We went during the week. They have a happy hour 5 to 7 with small bites and drinks, but we just missed that the food was excellent. The service was great. The drinks were very unique and wonderful. We had the sauté stirfry cabbage, which was incredible. The fried crabcakes were delicious perfectly chewy and tangy The pork belly, curry and red sauce was incredible. Somehow it did not get soggy The clams in Marcela sauce were also amazing with a hint of a sweet sauce to it Don't miss out on getting the dry noodle salad. We had a good dinner at Talat Market. This is a hip "New Thai" restaurant that has been listed in the Michelin Guide since its inception in Atlanta in 2023. There were some hits and misses, but overall, I recommend this place. The restaurant is located in the Summerhill neighborhood, just south of downtown Atlanta, near the old Braves stadium (now Center Parc Stadium). It's four blocks south of Little Bear, a Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant (also good and I recommend it). There's a free dedicated parking lot on site, but it's small (only 15 spots). There's plenty of free street parking in the residential area surrounding the restaurant. This place is popular. Book your reservations on Resy. If you have an American Express card, check your benefits. For example, Platinum card holders get up to $100 in statement credits each quarter on eligible purchases with Resy (Talat is eligible). We came with a group of seven on a Saturday night at 6:30. We ordered a bunch of dishes and shared. I describe the cuisine as "New Thai" because it's not traditional Thai. It's like a New American version of Thai cuisine. Talat describes the cuisine as "the union of Thai culinary tradition and Georgia's seasonal bounty." I like the variety of dinnerware they use. The Thaijuino was served on a wooden tray with a wooden mixing spoon. Each Grilled Oyster was served atop a bed of salt. As a fan of martinis, I really enjoyed the Super Cold Martini. Strong, smooth, well-made. Hits: Foodwise, my favorites included the Snapper Sangwa, Grilled Oysters, Fruit Salad, Crispy Rice Salad, Phat Pak, and Chicken Red Curry. Portions were kind of small. The Chicken Rice Soup was also good and reminded me of Chinese West Lake Beef Soup. Misses: The steak in the Grilled Beef Salad was quite tough and chewy. The Whole Flounder was crispy, bony, and hard to eat. The desserts were okay. I liked the Apple Sorbet, but the Custard was too salty. Service and atmosphere: Our server was Leo and he was great. Good service. The hostess was nice too. The vibe is trendy and laid back; more on the casual side. Talat has both indoor and outdoor seating. A colleague enthusiastically recommended it, so we headed to Summerhill. The vibe was a local neighborhood spot doing a very convincing impression of an upscale hippie, the kind of place where the staff seems genuinely happy to see you and not just trained to act like it. The music couldn't settle on an identity, swinging between Thai pop and Roxy Music like a radio being fought over by two people, each with strong feelings about it. Apparently, the menu changes constantly, they cook whatever the market handed them that morning and figure out the rest later. What we ordered had nothing to do with what their website claimed we'd be ordering. Yet, the bartender still produced a gin and tonic from some earlier, possibly retired, incarnation of the drink list. There's an open kitchen, so you get to watch them prepare your food. It was busy, but not chaotic. Plates came up, got fussed over until whoever was cooking decided the thing was finally worthy. Then a bell rang. If the wait staff dawdled, the bell rang again, harder. Our food never took long. It arrived in tidy intervals, like the kitchen had a metronome nobody else could hear. Cooks would swap out now and then, and whoever stepped in just slid into the gap like they'd been doing it the whole time. It was one of the better-run kitchens I've seen. I've eaten a great deal of Thai food in this city, most of it okay in the specific way that lets you order the same forgettable thing again next Tuesday. This was not that. Every dish arrived doing five things at once, sweet and salty and crunchy and soft. The moment I walked in, I was taken by the amazing mural artistry, decor, upbeat mood of Thai bops playing, as well as the scent of lemongrass and a warm simmering of something delicious. I enjoyed the Mini Tini, stir fried clams, and snapper. They also surprised me with a happy hour oyster + a slightly spicy-citrusy mignonette. Scrumptious. The bartender (Preston, I believe) was incredibly helpful in walking me through gluten friendly options and confirming that they do not have a separate fryer for gluten allergies. The ambiance is so cute--small, quaint, creative, and thoughtful. Even the silverware and glassware were unique and added to the vibe. I had a mini martini and WOW... hands down one of the best martinis I've ever had. I knew I was drinking liquor, but by the time you swallow, this wave of flavor comes through that completely changes the game. I was excited to try Talat Market after all the glowing recommendations. Seated quickly, service fine, and the little martinis started things off right. The oysters at happy hour pricing were cold, fresh, and probably the best value of the night. From there, it slipped. The crispy rice salad had nice flavor but was small and felt incomplete. The fried shrimp were few and overcooked. The hanger steak salad was excellent and easily the best bite, but blink and you'd miss the portion. The green curry was the real disappointment: $38 for a watery bowl with overcooked beef and barely enough rice to share. The quarter chicken with papaya salad rounded things out on a very average note. The server never once asked how we liked anything, only whether we wanted another round of drinks. I felt like I was experiencing real Thai food. We ordered the beef jerky, crispy rice salad, red curry, and chicken. Everything was delicious and well seasoned. Came here for a date night and we enjoyed the experience! Talat market is pretty small, but has decent parking and I didn't feel like we were too cramped inside. Our waiter was super nice and food came out very quickly after we ordered! We decided to split the sliced nuts, crispy rice salad, sticky rice, and chicken. I thought the nuts were a good appetizer and I LOVED the chicken and the sauces! I think it's definitely a must get. Unfortunately I ended up not really liking the salad since it was very lemongrass forward and I think it tastes like soap lol, but my bf enjoyed it. We visited Talat Market this weekend for dinner. It was our second visit. The food is Thai-oriented as described, with some inventive takes. We sampled the raw oysters, which were chilled nicely and tasty; they were served with a Thai-style mignonette. Our favorites were the crudo, raw beef with rice chips, crab fritters, crispy rice salad, and shrimp curry. The seared scallops were good but not inspiring. The stir-fry with cabbage was tasty again, but not a standout. They had available dry-aged smoked rib-eye that sounded great, but we wanted to focus on their core menu. The rib eye offering is served family style with cuts of 25oz & 29 oz. It is a bit of a splurge if you go that route, so ask about pricing. They have a fun drink list. We sampled the super cold martini, the Black Lotus, and the Royal Jelly. All were pleased with their drinks, with the royal jelly being the standout. They have beer, wine, and champagne as well. SO SO SO GOOD, I can't recommend enough and can't wait to go back!! I've been wanting to come here for a while, especially since they got a Michelin Guide mention. Definitely make reservations (my friend and I were able to snag a late reservation at 9p, so check well in advance!). They have a small parking lot and we were able to find parking, but there's also plenty of street and parallel parking as well. Inside, I loved the decor and it totally transforms and takes you to a new experience. Our waitstaff was super nice and gave us great recs on how to navigate the menu and what their favorite drinks were. I had the Sharpie Mustache which was super interesting but I loved the story behind its creation. We ended up getting the crispy rice salad, red curry with beef, a pork dish, and octopus. Our server told us that one of the chef's mom was actually in town and in the kitchen on curry duty which was super cool. The crispy rice salad lived up to the hype and this is definitely a can't miss. It was so fresh and herby and I loved the chili jam in it. They have a smallish parking lot considering how busy it is but there is plenty of street parking, you will definitely find a spot close by without having to parallel park or anything. Service was very good, our server gave helpful recommendations and was very attentive. For drinks I did the southside sizzle which was good but not my favorite, and then our server recommended me their white blend which I loved. My husband got the green drink which was soooo good. We split the crispy rice salad which was my favorite thing we ate. Great flavor, fresh ingredients, rice was a nice texture. My husband got the steak and sticky rice which he really liked. I ordered the pork and shrimp meatball soup which was so flavorful and very very filling, don't be concerned about the soup not being enough for an entree. Talat is an underrated icon. Personally one of my favorite thai spots In atlanta. It's a casually elevated restaurant with amazing food and cocktails. Most recently I went during the middle of the week and the energy was amazing. They offer great specials and host thoughtful communal events around food. Talat Market embodies a 5 star restaurant (And I don't give out 5 stars often) This place has been on my radar for a while and I finally was able to make it in, and let me say I am so glad I did. Words can't describe how amazing the octopus was. It was so tender it's almost as if it melted in my mouth also the smokiness of the octopus made it just riveting. Unfortunately, the food, which is the most important part in my eyes, was irredeemable. First, this place has an aura of fine dining. The dishes are well plated, the portions are small, the flavors are unique and intriguing. Unfortunately, it's quite expensive for a "large" plate. Each dish was easily $20-40 and barely enough to share. No one left feeling full, but forked over a good $35-40. Second, the dishes didn't taste good. If these were the best dishes ever but the portions small and the price high, I would've stomached the experience and reserved it for special occasions. Unfortunately, the curry was watery and tasteless, the crispy rice salad was mostly air and leaves, the fried pork belly was dry and hard and the fried squid was too chewy. Hands down one of my favorites in ATL. Tucked away in the Summerhill neighborhood is one of the best Thai places I have ever been to. It is a small restaurant with only a few tables inside, but there are also tables outside. It was too hot that day so we were lucky enough to snag one of the indoor tables. One thing to note about this place is their impeccable service - all hands were on deck, which I appreciate. Our group of 3 ordered a bunch of dishes to share - crab salad, papaya salad, shrimp and pork red curry, grilled chicken, and beef shank beef curry. Crab salad: I didn't read and thought this was the crab rice salad. Nevertheless, it was delicious with tender pieces of crab in coconut sauce Papaya salad: has a nice spice, a very textural dish with the added pork rinds and peanuts. I definitely recommend mixing this up before digging in so that you get every flavor component. Best eaten with sticky rice Shrimp and pork curry: Ended up getting this dish for free because they served us the wrong curry. It was a mistake that we appreciated since it was served with big pieces of shirmp and small bits of porky goodness Grilled chicken: probably my favorite! it was served with two different sauces but the baste used for the chicken was so flavorful. It was a small dish but definitely packed a punch on flavor Beef shank green curry: my other favorite! beef shank was tender served with fried eggplant and fried okra. It comes fried with a delicious sauce on top. It is a whole fish so yes, there are bones. (4/5) - Crispy rice salad ($18): lettuce, red chili jam, peanut, crispy rice. I really enjoyed the crispy rice in the salad, it added a nice texture to it. (3/5) - Pork Jowl: the pork melts in your mouth and is nicely seasoned. Also comes with a side of their fish sauce type sauce - so good! (4/5) - Crab claws: It was about 6 pieces of tiny crab claws for $6. When I say tiny, literally half a bite. The green sauce that came on it though was amazing. (4/5 for the sauce) - Steak: the only steak option under the proteins list on the menu - came with this garlic aioli that I never would've guessed was garlic, tasted a bit bitter? The steak was cooked to a medium rare which is what we wanted, but overall the entrée itself wasn't something that I was wowed by. 100% recommend. Came to Atlanta for a work trip and this restaurant was 15 minutes away from my hotel. Ambiance was great and not the mention the Fruit Salad I got was so refreshing and so good!!! I came here to celebrate a friends birthday and had no idea how much of a gem this restaurant was! We had ten people and two of pretty much every dish was enough for the table and everything was excellent, so much so that it was hard to pick a favorite. If you're in the Summerhill area, do yourself a favor and get food and cocktails at this establishment and you would be hard pressed to be disappointed. Talat Market is located in the Summerhill neighborhood. The place is cute and I love the indoor/outdoor patio space. Service was great and the food was delicious. Def try the salads. Menu tends to change but I'll definitely be back because I'm sold on the flavors. Amazing cocktails as well. Parking: street parking. read more

Flavors were good but expensive for what you get. We ordered the green curry and there was just a small bowl with hardly any meet in it for around $30. The menu is small, not problem with that, but was hoping in more variety in the food offered. The whole flounder was probably the best thing we had. We also were seated at a table right underneath the AC vent and had water dripping on us. The tables didn't have too much space in between so we couldn't really move around. read more
