I visited Guru with some of my girlfriends after our intended revolving sushi spot was closed for the day. Lucky us, there are a few options around the city and we landed at Guru. Located downtown, garage parking is available but comes at a cost. I will say, be sure that you exit through the renovated staircase/elevator from the garage because I had the sketchiest exit after going to the wrong door, lol. Guru is situated on a busy corner that sees lots of foot traffic and auto traffic, so when we went inside and saw that it was really busy, I wasn't surprised. I was quickly greeted by the young ladies at the front and taken to a large table for my friends and I. I was so happy to see that table as my girlfriends and I have visited revolving sushi spaces before and struggled to be sat together. The conveyor belt was constantly serving up different dishes that were preceded by note cards labeling the menu item. See something you like? Just grab it from the belt. Guru also operates using a tablet ordering system, allowing guests to browse and pick their options directly. I also use the latter option, as it's always nice to know/feel that it's been freshly prepped. I just wish that there were at least 2 tablets provided to our large party, but we didn't take the time to request a second and obviously made it work. I went for a few different dishes, but my favorites were the tuna tartare and the sexy boy rolls. The tuna tartare portion was massiveeee and so fresh, there were so many chunks of tuna and avocado. I couldn't even finish it but I could eat that every day. The sexy boy roll was delicious and perfect for those who love spice. Service was good as well, although we kept to ourselves for the most part. When we needed something, it was easy to call our server over using the tablet and poof! They appeared. I have mixed feelings about this place. I wasn't expecting a revolving sushi spot in Atlanta, so my curiosity led me to try it. We arrived around 7 PM and were seated immediately; however, it did noticeably get busier and busier as we dined. There's a conveyor belt, where all the plates are $3.50. You'll also receive an iPad, on which you can order other items at different price points. I didn't interact much with the people working there, other than being seated and then checking out. The tables were clean, and there were cute figurines displayed throughout the restaurant. Orders from the iPad arrive in a little speed train directly to your table on a different level of the belt. FOOD: I was underestimating the quality of Atlanta's fish. It was pretty good, especially considering it's from a convenient revolving sushi spot. The slabs of fish on the nigiri were thick and soft. My biggest qualm was the rice. No way was that typical sushi rice; it lacked that sticky texture and slight vinegary taste. Instead, it was unseasoned, hard, and fell apart easily. How does a sushi joint mess up rice? TLDR// This place will quickly satisfy a sushi craving, but if you're looking for really good sushi, look elsewhere. Hope this place improves its rice. read more

One of our favorite places to go in midtown. Great for lunch and dinner. They keep the belt stocked so it never takes long at all to get what you want. Good sushi and too much fun and a great value to boot. The booths are very IKEA looking, and include a side drawer with extra napkins, individually wrapped forks and chop sticks. Our was attentive and available, but could also be called to the table on the accompanying iPad which also allowed for direct, special order items to be sent to the kitchen from the table and then delivered from the kitchen by miniature high speed train straight to our booth. There are theee revolving conveyers delivering sushi on a plate, usually two nigiri or three roll slices per plate and each plates is $3.49. Your plates will be counted and tallied to the final bill. This is just like the sushi places one might see in Tokyo near every rail station for the busy "salaryman" to grab a quick bite to eat before commuting. It is a very quick service. Four if us were stuffed by the time our lunch was finished and for $108, and that included feeding two 26 year old young men. We also special ordered eel nigiri, yellowtail nigiri, Ikura gunkan, mochi ice cream, and some yellowtail rolls. The portions on the nigiri were generous and fresh cuts. The same with the roll slices. I expected the yellowtail roll to have some scallion, but it did not. One healthy, big plus was the offering of hot lemon water, enjoyed by my wife and two guests. Conveyor sushi has the reputation of being more akin to a "fast food" because of the quick nature of dining in this manner and also the chef is not trying to wow you with knife skills or elegance. However, we were very impressed with the variety and freshness and availability. This design is much preferred to a higher priced all you can eat sushi option. Plus, it is immensely fun to watch the conveyor bring the items along and each is covered by an individual protective cover to preserve the quality of the product from any potential outside contaminant. We had zero complaints. The dessert options were also wide in variety and proportioned well for sharing. A great spot for a fun meal, and a good value. read more

Clean with fast service and convenient location. This is NOT a place for people who enjoy nigiri. Come for the option to try different types of rolls, but none of them are particularly good. Ultimately, it's revolving sushi and never going to have amazing quality. I think the other option in Midtown is better for nigiri (and fresh wasabi!) but otherwise this is a fun place to bring your friends who haven't tried revolving sushi for the novelty. read more

Welp I dropped the ball on this one because I didn't take any pictures but I will say the place was clean, service was good, and the food was great too. Each plate was $3.49 the fish to rice ratio for the price was way more than fair. I had salmon nigiri, and something called the peach roll it had kani and shrimp tempura it was very dry to bland to say the least. Also the Tan Tan Ramen (Spicy Pork Broth) just tasted like Tonkotsu Ramen with chilli oil topped on it nothing special there. The experience was nice but I would definitely not return. This sushi spot is a must-visit when you're in the mood for a revolving sushi experience. The sushi itself was decent, not the best I've had, but it was reasonably priced. I managed to get about five plates for around $20. The staff was incredibly friendly, and the unique atmosphere of the sushi revolving around you on the conveyor belt was a memorable experience. If you'd like to order something not on the belt, it's promptly delivered to you on a personalized shuttle. This place was nice but I wouldn't recommend for vegetarians. While they have vegetarian options, they accidentally served us pork dumplings when we ordered vegetarian dumplings. I haven't had meat in ten years so it was a disappointing mix-up. The server was nice and compensated the dumplings but it is unfortunately a pretty big issue for me. The service was quick - they seat you and then you pull sushi off the conveyor belt. If you order something not on the conveyor belt they send it to you on a mini speed train. It is really quick and fun! The ambience was also quite nice. It was well lit and inviting. The sushi was slightly below average taste-wise. If we lived in the neighborhood and needed something quick to eat we might stop by again, but would not go out of our way to stop by. read more
