This place has some charm! I love the outdoor seating that allows you to sit, sip coffee, and take in the energy of Kaimuki. Once you walk in, they have an eclectic decor with a mishmash of photos, paintings, and pictures. The layout is unusual, with little nooks and crannies where tables and chairs are situated - the inside is much larger than it seems from the outside. There's a system for ordering. The line is positioned to the left of the register, and once you order, you step to the right and wait for your drinks/food and payment. They offer a stamp card where you can get a free drink after 10 purchased drinks. I don't enjoy my coffee black, but the nitro cold brew...OH MY! That's the smoothest nitro I've ever had. There's a creamy head that leaves you feeling satisfied. I love enjoying a nitro cold brew, while sitting on an outside table, facing Wai`alae Avenue, and watching the cars and people go by - it's my favorite part of my day. read more

A staple in the Kaimuki community--Coffee Talk is a legend when it comes to a local business well loved by all. Sunday morning rituals for the boyfriend and I now include supporting a different local coffee shop and exploring the neighborhood it resides in. What better way to kick off the new year than with a visit to my fave neighborhood, Kaimuki. We stopped by around 10am and luckily got here right on time. We arrived at the start of their morning rush. Hot tip: get a look at their menu beforehand--this place has a bountiful menu with so many options to choose from. From lattes and Americanos, to cappuccinos and cold brews, I was a bit overwhelmed at first. This place also has a large selection of baked goods ranging from savory quiches to sweet pastries, and cookies. Come hungry! All in all this place is great (and definitely popular). I ordered a lavender latte and loved every sip of my drink. I Always go here to study since there's lots of seats and tables, and a pretty good atmosphere to do work at. I Always got there dirty chai latte and lox bagel. Despite being a frequent customer, the owner saw my table only with a cup of water and assumed I didn't order anything despite ordering a breakfast sandwich I finished a few minutes ago and putting the dirty dishes away. They approached me and asked me to let them know if I'd like to order anything. This came across super rude and offensive considering she had to approach me to order assuming I came in here to not order anything despite already ordering. Local coffee shops are often great hubs for a community, and Coffee Talk definitely is an important spot for Kaimuki. Aside from coffee, if you love freshly made muffins, quiches, and more, you should definitely check them out. Their muffins are unique, they let the muffin top crisp up and bake over the pan, making those fluffy treats a favorite of mine. If you need to meet a friend (or blind date??), change up your study spot, or just want to support local, stop by! Freshly made food, and a local spot, check them out! (They even have a stamp card to reward frequent visits!) PS: You can park in a metered spot, or the lots around are paid parking but very inexpensive. The Kaimuki meter maids are pretty good at their job, so bring some extra quarters if you end up finding a metered spot. One almost ticketed me for double parking to quickly run in to get a coffee, so be forewarned! read more

Went tonight to "Talk", and got drinks for me and my better half. I got the Curry-mezcal drink, and she got the Moshi Moshi...WOW! Incredibly good flavors, perfectly mixed. Their drink menu is pretty varied, and their cocktails look incredible from every one I saw. Food menu is a bit sparse, so eat beforehand, but otherwise, I'd strongly encourage you to visit this place for drinks with your special person, or your friends to celebrate. I'll definitely be returning. 5/5 stars! *I love Coffee Talk, and have been a patron there for years, but this was my first time there for their nighttime drinks. read more

More of a place to vibe and study, but a nice, chill cafe to hang out at if you are waiting for Koko Head Cafe like we did. Make sure you have your vaccine cards and IDs if you plan to stay and sit inside. Under the specialty drinks, I got the Nutella Latte which tasted more latte the nutella. My partner got the Thai-Dee Haupia Latte with nitro which was good at first, but was mostly syrup at the bottom, so make sure you stir in between sips. You can do nitro on any of the lattes which is nice. If you are looking for parking, depending on the day, on the street could be free. Otherwise, there's a cheap paid parking across the street that we did. Overall, definitely a place students could go to to study. read more

I like this place a lot - nice atmosphere, prices are better than Kona/Honolulu coffee, and it tastes good. Also some good pastry options. However, I think the ordering process is pretty chaotic. If customers could pay when they ordered, and give a name or get a number on receipt, we could get out of the way and let more orders proceed. Instead customers are left to work it out together who is next, who has already ordered. I think Talk's approach to order-taking is also causing drinks to come out wrong about 20% of the time. The constant mode switching from taking orders to making coffee would be tricky for anybody, so I'm not surprised that drinks sometimes come out without sweeteners or whatever. I need to make a habit of tasting the drink before I leave I guess :\ read more

I can't believe I haven't walked into this coffee shop called - "Coffee Talk", especially since I grew up in Kaimuki town, and the Kaimuki neighborhood was my playground as a kid. This past Sunday I was finally able to try Coffee Talk after having breakfast, as my friend & I needed more coffee. What can say about this coffee shop? They must have been doing something right, as this large spacious coffee shop has been around since 1992. Upon walking into the shop, we were greeted right away and I ended up ordering a house blend coffee & my friend ordered an ice coffee. If you're not into coffee, they do sell other items here like baked goods/pastries, acai bowls, sandwiches, salads, breakfast oatmeal, yogurt, teas, smoothies, Italian sodas, hot chocolate, & fresh juices. Pretty cool/chill spot to relax, have a great cup of Joe, talk story, people watch, or do work. Parking - Unfortunately this business does not have any parking, but not to fret gang, as there is metered street parking around the neighborhood, or you can park in the Kaimuki municipal parking lot. If you're lucky enough, there are some spots within Kaimuki town where you can park for free, but you just gotta know where the spots are. ;) I recommend this coffee shop if you're hangin' out in the Kaimuki area. I am not the biggest coffee drinker but while visiting the area, my roomie and I felt pretty lucky to have stumbled upon this gem. Had a great chai latte, which must've been really good, especially considering I don't really like coffee and really enjoyed the atmosphere. In addition do coffee, tea, and pastries, they also sell se other goodies. Saw an IG post about Talk, which Coffee Talk turns into from Thursday to Saturday at 6pm. Got there when they opened on a Thursday, and we had our choice of seating (counter, bar stools/tables, regular dining tables and chairs). It's great for small groups, but larger than 4 people will require negotiating seats and squeezing around a small table. Service was initially great. Our server made great recommendations for drinks based on our preferences and food. When our one slice of pizza came out, the person who brought it to the table asked if we wanted the kitchen to cut it. Waters were filled, and we were checked on. As the restaurant got busier (we were there until 9:00), we had to eventually wave servers down to order dessert and walked up to the bar to pay our check. Food was delicious! If you loved grilled cheese and juice as a kid, Talk is the place to be for grown-up versions. We had the pesto grilled cheese and the truffle grilled cheese. The latter left such an impression that I craved it the next day. For both sandwiches, I especially love that it's on focaccia from Kaimuki's Breadshop...love when local businesses support one another . We especially went for their variety pizza, which was the focus of their recent IG post. However, we were disappointed that they were only offering one type of pizza (pepperoni and pineapple)...bummers. Yet, we ordered a slice ($8) and enjoyed it, though if that was all one would eat, you might need to order 1 or 2 more, as the slices are on the smaller side. The pineapple had a tasty sweet char to it, which balanced the saltiness of the pepperoni. We also had their tiramisu with tiramisu liqueur. It actually is served as a tiramisu in a bowl and you need to dig out the center and pour in the liqueur. The cup was filled to the top, which made it difficult to not spill/waste. It was a decadent way to end dinner. Definitely returning for the truffle grilled cheese and to try more of their cocktails. I would like to see them post on IG what pizza is being served for the day, especially as we were told it can change from day to day based on what their chef wants to do. My husband and I have been meaning to come here every time we visit the area, but for some reason it is always super busy. And I know why, this place is great! We finally got here on the early side and the line wasn't too bad. The staff was super friendly and they had a large selection of different seasonal flavors. We ordered a Caramel Snickerdoodle and a couple cold brews. All of the coffees were great and not too sweet. We also ordered the quiche, croissant sandwich and bagel sandwich for breakfast. These breakfast goodies were so yummy! Great start to the morning! Definitely coming back here the next time we are in Kaimuki. Love it! read more

Cute spot, unremarkable coffee. Your chill local coffee shop with rustic decor. We hung out with friends in the cave-isque backroom and it was a good spot. The coffee, on the other hand, is very overpriced for its quality. They have a pretty extensive specialty coffee menu, but mind you it's the same expresso base which just isn't good quality coffee. Honestly huge waste of money. I don't know how 4 cups of coffee 3 bagels and a turkey sandwich are $100. The ambiance was okay, and the service was horrible. I don't know how 3 bagels need 15 minutes to get ready and on top of that in plastic plates thinking it's to go when we told them it's for here. The girls are in a different world I asked for salt and they didn't know where to find it, let alone not know their own menu or understand simple requests. There's a great variety of drinks to choose from and they also have fresh juices as well! I got their lilikoi juice and it was very refreshing - sweet, yet tart, and tasted fresh. They also have a ton of pastries on display that look soooooo appetizing. I got their vegan oat cake which wasn't sweet at all and tasted very hearty. Loved this coffee shop so much that I returned twice on my trip in Oahu. The decor was cool and there was a lot of space to sit and chill. They had such a large selection of drinks and it was so hard to choose. The first time, I tried their fresh lilikoi juice and it was so refreshing and sweet. The second time I visited, I got a lavender vanilla latte and a chocolate chip scone. Both were sweet, but not overly sweet. The chocolate chip scone was great, but wasn't anything special. I always crave the croissant "breakfast sammie" in the mornings. I usually order it with avocado, tomato, spinach, and ham. It's a bit pricy but it also made its way into my morning routine. Coffee talk also has a variety of specialty coffees to order from. I've had the red velvet, cake, Nutella, and cinnamon iced lattes. I never came across a coffee that I didn't like from Coffee Talk. Although, I'm pretty sure they mixed up my red velvet and Nutella coffee once. It wasn't a big deal since it was my boyfriends coffee anyways. Came in on a Thursday morning between 8:30-9, wasn't that crowded. There were alot of baked goods to choose from. I was thinking to get a quiche, but decided on a breakfast sammie. You could get the sammie on a bagel or croissant. I also decided to get a bread pudding for my dad at home since he likes bread pudding and not alot of places make it(or at least I know of). There was also a list of different drinks on a board besides the "normal cafe drinks". I decided to try the Thai cold brew latte. Drink and food came out pretty fast. I didnt really see the lady cut the bread pudding but when I got home and took it out of the bag, it was huge, didnt expect that big of a piece. The sammie was nice and toasty-cheese was melted, ham tasted like ham, spinach could have had some salt and pepper on it for a little flavor, & egg was soft. My drink was good, I do like to drink Thai coffee, but some places make it too sweet(too much condensed milk), but for me this one had enough sweetness. Next time I would like to try another sandwich or maybe the quiche with Portuguese sausage and another drink. read more

It's a nice place to meet up with a friend or just to have a coffee by myself. I parked across the street in the Kaimuki Municipal Parking lot so it was easy and the rate is low so I was able to enjoy and relax at Coffee Talk. It had high ceiling and cute orbs hanging down like planets. So it felt like there's more room. There are many tables for 2 to 4 people and they were little apart or had clear partitions. So feels safe and I was able to enjoy my coffee with my friend. I had americano ($4.00) and delicious coffee cake (Coffee Toffee Chocolate Chip Coffee Cake $4.50). Americano came in a big cup and the coffee cake was huge! I loved it. Coffee cake wasn't too sweet so I liked it. Top crumbly part was tasty and chocolate chips gave me smile. Great partner with coffee. Seating area and restroom were clean and cute. It was not noisy so it'll be also nice to have a coffee by myself and relax. Walking into this establishment there is a long line and huge amount of drinks written on their board. Cake batter almond vanilla latte, should have been the first sign this wasn't a good coffee shop. I get up there to order and tell the barista I want a cafe au latte and a bagel with butter. House coffee with steamed milk. She starts pouring an espresso which I then say "oh not a latte it's house coffee" and a rude I know is told so I'm thinking maybe this isn't my drink. I receive the drink which is boiling hot and my bagel with a attitude filled bye. I take a sip of the coffee when I'm able to and it's burnt taste terrible and the bagel had no butter. My friend got a match which was just baking match full of sugar. So no I don't suggest. A lot of baked goods tho. read more

This coffee shop has been in kaimuki for ages and our favorite Sunday go to place for coffee! It's usually a little crowded when we go but it's nice to see after we heard that their traffic was way down due to covid. We've been trying to support local more often and buying from local coffee shops is one way we've been doing so! The service is always friendly and the coffee is great. We usually get the Thai iced coffee but they have a whole bunch of specialty coffees/drinks. They also have dairy alternatives for those who are lactose intolerant. I would say the pricing is average. It's a great place to have a cup of coffee during some down time or even if you want to get some studying in, there's plenty of seating. Pastries are fresh and served warm. The pastrami sandwich is delicious and served hot. This coffee shop came recommended by a friend, and since I was in the area, I decided to check it out and super glad I did. Perfect place for me to get my paperwork together and have a small bite before for a meeting. Loved how relaxed this shop is, it's so roomy with lots of tables. You need to place your order at the counter, they sell coffee, teas, hot chocolate, assorted pasties, salads, hot and cold sandwiches and light pick me up snacks. I took a seat, and the friendly Barista walked my order to my table, that was so nice of her! I ordered a hot chocolate, and a blueberry muffin, both of which hit the spot and just what I needed to get my morning going. The muffin was huge and loaded with blueberries, they served my meal in such cute retro dishes to match their overall décor. Came back again a few hours later and got lunch. I ordered the hot pastrami sandwich, and a strawberry Italian soda. I enjoyed this just as much as the breakfast I had earlier. The sandwich was thin, but so full of flavor and the right portion for a light lunch in-between meetings. Limited street parking, or there are a couple of close by parking lots for a decent fee. The prices are way too expensive for what you get, and since they remodeled you can't even see how much everything is till after you order it. There's one older blond lady who is here everytime, maybe an owner or a manager. And she genuinely will make fun of your order to your face. She body shamed me and then laughed in my face when reading back mine and my friends order last time I came. FYI don't get mayo on your sandwich... they apparently think that's gross and will make you feel bad for it.
