Heard about this place on TikTok so we had to try it while on vacation. Came here around 10:30am on a Thursday morning. Second person in line, but by the time we were waiting for our bagels, it got busy quick! A line formed right behind us. My daughter had the rainbow bagel with birthday cake cream. She thought the rainbow colors were cool. It tasted sweet. I had the bacon and eggs on a plan toasted bagel. I really liked it. It was good. My son had the steakwich (I think?) and he really liked it. The bagels were very filling so we all had half of it saved for later. I went to Liberty Bagels for the first time when some friends came from out of town. Of course, they wanted some classic NYC bagels. Why not?! This spot ended up being chosen. I ordered the meat, egg and cheese with bacon on a toasted everything bagel. It was pretty great. Definitely something I would recommend if you're craving a satisfying breakfast sandwich. My friends went with the classic nova special, also on a toasted everything bagel. They really enjoyed theirs too. One thing to note is that they give a cash discount, so it's worth bringing some if you have it. The line was pretty long and a bit unorganized, but I guess it's part of the experience. I've never seen so many cream cheese flavors before, both sweet and savory. I will say though, they put an ungodly amount of cream cheese on the bagel. Finally had a chance to try the place that is home of the rainbow bagels as this has been on my list for a while. Of course, I got the rainbow bagel w/ bacon,egg, and cheese. Being my first time visiting NY, this was a must stop! There was a line out the door in the middle of winter but it was so worth it! Don't get discouraged with the line, they have such a great system in place to get the line going. The price is worth it for the type of food you get. The sandwiches are well proportioned and super tasty. Once you order at the counter, you get your food pretty quickly. I got a sausage, egg, and cheese on an everything bagel (my go-to) and decided to be a little crazy and add a hash brown inside. The bagel was toasted on the outside and soft/chewy on the inside. This location is quite busy and the line inside can get long (~25min) on weekends given it's close to Central Park and there is little seating inside. Highly recommend walking a block over to the park to sit. Having a bagel on a park bench is something truly special. Pro tip: get the fresh squeezed OJ! It's incredible and so worth it. read more

So I actually haven't made it to the store. We door dashed it to our hotel because we were running out of time during our visit to NY. The bagels were really good! The cream cheese were great! We tried strawberry & jalapeno and both were really good! Man do they pile it on the bagel! I always feel like it's way too much cream cheese and wish they would just give us less & charge less. Not bad, not great. Liberty bagels has always had a lot of hype but I don't see this being any better than the bagel shop closest to you. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here. The bagel wasn't fresh, but was toasted. It came with a ton of cream cheese if you like that. The egg everything was super chewy but my sister got the regular everything bagel and it was better. You order at the counter and they call your name to pick it up, so service is pretty standard. There is seating inside, so that's a plus and when I went, there were plenty of seats. My wife knew of Liberty Bagel from social media so when we were visiting NYC, she wanted to check them out. As expected, there was a long line, but it moved decently enough that we didn't wait as long as I had originally thought (though it did take over 30 minutes from start to finish). They have a system in place to do their best to move people along, but as there's lots of people ordering many different things, sometimes it just takes a long time for orders to come through. Not to mention it was clear a lot of people were ordering delivery because the store was a revolving door of food delivery people coming in and leaving with large bags of food. As far as the bagel goes, it was great. It was dense but not in a bad way. The texture was great, the toast was just right for my liking, and it was filling enough to get me through the morning. However, the rainbow colors of the liberty bagel and rainbow bagel we tried was just that: color. There as nothing extra special about those two bagels compared to other shops. You're going there for the Instagramable nature of the item. Honestly, if you are just in the mood for a good bagel, there are other options in the city that will have shorter lines. However, if you're here for fun and unique bagels, then Liberty Bagel is definitely worth checking out. The interior of the shop is small and tight (much like most places in NYC). There will be a lot of weaving in & out of people waiting for their food or waiting to order. If you are planning on eating your food there, good luck. There is very minimal seating inside as they need every square inch they can get to accommodate the crowds. I would honestly just plan on taking your food to go. There's plenty of places nearby to enjoy your meal such as Central Park which is a block or two away. So, would I avoid Liberty Bagel? Absolutely not. But would I wait in another line when I'm back in the city? Also probably not. It was a fun experience, my wife loved it, but I don't feel the need to rush back. read more

Came here at 8am on a Monday and placed an online order for pick up. Placed an order 5 minutes before we got there and our bagels were already ready for us. I went with a blueberry bagel with plain cream cheese and my boyfriend got the bacon, egg and cheese with scallion cream cheese on an onion bagel. Blueberry bagels are my favorite, so I was super excited to try one from New York. I'd say it was decent, but it felt like the bagel had been sitting for a while and wasn't fresh. With the variety that liberty bagels had, it's expected that every bagel isn't going to come out hot and fresh, but I think it would have elevated my experience had it been fresh. I opted for a toasted bagel, and wish it was toasted a bit more. There was a generous serving of cream cheese and got nice and warm in between the bagel. This place was packed! After we waited in line for a while, I decided to place an order online. But my food was done just a little bit before the rest of my party was. I should've thought of it sooner. They have so many different bagels, and so many different combinations of cream cheese. Someone in my party got the rainbow bagel with the rainbow cream cheese. This one hurts to write because Liberty Bagels used to be my absolute favorite--the best egg bagel I've ever had. But yesterday was a big disappointment. We ordered egg, sesame, and salt bagels, and all three were dry, stale, and dense. We ate them there immediately, so this wasn't a timing issue. The staff member couldn't tell us which bagels were freshest and didn't try--just "I don't know," with attitude. Liberty has expanded a lot and leaned into the rainbow bagel hype, but based on yesterday's experience, the quality has gone downhill. This was also the first time I didn't take bagels home from here, which says a lot. I'm giving this a 2/5 only because the cream cheese is still excellent--but that should be second to the bagel itself, not the highlight. I hope this was just an off day. read more
