Today was my 3rd of 4th time here as it is the first place our granddaughter ate sushi. She loves it but she would also love gas station sushi. I am not much of a sushi snob but have a few key indicators of quality; how spicy is the wasabi?, how fresh is the fish? And how are the Nigiri fish portions? This establishment scores low on all three. I was tasked to pick out our rolls after we got a rainbow roll for our granddaughter. Nearly all of their "specialty" rolls had cream cheese or "spicy tuna". First, I am never going to eat cream cheese in a fish roll. Second, chili powder is often used in minced fish to cover up off flavors. I ordered another rainbow roll, an Alaska roll, and a Shadow Bridge roll. We never did receive the 2nd rainbow roll, the salmon on top of the Alaska Roll was small squares with a sesame oil that tasted a tad rancid, and the Shadow Bridge was a HUGE pile of fried onions with a roll underneath so it was heated. Tried the new sushi spot Sushi N Pop for lunch and really liked it. When you walk in, someone seats you right away. I got there around 12 and was seated super fast, there's a lot of seating inside. The waitress came by quickly to take our drink order and then our food. I ordered a spicy tuna roll, and it was really good. I love a good spicy tuna, and this one actually had a nice kick. I also tried the spicy crab roll. It wasn't very spicy, but it tasted fresh, which I liked. I tried the Sexy Cowboy roll too. It was just okay for me. It has shrimp tempura, cream cheese, and crab inside, topped with spicy tuna, avocado, and eel sauce. The best roll by far was the Hot Night That one was delicious. It has shrimp tempura, avocado, cucumber, and crab inside, topped with spicy tuna, eel sauce, and chili sesame sauce. The flavor was really good, and I was very happy with it. Togo Staff is amazing! I was greeted promptly. I order a Spider Max- no cucumber, no Ginger only wasabi. I did not check my order (next time I will) but I got no wasabi, and cucumber in my roll. I called asked if I could stop be after work to just get wasabi. The lady that answered said they will make another and sorry for the mistake. Just call when I am on my way. So I did.... I placed an order for two salmon skin hand rolls, a spicy tuna cut roll, a spicy yellowtail cut roll and a teriyaki chicken bowl . I asked for extra, extra ginger as I like to eat ginger with my rolls. Their service is terrible, it takes forever to get your food, even on slow days. We ordered food during a concert at the stadium and it took over an hour to get a to go order. I chose the superstar roll , I was pretty bummed cause it said ponzu sauce was on the roll which is my favorite but it was no where to be found . So I had to give them one less star for no ponzu and it also says you get miso and salad and I only got the miso. The nigiri was not bad, fresh at least . My California roll was basic and although they forgot to give me ginger initially, it was good once they brought it out. My least favorite thing was the tempura ice cream.
