Sophia has been excellent! She nails it every time, and goes above and beyond to make me feel welcome and make me look great! My previous gal often would change my look or change the color products and kind of use me as her guinea pig, but I wasn't crazy about that. But with Sophia, she lets me keep my same style and color each time I go in. No experiments or switching out products. I love her consistency with always getting it right every time. But I also wanted to say that I find the other stylists in the salon to be quite friendly too. There is always friendly conversation and warm heartedness towards me from them too. I enjoy my time when I'm there. I so appreciate this place. No pretentiousness, fair prices, and excellent services. Also, they're never pushy about selling me products I don't need...but I often DO buy nice products from them since Aveda is one of my faves! Also, I must say that I am super impressed with their mask-on policy where they care about their customers keeping safe from COVID. I know some folks may not like this protocol they still stick with, but I am grateful, as I am a caregiver during the day and need to keep the elders in my life safe. ;-)
