Paya Thai was wonderful. Parking was easy and we were able to pay through a barcode in the parking lot. The restaurant is gorgeous! We sat at the bar until the remaining guests in our party arrived. While at the bar, I had a Mai cocktail. It consisted of reposado tequila and roasted pineapple. The flavors were well balanced. The menu is quite extensive and it was hard deciding what I wanted. For my appetizer I chose the duo which included shrimp rolls and springs rolls. They were both very delicious and fried to perfection. For my entree, I decided on the pad Thai with shrimp. Although I enjoyed it, it wasn't the best pad Thai I've had. Everyone enjoyed the food overall. Customer service was great and the food came out fast. I'm looking forward to returning. read more

I wanted to try this place after I saw it the other day after a disappointing meal at brown bag seafood and I'm so glad I went back today. Lovely from start to finish. Patio was cool and shaded. It is so pretty inside of this restaurant! The food is a solid 4, but i gave it a 5 because it's beautiful. When I need/crave something spicy, I can count on Thai food because they understand heat! Service here is refreshingly chill compared to a lot of Atlanta restaurants. Our server was attentive, but not bothersome. The food was plated nicely (though, the papaya salad had a whole quarter wedge of lettuce on the side and I really didn't know what to do with that). My favorite was a braised meat dish - it had mashed potato on the side and avocado and gold flakes on top. I've never seen avocado on top of a mashed potato + meat dish, but it worked! Paya Thai Kitchen has a good, diverse menu that still respects classic Thai dishes. As someone who's Lao, this was a place my parents genuinely enjoyed, which says a lot. I ordered the ribeye steak khao soi -- really well done and a standout dish. The only miss was that it didn't include the pickled mustard greens, which usually help balance the richness. I also think fresh shallots would've worked better than the fried shallots, which tasted pre‑bought. Overall, solid food and a menu with range. Definitely worth checking out. read more

Coming into my dining experience here, idk why but I had ZERO expectations because I'd never heard about Paya or seen it or been to it, and I'm very happy to say that it exceeded my expectations and left a VERY positive impression on me! I was looking for a spot in West Midtown that was lively, yummy, and could accommodate a larger party with a reservation in advance and this was IT! Perfect selection. Our service was fantastic: polite, prompt, and not rushed. It allowed up to stretch out our dinner and enjoy the whole evening!!! The food, especially the appetizers were special, great value, and worth it! The entres we also loved, but WARNING, If you're a spice (heat) fan, you can go UP in your spice-level request because unlike most Thai places, I'd say they take it easy on the spice level you order. (Oooof these'll be my famous last words before I get absolutely wrecked ordering "Thai Hot" next time). Any way, I LOVED everything about the experience. Everything about Paya Thai was a 5 for us across the board. From the moment we walked in, the customer service was top tier, friendly, attentive, and made us feel valued as a customer. The food? Absolutely incredible. Easily some of the best Thai food I've had in a long time. Every dish was full of flavor, fresh, and just beautifully done. The drinks were just as impressive, perfectly made and a great addition to the whole experience. I also loved how diverse the menu was. There were so many unique options, all with a delicious Thai twist, which made it hard to choose....I wanted to try the whole menu! A new Thai food spot in West Midtown. The restaurant serves delicate and creative dishes and has a beautiful vibe, so it has been on my list for months. Recantly I went there twice, once by myself and the other with my friend. Overall the experiences were not bad. For the first time, I ordered the basil fried rice with shrimp and ribeye skewers. I asked the kitchen to put less salt for the fried rice and they did a good job. Plus, the shrimp was tender and the basil -- which was lightly fried, was crispy. Recommended. The ribeye skewer was really of appetizer-size lol. The meat was good but I did not like eating it with something sweet like the peanut sauce served on the side. Then I recommended the restaurant to my friend and we went there for dinner. This time I tried the Nam Tok beef salad, side roti and Tom Yum Soup w/ shrimp, while my friend got the Basil Duck and Tom Kha Soup w/ shrimp. Unlike the ribeye skewers, my beef salad was surprisingly descent in size, and the meat was tender and sauce was refreshing (spicy and sour). It was served with some raw cabbage which had a pleasant juiciness and sweetness. Both soups were good; though my friend enjoyed hisTom Kha Soup more. The Basil Duck was very salty, but not many Thai restaurants nearby feature duck dishes so you may still give it a try:) Plus, I also recommended this restaurant to some of my classmates and they enjoyed it as well. Minor nitpick on my meal ... the size of the potatoes is too large, like basically half a potato... you would be able to enjoy the flavor of the curry with the potatoes much more if the potatoes were cut smaller. I split the shrimp jeeb (3/5) and got the yellow curry with seafood (4.75/5). The shrimp jeeb were ok; I'm personally not a huge fried dumpling fan. The yellow curry was great with a generous serving of seafood (four mussels, three or four big pieces of shrimp, and two or three scallops with tons of calamari). It wasn't too sweet, like some curries, and had an excellent flavor. The restaurant was easily one of the most well decorated ones I've been too; it has an amazing ambiance (5/5)! We had an excellent server who was very kind and attentive. They have some interesting cocktails made with pandan leaves and red onions. Pandan leaf cocktails are getting pretty popular but not red onions! The red onion was an excellent cocktail for those of you that do not like sweet and might enjoy something that has a similar taste to a ginger cocktail (fresh ginger. Not that candy-like ginger you would get in a soda). The cocktails are definitely not strong and I doubt that even 5 or 6 would have gotten me drunk (I am not an alcoholic) but if you like to taste cocktails for fun this would be a nice experience. The food was very delicious. They make the food a comfortable level of spicy with "Thai hot" and will give you fresh bird chili on the side if you want more spice. Portion sizes are a little bit small in my opinion. Prices are comparable to other Thai places closer to the city of Atlanta versus a Thai restaurant in Jimmy Carter Blvd. Unfortunately I do not remember all of the names of everything we ordered but everything looked and tasted delicious. The mango with sticky rice comes with the butterfly pea rice that makes it blue. There is only one other Thai place that I know that does that so I am glad to have found another. The Thai tea crème brûlée was my favorite dessert as it has a strong tea taste. I would definitely come back here again. read more

I wish I would've known about it sooner! We came for a weekday dinner, and we're not disappointed. Once we sat down, we were able to try a couple of different wines because we couldn't really decide what we wanted and thankfully our server was really kind to us. Once we settled on our choice, we were very happy with it. The restaurant was lively, not too loud, and we could see into the kitchen, which is always a plus for my dining experience! The calamari was crispy and flavorful, and we loved the sauce on the side. I wish I remembered the name of this second appetizer because it was one of my favorites. We both ordered the ribeye steak that came with curry noodles... I'm still talking about this dish two months later and if you go and try it, you'll know why. It's so tender, the steak is seasoned so well and the noodles are Cooked to perfection and that sauce? That sauce is everything to write home about. Everyone in this restaurant is so even mannered, they were all laughing and enjoying each other's company. I could see as I looked into the kitchen how busy they were. This is by far one of the best meals i've eaten in a really long time. I spent around $130 and I felt great about it. I've been craving Thai food so when I came across this place as I was walking to Jeni's I knew I had to come back and check them out. Well that's exactly what I did not even a week later. I brought my mom here on Memorial Day to celebrate my last day of freedom before I had to return to work the next day. We didn't have a reservation but, we still were able to be seated without any issues. At first glance I thought the restaurant was beautiful, it smelled nice, and I loved the jazz music they were playing. It really tied everything together. We started off with the Thom Ka Coconut Soup (not pictured) and the Shrimp Jeeb. For our entrees we received the Shrimp Pad See Ew and the Tofu Spicy Eggplant (not pictured). I got the Thai Tea (not pictured) to drink while my mom enjoyed some hot Jasmine Tea (not pictured). For dessert I went a little crazy and ordered every one available. I got the Thai Tea Creme Brulee. It was absolutely divine! My mom got a slice of their coconut cake which she enjoyed. I got the Mango Sticky Rice to-go. I completely devoured the sticky rice as soon as I got home. It didn't stand a chance. It was probably the best sticky rice i've ever had. I'll come back to this restaurant for the sticky rice alone. We were in the West Midtown area and craving Thai food when we came across PAYA on Google. Since it's a newer restaurant, we decided to give it a try as a family, and it did not disappoint! One of my favorite things about this place is that they give you four different sauces at the table. It makes such a big difference and really enhances the flavors of the food. The calamari was excellent -- so much so that my kids asked for seconds, and we ended up ordering two! The Pad Thai was fresh and flavorful, and we also really enjoyed the garlic and black pepper beef dish. On top of that, the entire restaurant smelled amazing the moment we walked in. The only downside was the service. It felt a bit slow, and it seemed like one person was juggling hostess, bartender, and server duties, so some of our needs weren't met when the food came out. My friend and I decided to try Paya Thai for dinner. The restaurant had an intimate, cozy ambiance, and I liked the minimal, yet classy décor. The service was excellent. Our waitress was friendly, accommodating, and attentive without being intrusive throughout our dinner. For my drink, I had the Thai Iced Tea, which was creamy and not overly sweet. For appetizers, we ordered two soups: the Tom Yum Lemongrass Soup ($10) and the Tom Kha Coconut Soup ($10). They both were delicious! The Tom Yum had a citrusy kick with just the right amount of tang, while the Tom Kha was creamy and fragrant, with a coconut undertone. For my entrée, I had the Chicken Basil Fried Rice ($22), which was unfortunately underwhelming compared to other versions I've had. The ingredients were fresh, but the dish lacked the bold flavors I expected, and despite requesting it to be spicy, it arrived with little heat. May be perfect if you like Jenny's ice cream, you literally smell it the entire time on the patio. The food was just okay. I have had much better Thai food. I had the the Pad See Ew and they added some green leafy Kale or something that threw the entire dish off. We also had the fried rice that came out white ish with absolutely no taste. There's a long booth style bench in the middle of the restaurant with tables aligned fairly close to one another. I could hear the conversations of the people seated on either side. Food: 4 out of 5 Branzino - first time having the dish. It was flavorful...and the fish was tender and fresh. Great option. WOW factor! Massaman Curry - tasted like the $15 version I order for pick up up the street. Good amount of cashews...needed more spices. No wow factor. Service: 3 out of 5. Paya Thai far exceeded my expectations from the interior decor, ambiance to plating and food/drinks. You would never guess such a beautiful restaurant lies within Westside Provisions. The server and manager were professional, attentive, and so knowledgeable in helping us pick our food and drink options. I was most intrigued by the drink menu - mostly the Vesper (has Tom Yum syrup) and Pandan Milk Tea (made with coconut milk). For the Vesper, I really didn't taste much of the Tom Yum syrup, but the texture was a bit thicker. A little disappointed but the drink itself was made well. However, I LOVED the Pandan Milk Tea! Growing up, my grandmother made a lot of sweets/pastries with pandan and this took me back to my childhood. I highly recommend for everyone to try this one! For food: A friend and I split the Hot Pot Tom Tum which came in a beautifully decorated blue & gold pot. It was perfect for a cold winter night, and tasted like it was made with such care. (Don't forget a side of rice!)We were so glad that we picked this option. The other dishes were also delicious, but I will need to come back to update what they picked. Lastly, the coconut cake was actually the star of the dinner. Our waitress let us know it is made with a Thai dessert recipe and I had to fight the urge to lick the plate. You MUST try this dessert! The West End was kissing a great upscale Thai place and now we finally have one! Paya just opened, so it wasn't busy at all. We opted for outdoor seating since it was beautiful outside. The service was excellent - very attentive and great suggestions from the menu. I was having trouble choosing between 3 different things - everything looked delicious. The Basil Fried rice was well seasoned and with seafood you get a great amount of seafood. Noodles on the Pad Kee Mao was some of the best I've had. The Glass Noodle Salad was refreshing and comes with a great amount of seafood as well. We also got a Thai Tea. It was the perfect balance of sweet. If you are in the area visiting other local spots or shopping this seems a good place to stop, especially without a reservation (as many of the other restaurants here require one). The calamari was good, but I LOVED the fried jalapenos that came with it and wish that was its own dish! The pad kee mao was not the most flavorful but with some added chiles was pretty good. My husband had the beef with black pepper and garlic and that was super yummy! Coconut cake was also very good. Service was excellent. Including bar staff who were very friendly! I did notice that I think (not sure) that there was a whole back section of the restaurant and it seemed like they were sitting people in the front section, right up next to each other. II would rather not be right up next to other guests if there is a whole other section available. They also have a cute outdoor area so if it's nice out that would be perfect. Of note cocktails were almost 20$ (16-18 each) we got a beer each, and Sapporo were $8 if you're a beer drinker for reference. Overall 4 stars because the service was excellent!
