Ended up at Takitos to watch a World Cup match as many other places were filled up and this was the only spot available. We were a party of about 8 adults and 10 kids. They were more than accommodating. We first started outside and they graciously let us move inside as it was so hot. Their menu had a lot of specials but for some reason they said they weren't honoring the specials during the World Cup match. Hmm. Anyways I ended up ordering the Original Tostadas as Pastor. The tostada were nice and loaded. It came with a side of beans and rice. Everything was tasty and I'm sure great for soaking up some alcohol it would be even better. I wasn't drinking so my sober review was that it was good but not amazing. It's overall a small place that seems to cater more for drinking and they even had hookahs. None of which are kid friendly. I would say the food was above average, I ended up getting the quesadillas and my friend end up getting the tacos. she said her tacos were okay, they were a little warm and she did get a margarita and her margarita was super watery. The service could have been better it was only one person serving but then again they were not as busy but she probably checked up on us atleast once, once she handed us our food. The beans and rice came in a small styrofoam cup..like a really small cup. $16 for 3 tacos is way too much for me but we are not from here. Definitely not authentic and couldn't finish my food. After bar hopping with some family members, we always seem to make our way to this spot. We order the the chips with guacamole and usually, if we're really hungry, we'll order a chicken quesadilla. Here's what I love about this place: The food is really good. The guac seems like its always fresh and they serve you A LOT! The bag of chips normally run out before you get through half of the dip, but it's so delicious that you have to go ask for another bag to finish what you started haha. The quesadilla is flavorful and it's stuffed. It's a really nice portion that will leave you full before you leave. The waiters are really nice and they never waiver on their customer service, even late into the night. What could be better: Sometimes the dining area cleanliness lacks sometimes but I'm guessing that's due to the location and the high traffic of people trailing in and out from bars and clubs located directly next to the place. After a day at the Hollywood beach, and craving some Mexican food, we stopped over at the Hollywood Blvd Circle area late afternoon to grab a bite to eat and found Takitos. They were quite yummy and packed a decent punch! Chips and salsa was good - nice spicy levels/options. A friend had the fajitas which came out nice and sizzling hot! I had the three tacos platter with steak - seasoned well, delicious! The platter came with rice and beans, and the tacos were fully loaded with cheese, sour cream and guac. I'd say for the quantity and taste it was a good value. Alas, I removed a star when it came time for the dessert. Service was very friendly throughout our time there, however, when I showed our waitress my Yelp Check-in offer for a free flan, she acted like she didn't understand what I was saying (her half-English and my half-Spanish was working perfectly throughout the whole meal!!). Then she kept denying that the offer was for their restaurant even though I showed her the check-in and it had the TAKITOS name on the offer! "Thanks for checking in to Takitos Restaurant! Here's a little something to show their appreciation" !?!? Well, I didn't feel too appreciated and kinda brought me down from the food/drink euphoria. Nothing like having a good buzz ruined! Great late night spot for vibes and people watching! This was around 1:30a on a Sunday. I figured tacos would be quick so I sat at the bar. First - affordable drinks! I haven't seen drinks priced at $8/$9 in a while LOL and the Piña Colada was huge! I ordered a chicken fajita quesadilla which was tasty (not so much as leftovers) and the rice and refried beans were good but kiddie portioned. With the Tekila Bar attached, there was great music and dancing. Downside - the service was questionable. I started with one girl who was behind the bar and took my order - then as the night progressed she kept ignoring me and having one of the servers from the floor come take care of me. Lunch today was so disappointing, I'm taking the time to write this, in hopes the owners will read it and make some changes. The food, the cocktails, and the service all need work. The bartender/waitress was nice, but not a good bartender, and not nearly attentive enough. She's the front of the house, the point of contact, the eyes and ears of the restaurant. The mojito she made was a huge, muddled, watery fishbowl of a drink, with way too much drink mix and way too much (melted) ice. It looked like a dirty green fish-tank, not a cocktail. We didn't want to bust her chops and send it back, but she should have noticed that my wife didn't drink ANY of it. (We were one of only two tables in service at the time.) She should've also noticed that we didn't eat that $6.50 side of guacamole. WAY too salty. Hurt your mouth salty. The fish tacos were decent, and the veggie burrito was OK (but weird - it was primarily filled with half-cooked green peppers.) The little side dishes of yellow rice and beans were nice. The three house-made hot sauces were great. Halfway through lunch, I noticed there was a handwritten sign behind the bar advertising for kitchen help. They could use it. I wonder if the owner has ever seen Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares, because I suspect everything Ramsay teaches on the show applies to this restaurant. I appreciate that COVID times are very tough on restaurants, but Takitos needs to up their game, not cut corners, or focus on gimmicks. I'll take a well-mixed normal-sized cocktail over a giant-sized crappy cocktail any day of the week.
