It took me a while to decide what I wanted because I wanted everything lol but I decided on the haupia latte. My partner got the nitro cold brew and my friend got the coffee talk smoothie. Any coffee place with specialty drinks automatically gets saved to my bookmarks, and this place has a lot of them! On our first visit, I found it hard to narrow down what I wanted. I decided on an iced Thai-dee Haupia Latte which is sweetened with condensed milk & coconut. It was delicious! It could've been stronger but it was still a nice choice. My husband's Nutella latte was spot on with Nutella flavor once you mixed it up properly. It's interesting because at this shop, their lattes are reversed, they start with the coffee and/or flavor on bottom and then top off with the milk. So just make sure to mix everything really good if you get a flavored latte! On our second visit we happened to be eating brunch next door so we stopped in on our walk back to the car. I was excited to try another drink from the menu. I picked the Red Velvet Latte - which has nothing to do with flavors of red velvet by the way, it's just merely the color. It has white and dark chocolate with raspberry. It was very rich in raspberry flavor and I liked it! My husband got the Thai coffee which was okay to me but I preferred my Thai haupia latte from the other day more. I think wait times can vary. When we came on a Friday morning at 9am, we didn't wait more than 10 minutes. When we returned on a Sunday at the same time, the place was packed. Almost every table was full, and the line wrapped nearly to the back of the shop. It seems like they make your drinks right away and then take your payment when the drink is done, then move on to the next customer, which is why the line to order can seem pretty long. On the busier day though, they had more people working so they were able to start drinks first so they're ready by the time you get up to the register. Always great service both times we came. It's a very down to earth spot, reminds me of a local coffee shop I'd find back home with eclectic furniture and coffee themed signage & decor. Don't expect anything modern or fancy - it's just a good ol classic coffee shop with great flavors. Don't let the 3-star average on Yelp fool you either. It beats a Starbucks or other chain any day. They have a food menu and great looking pastry case too but both times we came, we had either just finished a big meal or about to eat one. An adorable coffee shop on the Waialae strip! I am seriously surprised that this cafe isn't rated higher! Everything from the friendly staff to the homey interior to the fact that it is dog friendly to the delicious and creative menu....this place is awesome! My friends and I came by around 3pm on a Wed after going to the cat cafe. The service was a biiiit slow, since only one person was making our drinks, but it wasn't too bad. If you order a pastry, there's a microwave for you to self-heat, which I think is awesome! I'd definitely prefer that over someone else heating it up for me, since I may not eat it right away. There are plenty of seats around, and I love the bright indoor-outdoor extension of the restaurant. There was a decent amount of people at the cafe, either catching up with friends, doing personal work on laptops, or whatevers - the environment was perfect for all of the above. Quite a lot of open seating, so it doesn't feel cramped or stuffed. I ordered the Thai Haupia Latte and the Butter Coconut Mochi, both of which were delicious. I got mine in to-go containers, but if you are dining in, the cups they give you for your drinks look like giant butterbeer cups, and it was hilarious. I also like how large the portions are for the pastries! Definitely roll on by if you get the chance! I love Coffee Talk! They're always busy so expect to wait in line for a bit; however, the service is always great and the employees are always pleasant! The space is very hip-feeling. Decor is what I would describe as modern-vintage (idk if that is a real thing but whatever!). My go-to beverage is their Coffee Talk Shake. In the 10+ years I've been going here, the shake is always the same, so good! Their food choices are a mix of savory and sweet and healthy. Today, I took a bite of a friend's almond croissant and it's definitely something I'd get for myself next time. I ordered the acai bowl and was less than thrilled about it. It wasn't bad but it needed a little more oomph...maybe somw honey drizzle and strawberries. Mine just came with the acai base, granola with dried cranberries, and banana slices. Something about this place is just nostalgic and it's not just the decor which I love! Every nook and cranny is filled with something quirky and cute something you'd like in your own personal cave if you'd have one lol!! Each table is almost like in it's own personal space so comforting and relaxing that you almost get lost just chilling with your Joe. As they do offer the classic and their own twist on coffee and teas, I did choose their seasonal list as it is limited time I couldn't resist. 'Tis the season for Eggnog Latte and I'll have one iced please! Though they do have milk alternative of Almond, Soy and Oat I forgot but it's okay. Not really an eggnog drinker but decided to try so I'm not sure if it is what it is but was a nice smooth drink that was just the perfect amount of yumminess. They do also have an incredible amount of baked goods including quiche, turnover, scones and sammies. With so much indoor and outdoor seatings either catching up with besties or tryna get work done, I totally recommend coming here as the municipal parking lot out back majority is complete. Stopped into coffee talk today for a quick lunch and I am so glad I did! I ordered the chicken caeser salad and it was perfect. They advertise it as "tangy" and it totally was. The caeser tasted unique, not like every other caeser salad and it was delicious. The croutons were great, too! Their case of pastries is too tempting to resist so I caved and got their berry and cream cheese turnover. YUM. It was flaky, with the perfect tart berry flavor mixed with cream cheese. There were a lot of people inside working on their laptops as it is a great place to get some work done with plenty of tables and countless unique coffee options. Lived in Kaimuki, dined plenty in Kaimuki but in the 14 years that I've been on Oahu - this is the first time I've visited! Line was about 10 people long when we stepped in. Looks like it was a order then sit process - we got ours to-go and sat outside. Lots of drink and eating options to choose from! Drinks and food were 5/5. Clientele is majority college students studying, handful of business like meetings and a pinch of casual coffee drinkers. My only bone to pick was ordering process. They were quick to take orders but you don't pay until your order is complete. This left a congestion of us waiting to pay/pick up our order. Wish this process was a bit smoother. The last 2 times I've gone here, I unfortunately found that the lattes that I ordered had a weird chemical after taste to them. I'm not sure if it's the syrups or the espresso itself. Stumbled on this place while waiting for a nearby cafe and what a pleasant surprise it was. The outside is unassuming but as soon as you enter you are greeted with tons of artwork and neon signs as well as a menu with the most speciality drinks I've ever seen at a coffee house. Hopefully there's a line when you get there so you have some time to decided on what you want. I loved the vibe and would have stayed for a bit if I could. 5/5 to any coffee shop with tons of specialty drinks. After much thought I decided on the cinnamon roll latte. The matchas are wayyyy too sweet even as originals. And pricey! How you charge sum $9 when you just mix the powda in some cheap emulsifier filler oat milk? They don't even prep the matcha traditionally.. basically bulk sweet powder. Some of the baristas are kinda snoody and they don't seem to appreciate the customer. I came in for a pastry and had taken my matcha from home because I like actually good drinks with healthy ingredients done right. I left it on the table outside, it was a blank cup, no advertising anything- it was MY matcha from my house. The plan was to sit and enjoy some food from their shop while drinking my good stuff. She had such a mainland vibe type attitude about it, and called me on it and tried to lecture me! Oh no not happening, you're not even from here lady. I came here for a "coworking" afternoon with a coworker and it was refreshing to see so many people from all walks of life having meetings over coffee or working at their computers. I love how coffee talk actually encourages their customers to stick around instead of feeling pushed out after a few hours. The guest wifi is solid. They have tasty food selections and good coffee options. What more could you need for a productive day?! Went there this morning with my wife. Great location and vibe with young and older people. Like a great neighbor hang out place. The coffee and muffin I had were both delicious. The young servers did a great job as well. However, I do suggest they display prices someplace so it's not a surprise at the register. It would be nice to know what items cost prior to ringing them up. It kind of puts pressure on the customers not to change their minds due to price if customers are waiting behind them. Also, the prepopulated tips suggestions of 20%, 25%, and 28% doesn't really associate with no table service at all. I came to coffee talk at 12pm on a Friday, and the lot behind the Koa Pancake House was packed! I had to try the lot behind Via Gelato, which was also pretty full, but I was able to wait around to get a stall. The parking there was pretty expensive - I think I paid $4.50 for around 2 hours. When I got to Coffee Talk, they seemed pretty unorganized. Someone took my order, but I had to wait a few minutes until I paid. I asked the worker if there's still a charge for paying with card, and she said I don't think so. I didn't really trust her, so I paid with cash anyways. If you look at my receipt, they took off a percentage for the card processing, then added it back in at the bottom. I don't really know if that was a discount, considering they don't have any prices on their menu, which was kind of annoying. I'm not a huge coffee drinker, but I ended up getting a latte. It was super sweet and filled with creamer and milk. I also got a goat cheese sandwich with cucumbers and tomatoes. I loved this sandwich! There was a generous amount of goat cheese, as well as cucumbers and tomatoes. If you don't like cheese, I don't recommend getting this sandwich. Also, the bread they used was bomb! It was light, which went perfectly with the crunchy cucumbers. I really like the ambiance of this place, especially with the bright decor. I was sitting in the separate room on the side facing Waialae Ave, and it did get pretty hot in there. When I went, it was pretty noisy, so it might not be the best place for quiet studying. read more

Finally stopped by to try this place out (had an in-person work meeting here) and was lucky enough yo find parking right in the back. There's 1 hr metered parking along the streets and the paid parking lot in the back. There's a cashier right when you get in, though you need to know their system in order to get service. You order first, and then pay when you receive your items. From what I gathered, though the cash register is on the right side of the counter, the line snakes towards the left (or at least it did for us on this day). It seemed a little chaotic when we went around 830a on a Wednesday. There's quite a bit of options for bakery items, and their beverage menu is very eclectic. We tried their muffins and curry puffs, so yummy, definitely recommend! Within the vicinity, there are lots of seats, and it looks like there's a few bar seating as well. Cafe style type of chairs and tables giving it a certain kind of vibe. The room towards the side had electric fans blowing throughout that room, I'm assuming to push the air condition around. Stopped in today for a coffee before I went to get a mani & pedi close by. I've been here before and has always loved coming here. The atmosphere is always so peaceful and a fun place to hang out with friends. When I walked in today, the service was amazing. They were all so nice and helpful. DO NOT COME HERE This coffee shop is always busy--every time I come, there's a long line, which is understandable for a popular spot. However, the service during our most recent visit was disappointing. My family and I (three of us) stopped by, and when it was our turn to order, the cashier only took one person's order before walking away without asking if we needed anything else. We were left standing there, unsure if we should wait, step aside, or if she was coming back. Meanwhile, the other cashier continued taking orders from customers behind us. After some confusion, she returned with the first coffee and then asked what else we wanted. We placed the rest of our order, and again, she walked away without any clear communication. At that point, the payment screen was facing us, so we assumed everything had been entered and went ahead with the payment. We then stepped aside to avoid blocking the register. When our drinks were ready, we picked them up and sat at our table, still waiting for the sandwich. That's when the cashier approached us, saying we hadn't paid. We were confused because we thought we had. Instead of handling it with understanding, one of the staff (an older lady) made a big deal about us not knowing their process and insisted that we shouldn't have rung ourselves up. But how were we supposed to know? There was no communication, no guidance--just silence and assumption. Although the situation was eventually resolved, we didn't feel valued as customers. We didn't expect over-the-top service, just clear communication and a little appreciation. It feels like they're too busy to care about local customers, which is disappointing. We live just five minutes away and were excited to bring our family here instead of a big chain like Starbucks, hoping to support a local business. Unfortunately, this experience ruined what should have been a nice outing. I wouldn't recommend this place. The disorganization, poor communication, and lack of basic customer service make it not worth the time or money.
