I saw a post on Yelp advertising $4.90 drinks for their 49th anniversary and invited my friend for a Saturday lunch. I've passed this shopping center numerous times. There's plenty of free parking available. The restaurant is quite small. We didn't have a reservation and were seated promptly. We started off with lychee martinis that were strong. I also ordered spring-rolls. I wasn't a fan of the mushy filling. For my entree, my friend talked me into getting the drunken noodles with shrimp. The drunken noodles were a bit pasty and dry in my opinion. As we continued, we drank a mai tai and a dragon fruit margarita. The dragon fruit cocktail was definitely my favorite out of the bunch. We took a walk around Atlanta's park trails in the Piedmont area and ended up at this restaurant for dinner. It is located at the far end of a fairly large shopping center near the trail. Nice find! We each ordered different entrees and sampled a few appetizers. Every item was delicious and had fresh, flavorful ingredients. I ordered the pad Thai entree and was happy with my choice. Waiter was very friendly and helpful with menu suggestions. The restaurant is fairly small, but is clean and comfortable. The food here was so so. Prices were meh. Service was pretty good. The poor waiter was just running around the place all by himself. A couple of us came here for their 39th anniversary event. There was a hand-made sign, but really it was just another Saturday despite the event saying reservations were needed. There were some specials like boat noodles for $5, cocktail deals, and 20% off of the Chef Specials section. But the boat noodle special is actually every Sat... Most of the food strangely had a sweetness to it. From the boat noodle to a rice dish even to my pad Thai. Why was my lobster pad Thai sweet?! I've had good and bad pad Thai from causal to formal restaurants before, but this sweetness from an established restaurant was just strange. The boat noodle was more like a large sampling. I guess for $5, you won't get a full throttle serving. I'd estimate it to be two ladle worth of food at most. And for it being made with blood, I'm still confused as to why it's sweet. Our friend who often travels to Thailand and have had boat noodles before couldn't even finish his meager portion. I'm not a fan either for trying it my first time. The lobster pad Thai was decent. The lobster tail itself was good. Nothing wrong with the lobster. The pad Thai was strangely sweet. Sweet enough that my friends even commented on it. There wasn't anything off about the ingredients so who knows. The portion size of the noodles was a generous amount though. The duck basil was really tasty. The duck sat upon a bed of broth that composed of bell peppers, onions, and green beans. Again there was a subtle sweetness to this as well. But it was seasoned very well and was wonderful with the rice. Most roasted ducks are good imo. I didn't like how the price charged for one of our dishes was wrong. It was not the waiter's fault as he said he only pressed a button. But not only did the hubs did not get the discount from the "event special" pricing but was charged $2 more. And it's not like one of those restaurants where the menu is all marked and blanked out with new prices. I'm physically sitting at the restaurant looking at their nice, clean menu. I came here for their 39th year anniversary special. It was basically 20% off so chefs special, $5 drinks, and $5 boat noodles. Apparently the boat noodles are always on the menu for $5 during weekend lunch so it wasn't that special. I haven't had boat noodles in a while so I had to try. It was a small portion and had a good thick blood taste but it was a little overly sweet. My friend didn't enjoy it and actually couldn't eat it. I thought it was fine. The wife got the lobster fried rice and it was decent but not worth $40. The pad Thai itself seem pretty generic to the wife and she also felt like it was a little bit sweet. She vastly prefers Bangkok street foods pad Thai for $15 instead. I had the crispy basil duck and it was pretty delicious. This skin was crisp but and the middle was not overcooked like a lot of Chinese places. I'd say the duck was medium well and plenty of juicy. Even with the 20% off anniversary special I ended up spending $85+ for two dishes and the $5 boat noodle. The server was excellent despite how busy it was. I get that this area expensive. Would it be weird if I just came here and ordered 3x $5 servings of the boat noodles? Would i come here again? Not really. Bangkok Street Food, Bangkok Station, and Tom Puk Puk are better but you got to drive up to Buford highway for them. read more

First time here and it didn't disappoint! The restaurant was smaller than what thought it would be but the atmosphere was still super friendly and welcoming! Staff (Palm) was great and super helpful and lastly the food was amazing! I just got back from Bangkok Thailand so this food definitely measured up to the country! I had calamari, fried potstickers, tea rose dumplings, crab fried rice and the Pad Thai. They were all delicious. The mango drink did really taste like mango but the dragon fruit margarita was pretty good! I recommend this place for sure! read more

This place is lovely from the moment you step in - the atmosphere is inviting, updated and feels very modern. We stopped in on a Monday - it has been a while since I was there last and I remembered an enjoyable experience. My dinner companion is a chef and isn't really crazy about Thai food so I convinced him this was THE Place to go. Our server was a bit "uptight" when we arrived , but he loosened up a little around "tip time" - and was ok ...previously I remembered being treated a bit nicer and felt more welcome by my server, but this wasn't to be the case on this occasion- he was ok. We started with Basil Spring Rolls and Chicken Satay starters - and we were off to a good start - great flavor in both, the spring rolls were great and so fresh. Our entrees arrived and that's when we got a little let down. The Chicken in my Pad Se Ew was flavorless and a bit chewy - not tender- noodles and veggies were good tho. My fiends Combo Fried Rice while beautifully presented had the same issue. Shrimp, Chicken and Beef had no flavor and were overcooked- you know what happens to shrimp once overcooked...rubber. Why then do I give 3 stars?? Overall a decent experience just a bit let down by the entrees and my "I'm just doing my job" server. I will go back and try again....but it may be a while. Great service! Very friendly and attentive. This is cute, modern'ish styled restaurant. I'd describe as a medium-small space. Very clean. Bathrooms are a little tight. Food was good. I had the Basil Chicken that came with steamed white rice, Jeeb for the appetizer and a Lychee martini. Was my first time trying Jeeb. It was delicious. We wanted to try the boat noodles along with some other items seeing as they've been operating for decades. There were a fair number of tables but we were seated immediately. We each tried the boat noodles and got various entrees. The boat noodles were small and the flavor was only okay; it was atypical for boat noodles and a bit sweet. I got the thai basil crispy pork and friends got thai crispy pork and rice, the lobster pad thai, and a duck curry. My dish was plentiful but a little sweet. The thai crispy pork and rice was only ok as well and small, even though my friend paid extra for additional meat. The lobster pad thai was flavored well and the duck on the duck curry was best item ordered. There were definitely a few missed steps in terms of refills and accuracy of orders but there were few staff onsite. The items were cooked well but flavor and quantity were not what we'd expect. If I'm stuck in the area and really wanted thai, it'll satisfy an itch. I'd prefer to drive a little further. read more

We went as a group and were seated right away on a Saturday night. The spot can feed about 30 to 40 people but it does get noisy. We ordered the drink specials as part of their 49th anniversary specials menu as listed on yelp. The drinks were average but what threw me off was the drink sizes changed between each order. I used to eat here once a week when I worked at Emory. I was so happy to rediscover it when we stopped in to check it out after many years. Still just as wonderful! The service is always excellent and the restaurant, although updated, feels just as cozy as ever. My go to has always been their Pad Thai, and they did not disappoint. Still the best Pad Thai in town. I love the fact that this is the oldest Thai restaurant in Atlanta and it is still serving delicious Thai food. read more

This is the second time in a row I have had the worst experience here! The service is NOT what it used to be and the snapper is NOT the same. For a $50 meal I expect a little salt & pepper!! The service was good, the smell in the restaurant wasn't. I stayed for the food and I'm glad I did. I thought the portion was small and the noodles were overcooked/stuck together. But the taste of everything when I added the broth was delicious. I wouldn't recommend the pear juice unless you mix it with something else. But I would recommend the honey pork noodle dish. I was riding my bike down the Beltline and decided to pop into Bangkok Thai for lunch. I swear last time I was here was in the early 1980s. For real. The name is the same but it has obviously been remodeled recently. I got Pla Khew Whan, a fried fish filet in coconut curry. It came with a bowl of rice. Very tasty. Just the right amount of spice. So here are some extra credit points: the waiter confifmed that Bangkok Thai opened in 1977 and is the oldest Thai restaurant in Atlanta. The original owner has retired and the menu has been updated. With the most recent renovation, Bangkok Thai is open and airy. I'm giving them five stars for being the first! read more

I was in a mood for Thai and discovered this location via food delivery app and figured I'd keep it simple for the first time, so I order wings and a pork combo. The wings had a flavor that was unusual to me as I've never had seasoning like it before. It was intriguing but not quite what I was looking for on this day. The sauce was a tomato's-based sauce with a good amount of spice but didn't really seem to complement the wings. The Super Pork combo was certainly NOT super especially considering the portion I was given, which is a shame because it all tasted good. It felt like a sampler type of dish so having SUPER in the name felt very misleading at $22. The whole time I am there no one says anything to me. This goes on for like a whole 20 mins. They seemed like they were short staffed but IDK. Saying hello takes no time and customer service should be a priority. Long story short eventually someone takes my order. As I am waiting he never asked me if I wanted water while a wait but continued to ask everyone around me to try the new drink specials. I had a bad experience in this restaurant. Very authentic Thai. I would say the only thing they could of done better is the papaya salad. They need to use the mortar and pestle and if they had lao style that would be even better! I love ordering their beef jerky and pad Thai. Those are my absolute favorites. I had tried the massaman curry. The curry is a not a large portion. They have plenty of the veggies and meat but keep in mind the sauce is very low. Not nearly enough for the rice. Also I tried the kao soi. It was ok but I didn't really love the pickled veggies in there. The curry soup was really tasty and I liked the noodles too. Dessert is SOOO GOOD!!! homemade strawberry cheese cake is to die for and the homemade mango sticky rice is super sweet and delicious!!' I will say it is expensive but worth every penny! read more

Ordered dinner from here via Door Dash and was not impressed at all. I wanted to give it a try since it's in the neighborhood, plus we LOVE Thai food! I ordered my 5yo daughter the chicken satay. It came with a peanut sauce and some wilted lettuce on the side. I would suggest the lettuce be left out if it's for presentation purposes. The chicken came wrapped in foil and in a to-go box with the peanut sauce on the side. My daughter ate one whole stick and didn't want anymore - it comes with 4. I tried the chicken satay and while the flavor was good, the chicken itself was dry and probably not freshly cooked. Also ordered chicken fried rice. I was disappointed when ordering on door dash because to add any ingredient to the rice is an additional $5 up charge per ingredient. Ended up ordering it as is. The rice wasn't great. It was dry and not flavorful. I have had amazing fried rice at other restaurants in Atlanta. I was sad this restaurant didn't work for us especially because it came with a hefty price tag! read more

Walked here from the botanical gardens and so glad I did! The food was great! Nice selection of vegetarian dishes and beautiful drinks. I no longer see this option on the menu but when they had it, it was pretty dammed good. Classified as Lobster Pad Thai with Jumbo Sea Scallops. It was delivery so the texture was only slightly off due to steaming en route. When it arrived it smelled like cold water lobster but the taste was very good. I had never seen an option this well suited to my tastes. It was lobster, scallop and pad thai and for me that's a win win. As a lover of both Thai and Seafood , I loved this. The potstickers made it through the enroute steaming process and somehow maintained their Crispy exterior. The sauce was more on the tangy side, whereas I prefer a more savory deeper taste. Both visits went great! Smaller sized restaurant but with a pretty good amount of seating. Bar seating is also available. I ordered the Pad See Ew with shrimp instead of chicken (hot level: medium) and the basil rolls appetizer both times. I know I should try something different but they are both really good. Although the first basil roll I ordered tasted a lot better, it had more flavor, and this second time I tasted no basil. I order a side of sriracha for my rolls, I need the spicy. I really love the grilled like flavor to the Pad See Ew dish, and the medium leveled spicy is not too hot, for my own personal heat tolerance. Parking is free and the restaurant is right on the Beltline (the newly paved pathway runs right along the restaurant). Their customer service was great both times. The first time I was dining with some girlfriends and it was super dark by the time we were done so, without asking, the server asked us if we would like to be escorted to our cars. The food here has gotten better with the new chef. It's still not one of the best Thai restaurants around but the food is pretty good. The servers are green though and need more training. You don't leave app dishes on the table for the full meal when they're clearly finished when the mains come. Don't be that lazy waitress. People tip basked on how good the service is. My guest had the fried fish dish with pik king sauce and it was as very good. He gave it an 8 out of 10. I had the green curry with chicken and it was good but not spectacular. I gave it a 6.5 out of 10. We had calamari for app and it was very good. 8 out of 10. I think the beers are overpriced for the quality of the establishment. Ditto for some of the dishes. You don't sell a fish dish for $50 when your atmosphere is like a diner. Chairs at all tables badly in need of replacement. The dining room is just an assortment of tables and chairs all in one l-shape. Nothing like booths are walls to block the noise so it can get VERY loud on busy nights. It's a nice simple neighborhood Thai place but the prices reach beyond the restaurant's grasp. read more
