I ordered from Talia's through Grub Hub. The order came 20 minutes late, and since I ordered shortly before 8 p.m. the arrival of close to 9 left me starving. My husband ordered Penne Ala Vodka and received ... I don't know what? I would say it was Bolognese, but that is usually serviced with Fettucine and this was penne. I ordered a hero...described as a TRUE Sub...It was turkey with brie, "Organic lettuce", and cranberry sauce. It came HOT! The "organic lettuce" was cooked, the sandwich was drowned in cranberry sauce (canned), and there wasn't much turkey. For $11.00 I expected better. Okay this is a bit of a bi-polar review. Really a 3.5+, but I admit I have a bit of a soft spot for this place. First, I have used to here all the time when I worked right around the corner, however it has been a while since I have been back here. Those things that have not changed, such as the top notch tasty sandwiches wedged between nice and hearty Tuscan bread are still as delicious as ever. The same sassy service reminds of New York, the fantastic soup and delicious pasta. So why only 3.5 instead of 4 stars? Of all things, the pizza was well...not up to par. Maybe, in contrast to all the other food (which is delicious) the pizza was so disappointing. The crusts taste and texture was almost a "Boboli" or pre made dough and the cheese was way too salty. Talia's gives you a lot for your money. The subs start at $10 a pop but they're really enough for two people. The pizza, well let's just skip that part. For years Talia was a little hidden gem that grew by locals giving spreading the word, especially in the workplace. Since then, it has blossomed on all fronts. It has adjusted to appeal to just about everyone using good marketing, witty humor, social media and of course more of that word of mouth. They're friendly there, but you could easily be overwhelmed if you're not familiar with these kind of places. A big menu, a bunch of sarcastic signs on the wall and of course Godfather or Goodfellas playing in the back drop. By the way, that whole thing is such a cliche these days in Italian restaurants. If you're hungry and looking for a real-deal Italian sandwich it is a great option. The things I don't love about this place is how sometimes it doesn't always look so clean inside. It's too cluttered now with that Shrimp Shack they opened up inside. To be perfectly honesty, it takes away from Talia. I like places that know their role. They don't stray from their roots and never loose sight of what made people come to them in the first place. The whole place looks like Sanford & Son inside and even though it doesn't change taste of their food, I hesitate to come here sometimes because of that. Less is more in this case. To me, it's not that appetizing to see a seafood buffet just two feet away from your table when you're there eating your Bronx Bomber. East Boca has a lot of decent sub options like V&S, 620, Laspadas and of course Talia's. I ate here a few years ago. I remember the food being decent, but the atmosphere was weird. Fast forward 4 years, and I decided to grab pizza and a salad from Talia's. PROS: -Parking is abundant. -The owner seems like a decent guy who has a following, with the way he knows almost everyone who comes through the door. -The place has a cozy style with random disclaimers, misc photos, and the Godfather movie playing on a continuous loop. CONS: -The atmosphere is still odd. It's a really cluttered place. I don't mind chotchkies, but it seems that any free wall space is covered with customer Polaroids, Italian-themed signs, slogans, and hand-written declaimers. -There's this weird shrimp restaurant that looks like it was attached to Talia's at one point. It appears that the shrimp restaurant failed, and Talia's took the additional space. Unfortunately, the nautical-themed décor hasn't been removed. It's strange to eat Italian in a place with blue walls and ocean motif. -My pizza wasn't stellar, and lacked crust. I can only describe it as something you'd get at a Chuck E Cheese. -The salad super salty for some reason. It didn't bother me, but my wife passed on it. -The place is really cluttered. Some may enjoy the scattered, hodge podge decor, and some may think it appears dirty. -The owner is a Jets fan. This is just my .02. I know many who like this place, and swear by Talia's. Horrible both times we ordered delivery. Worst pizza we have ever had. The sauce tastes like bad tomato paste from a can. Had to throw it out. Second time we ordered 2 flavor a of wings. Their wings are so breaded and not good. The pasta salad we ordered came with the wrong pasta and 3 small pieces of chicken and no mozzarella as ordered. Expensive $48.00! Will never order again. I've mad poor choices. The buffet was one.... The owner suggested a Godfather sandwich. My coworker had an Italian Jew. This will be a shorter review only because I have very little to say in the negative. The food is great.! It's not three star or even two star dining; it's one notch up from sitting down in a deli, but oh so worth the trip! You order at the counter, you grab a beer and wait for them to yell out your name then grab your food, some fresh artisan bread, dig in and enjoy. The place is friendly, beer is self serve on tap for $1, and I guarantee you will find yourself coming back again and again as most of their patrons do. The sandwiches are all $10 each so you might say they are a bit on the pricey side, but considering you can have a "Verde" - chicken cutlet with prosciutto, marinara, spinach and cheese on home made artisan bread served up in a portion large enough for two speaks volumes of their value. (They sell huge loaves of their bread to go for $5). My sandwich on Saturday weighed about three pounds - I had the second half for dinner. They usually shoot a free beverage or two at you and offer you hunks of fresh cheese as you order at the counter. There are many other offerings and much of the standard Italian fare that you would expect at a pseudo-restaurant... and some you wouldn't - like cooking classes on sunday, or handmade lobster ravioli for, yes...$10.00! Recently they opened Baba's shrimp shack which is a creole/seafood/fish fry restaurant that is connected to Talia's (you access it from inside of Talia's). There too, you will find great food, very, very reasonably priced. There's not much to say on this one - I suppose I wish it were fancier, I wish there were servers - I wish a lot of things including peace on earth and Le Bernardin to have buy one get one free dinner coupons. Realistically, Talia's shouldn't change a thing. The premise is simple, no frills, great good, reasonable prices, friendly, local atmosphere and clean up after yourself. My fiance bought a Groupon for us to attend a "cooking class with wine pairing" at Talia's Tuscan Table. Because of the high quantity of Groupons sold, it took quite some time for us to actually get in for our class. But it was worth the wait. Our class had about 20 "students" and was pretty informal. The instructor is Chef Baba, who owns and operates the place. He's great! Upon arrival, we were presented some printed lists of the items we would be preparing (ie: Bruschetta) and everyone gathered together in the kitchen to help cook. We were given samples of some wine, and everything we ate was delicious, especially the Pasta e Fagioli soup! There were even leftovers for us to take home. This is a great place to go for an inexpensive lunch. I've only tried their sandwiches, but they have a buffet that looks pretty good. My co-worker had split a DaVinci with me awhile ago, so I thought I'd give it a whirl. I dropped in to order a sandwich to go. I asked for recommendations, and the cashier (owner? manager?) had so many it ended up not being all that helpful. I settled on the Marconi (smoked turkey, bacon, provolone, avocado, lettuce, tomato & citrus mayo). They don't say it on their menu, but you can order a half sandwich. I highly recommend a half because the regular size is too big and it doesn't save well. I only had to wait maybe 7 minutes before my sandwich was ready. The cashier almost forgot to charge me, so I told him I had to pay. After doing so, he offered me a free beverage from the cooler on my way out. How nice! So, I drank my free bottled water and ate my sandwich at work. The sandwich did get a bit soggy near the end, but it was still quite tasty. We have been ordering talias for YEARS, and let me tell you... on numerous occasions the owner or manager (bald) is not welcoming nor friendly/hospitable. We ordered via an app this evening due to it being Halloween. The chicken was missing from our salad and the salad came in a totally different container than normal. Which is fine, we called because this was someone's meal and we needed the chicken we had paid for. When my husband got there to pick it up after paying over $10 in delivery fees, the hospitality was not up to par. "What's wrong now?" I have been coming here for years. I have had short stint of working in Miami so I have not been here nearly enough. My new job is in the area so I suggested it to my coworkers on our next lunch outing. It appears there is new ownership and they've expanded into the next storefront. The Baked Ziti was soupy. I have yet to find a restaurant in Florida that actually has cheese---RICOTTA cheese mixed in so the ziti just isn't pasta in sauce!!!! This place is a hidden gem, and I only found it because of Yelp! It is a little hole-in-the-wall place. Nothing fancy, and I liked how they had The Godfather playing on the television. I don't know if it is always playing there, but it adds a little something to an Italian sandwich shop. Now, onto the sandwiches. These things were humongous! I am what you would call "a good eater" (Clean Plate Club representing!), and even I had difficulty finishing the whole thing. Moreover, it was not just quantity, but quality as well, filled with delicious Italian ingredients. If you are looking for a huge Italian-style sandwich and have time to lapse into a food coma afterwards, then you should really check out Talia's Tuscan Table. My girlfriend wanted to take Chef Andy's (also owner) cooking class via groupon. The class covered a wide range of cooking techniques from the very basics to way over my head. The foodies in the class seemed to enjoy the advanced stuff, while the rest of us def learned to up our cooking in major ways. He showed us how to streamline the cooking process while simultaneously increasing quality. Chef Andy was tremendous. He's certainly Italian and has that fun attitude to match. He was so friendly, but there's no doubt he's the King of Talia's. It's clear he keeps his business life at full capacity and as a fellow small business owner I appreciate the effort and commitment that requires. This is my 2nd time here and was excited for the good and service we received the last time we came down. Well it was direct opposite. It was about 3pm on Tuesday and not a table occupied. We walk in to the owners wife asking us what do we want and doesn't seat us. We say we were here for a late lunch. Had an amazing lunch at Talia's today. This is a very family oriented restaurant.. The owners, Frankie and his wife are very friendly and attentive. Their daughter is so cute! Wow am I glad we stumbled across Talia's Tuscan Table. What a wonderful experience from the super friendly service and the fantastic food. There were four of us at the table and unanimously over and over we all exclaimed how delicious and fresh everything was from the Calamari Diavolo, to the zuppe di pesce to the snapper Francese and all beginning with a gorgeous fresh salad and ending with freshly brewed coffee and Cannoli. If your mouth is watering reading this it should be because mine is writing it and I just enjoyed it. Frank the owner is a great guy and Olga his wife is an amazing cook. My girlfriend and I ate at Talia's on Saturday because it has been previously rated by New Times as the best Italian in Boca, as well being rated by Thrillist as one of the best sandwich joints in the U.S. We ordered the fried mozzarella to start with, it was incredible. They make it there, so it's not like the crappy ones you get at chains. It had a perfect amount of crust, and their marinara is bomb. It's authentic, you can really taste the ingredients. We ordered the Michelangelo and the Verde sandwiches. These were the best Italian sandwiches we've ever had, bar none. Each one was literally two sandwiches, so it was like ordering 4 sandwiches, they were damned huge! They do not skimp on the ingredients, they were wondiferous and warm and were nothing but delicious. They were so good we took them home, warmed them up in the oven Sunday and they were still freaking delicious! I feel like they have to make their own bread because the bread was bomb. We dipped it in marinara because the sandwiches have plenty of bread. The chef guy brought our sandwiches to us. The owner guy who waited on us was really nice, didn't charge for bottled water (which some previous reviewer claimed), and he only charged me for my can of Pepsi, which he also let me get a second one without charging me after I drank my first can. He was attentive, cleaned a patio table for us, kept checking on us, and was also friendly to the couple near us as well. I think it may have been the Frank mentioned by other posters, but I didn't ask him his name, and he was great. I think some previous negative reviews should be taken with a grain of salt because the fact is the sandwiches ARE as good as advertised, and mom and pop places that are this good are very HARD to find, especially at those prices. It's not a bunch of generic processed food, but unique recipes and carefully prepared Italian ingredients that were very authentic and delicious. It reminds me of a bomb sandwich shop we found in San Diego that was insanely good and unforgettable. You can look at my review history. I'm not afraid to trash a place if it sucks, and I'm happy to write a good review when a place deserves it. Most places we eat I do not review, but this place deserved a solid review. I want to love this place but the ambiance is horrible. It seems dirty. A good paint job and clean up the act above the buffet. For $500 you could have decent looking place. The food is good but the place makes my skin crawl. If he would let me come in and clean up the place, organize the tables, put a checkered curtain over the buffet and better organize the pictures, I guarantee his customers would more than double. Opted for fountain soda and owner said just drink the cans, as many as you want). Ordered the Tiramisu for dessert (to go) and a nice portion. Second visit: 2.5 stars. Arrived on a Thursday evening (early) for dinner with another friend. Wanted something different (didn't opt for the buffet). Asked for soda again, got a can (figured it was as many as first time), not so (hence 2.5 stars). Charged me $2.50 per can of Sprite. OUTRAGEOUS. Ordered the tiramisu to go again, and got a portion smaller than an index card, maybe an inch thick (at most). Oh yeah, back to dinner, no chicken piccata on the menu, however since there was a salmon piccata, asked if they could make chicken piccata. They did, however, one piece was breaded the other not so much. Also, they charged me an extra $2 for it. Will try one more time. The "stars" may go up or down based on my next visit. We had a Groupon for Talia's Tuscan Table. After placing our order, we were given water bottles from Costco (charged $1.99) for each bottle of water -- Canned soda was also available at a cost of $1.99 (!!) per can! When it came time to pay the bill, the waiter/owner (??) came to the table and I showed him the Groupon on my phone. He became very nasty and irrate, saying the "Groupon is not acceptable for sandwiches" (do not recall the Groupon saying anything about "a sandwich is not acceptable."). He also angrily stated, "You should have told me about the Groupon before you ordered" -- Again, nothing said on the actual Groupon about giving any "advanced notice" before placing any orders?? This man was just not professional or nice, and rest assured, we will NOT be going back to this establishment any time in the future, given the manner in which we were treated, and also causing a "scene" for the few folks that were seated around us! This Groupon for Talia's Tuscan Table was a terrible, tacky, and total waste of our time and money, so stay away from this place!
