Whole Wheat Sesame Bagel with Tofu Vegetable Spread
    Ruby C.

Finally checked Tal Bagels off my list. Overall it is a very mediocre bagel spot. I might not go back again. Their 1st Ave location is spacious with many indoor seatings and a restroom. The service was lacking as I had to remind our server a few times I wanted my bagels to be toasted. We thought it would be a great spot to work or study. The bagel texture is soft, fluffy and flat. Yet both sesame bagels are not fully seasoned with toasted sesame. BEC bagel tastes standard. Tofu veggie spread is my staple at any bagel shops. This one is quite bland, yet it has a bold tofu flavor.

Used to be my favorite bagel place on the UES but the service is SO slow, prices are overly experience and quality has gone down hill. Don't order the sunflower bagel unless you want a plain bagel with 15 sunflower seeds on it. Will be going anywhere else moving forward.

Not the fresh bagels around, but you may like them if you like a harder crust. For me a great bagel is one in which you don't have to fight it when you try to bite off a chunk of it and has a really soft chewy interior. also, I've learned that fresh bagels should not be toasted, but bagels that have been sitting out for a while. Should be toasted to give it some of that chewiness and take away that dryer, stale, white bread flavor. My friend and I got the same thing, scallion cream cheese on an everything bagel except I got it on toasted and he got it toasted and the toasted one by far was much better. If you come here, definitely get your bagel toasted. It will please you if you like a harder shell, and the toasted aspect, gives you back some of that springiness. Still nowhere near as good as a nearby bagel shop, but I will give this place credit for having really affordable prices.

Tal Bagels is a chain bagel shop but nonetheless I always enjoy the bagels and coffee. They don't skimp on the cream cheese and the bagels are fresh baked daily. I know what the bagels and cream cheese taste like so it's a safe alternative when I'm in this neighborhood. They are really busy at this location. I'm glad I found a table. I'm eating half my bagel and saving half. Customer Service is typical not super friendly but they take care of business. I'm recommending you try Tal Bagels. They also have a huge variety of food selections. I'm addicted to the bagels! Like I said the customer service is hit or miss. I give the employees a friendly attitude so I usually don't have a problem. If they're busy you have to be patient. If you get it to go, I would check before you leave to be sure your order is correct. That's my drill no matter where I do business!

Don't know how this can be called an everything bagel. It's tasty, but service was nothing special and vibes were just fine.

What do you do when you gotta run to LaGuardia but wanna get some good food? You stop by a bagel shop. I didn't really know what to expect (or if I should expect anything) before walking in, but first thing I noticed was how simple the menu was. You just pick your bagel and whichever toppings or spread you want. It was really simple and I just got a toasted everything bagel with lox spread. There's something about a New York bagel you can't beat, it was crunchy and the amount of spread was absolutely perfect. The inside had plenty of seating and it wasn't too loud, meaning that this is a great place to spend a morning!

Had one of the worst bagels of my life today. Got a sesame bagel with olive cream cheese. The bagel was tough and overall poor quality. The worst part however was the cream cheese. As I was eating my bagel, I nearly cracked a tooth on a olive pit that was left in my cream cheese. Then, I was chewing and felt something that resembled twine. I am so grossed out. I don't think I will ever come here again and wish I could get a refund. However, they are not very friendly at Tal's so I don't even think I would get that. Wait the extra time and get a bagel at Ess-A-Bagel 5 min away. That's what I usually do, but was in a rush today. NEVER AGAIN.

Mmmm.......nothing like a warm everything bagel with melty butter on it after a nice run through the neighborhood. Along with a hot cup of coffee and I was a happy man. I had no problems with the staff here compared to others here lately. Got my feed on and fueled up. As with all their locations good selection of bagels and spreads.

Pickled veggies, fresh falafel, the works. The waffle was also delicious and it had an addicting maple-butterscotch sauce that kept us coming back (I wish I ordered one just for myself it was that good). The dining room was extremely hot, and there didn't appear to be any air conditioning, which made it uncomfortable throughout the meal. The food also took quite a while to arrive. I ordered a tequila mule, but it was lacking flavor and was underwhelming. For my entrée, I ordered the steak medium well, but it came out medium rare. Despite being undercooked, the steak was surprisingly tough and chewy, and it did not seem like a quality cut of meat considering the price. The waiter was friendly and provided good service, which was the highlight of the visit. However, due to the uncomfortable atmosphere, slow food service, disappointing drink, and poor-quality steak, I would not recommend dining here.

It was our first time eating at a Friedman's location. It had a nice diner feel to it, with a mix of booths and tables. The brunch menu has a variety of breakfast items, salads, sandwiches and burgers, starters, and entrees (fish tacos, grain bowl, fried chicken). I like that several of the items are naturally gluten free, and some can be made gluten free by request. We decided to go with three breakfast items from the brunch menu: I got the shakshuka, my sister got the Nova Benny, and we got the lemon ricotta pancakes to share. All 3 dishes were great. The shashuka came with grilled ciabatta, perfect for dipping into the sunny side eggs and tomato sauce. My sister loved that the poached eggs and smoked salmon of the Nova Benny came on top of a crispy potato latke. The pancakes were fluffy and the lemon ricotta and lemon zest elevated their flavor. Our server was friendly and attentive, and he asked us if we had any allergies when he took our order. He came by several times to check on us and refill water.
