I went there for a front end alignment and when the tech came out I knew something was off! They tried to get me to buy things that I did not need!!!! I told them to get my truck out of there and took it to my mechanic and he confirmed I did NOT need the extra work they suggested!!! So besides taking my truck elsewhere for the alignment it's safe to say I will not be returning to Tallmans....get richer off some other gullible person!!! read more

If you're worried about mechanics overcharging or making up repairs etc, I would trust this place the most to not engage in that type of nefarious activity. The shop owner went out of their way to help me when I was stranded with a flat tire and got me pumped up and back on the road without charging me anything. Made an alignment appointment for my son in law. Alignment appointment was made online. The online verification only stated ALIGNMENT! This appointment was made at the recommendation of another Outstanding garage. The garage that did the recommendation had completed ALL work and had inspected the car. The ONLY thing that the car was in need of was an alignment. TWO DAYS LATER, I OPENED UP MY CREDIT CARD STATEMENT TO SEE A $462 charge! I contact my son-in-law he tells me that they told him he needed two rear tires. Their argument is, they said my son-in-law says he needed two tires and an alignment! This is nonsense! What garage takes two PERFECTLY GOOD TIRES off of a car and replaces them? Oh, and for the record, these tires were just bought last February. They were less than a year old. I bought these tires from Tallmans in Rome. I thought I was dealing with a stand-up business. I guess I was wrong!!! read more

Still horrible. Called Friday to get the free tire rotation was told bring it down Monday, showed up Monday, was told I needed an appointment. This is not a good customer service oriented tire place and it was a free rotation so they were not making money on me. read more

Had the worst experience ever I called the day before for just an alignment, He gave me a quote with tax. I brought my car in the following day an was quoted a $60 more an when I asked why he replied what did he price it on the phone I proceeded to tell him an he goes ok we can go with that, now when I came back to to pick my car up he told me he couldn't do the alignment cause my tie rods were all bent which I knew was not true. I ended up driving my Cadillac to the dealer to get an alignment an they were kind enough to let me take pictures of the tie rods ,nothing was bent . They were able to get the alignment done saved hundreds of dollars . I will be calling the state inspectors read more

Tallman's skilled and personable staff is led by manager Christian Bjork whom I call "Doctor". I have two older cars [ a 2008 Audi TT convertible (AWD) and a 2006 BMW 530xi Sport Wagon - AWD(rare) ]. On our way home to Ontario, Canada from a wonderful girl's weekend with my sister to Cape Cod my motorhome tire exploded on the highway leaving us stranded. I called the local police, my CAA, Walmart and every single tire and vehicle repair company, nobody would help us. After a few hours and many tears later Tallman's rescued us, they arranged for us to have the first appointment of the day, quickly replaced 2 damaged tires, provided us hot coffee and were such gentlemen. Will not ever return to this location. I made an appointment one day prior and showed up to find out they knew nothing about it and said I must've called another location, after checking and showing them my phone it was in fact that location. Funny thing is, not a single apology even after I told them this wasn't the first time this has happened.... and this from the manager Scott himself. Customer service needs some work. Prices have always been cheaper so I've overlooked issues in the past. There have been many but i won't make this into a whole story. I'd rather pay more elsewhere for better service now EDIT:: Utica location on Genesee St. near Burrstone Road has much better customer service and I recommend going there instead. I called ahead, scheduled an appointment for an inspection because I didn't want to be sitting around all day for an inspection... they made me sit around for an hour and a half when I arrived on time then they refused to inspect my vehicle and then accused ME of wasting THEIR time. The irony is pretty fucking outlandish. Fuck this. Not cool. Not how you earn my long term business. I went to Midas down the street my vehicle was in the bay in 5 minutes. At first I thought they were OK. I brought a trailer to them to have tires replaced. They matched the price I could pay for tires elsewhere and charged a reasonable amount for labor. Groovy. Then when I got the trailer back, the license plate bracket was missing. They didn't call me, I had to go back. The manager picked up the bracket from the guy's bench and handed it to me, so it wasn't a mystery. The clown just unbolted it and STOLE it. There's no reason to have touched the bracket to put tires on or off. It's a nifty hinged design that keeps the plate legible and keeps it from scraping on the pavement even when the bed is tilted; it probably seemed attractive. I had to put it back on myself. After being antagonized then thoroughly humiliated by this young man, I suspected he must be a family member because of his sense of entitlement to treat people anyway he pleased. Anyone who worried about keeping a job in the current economic crises clearly would not speak to a person in their store the way I was spoken to. I was very upset and I asked this boy if he was a family member in which he admitted to being. Is it common practice to antagonize customers because that is exactly what was done to me. I believe there is a total disrespect for women in this store. I regret that I can't say one nice thing about my entire experience from the time I walked in until the time I left. Retired fleet mechanic here. Take note. I would rate service from Tallman s a zero if site would let me. Went in for a 4 wheel alignment last summer because my rear tires were wearing badly and noisy with only 14800 miles on them.. Was told I needed kits to align vehicle properly. was charged $76 and scheduled a second appointment. Was then charged an additional $61 and told kits were not available for my car but they were able to align it within specs. Now, 11,700 miles later (26,500) my rear tires were so badly scalloped the noise was unbearable, plus, my front right front tire was close to being illegal. Left front was still good. Had tires replaced last Friday and today had another alignment elsewhere. Was told all 4 wheels were badly out of spec and that the rear camber problem was easily correctable with an after market part. Car is now quite, drives straight as an arrow and finally fixed properly. Not to mention that Tallman s over tightened my wheels to the point I needed a breaker bar and pipe extension to crack them loose. Torque is 79 ft pounds you stupid retards. Not 220. So much for reliable service. All the good ratings here are from people who are ignorant. Hope you don t get a flat cause your weels are air wrenched on so tight you will never be able to change one without calling triple AAA. Providing if it doesn t wear out first. I had my car aligned here and after I got it back, I noticed that one of my tie rod sleeves was loose, so I tightened it myself. About a year later I went back again for another alignment and to have front shocks installed. When I got the car back, The tops of the shocks weren't even connected to the shock towers! Also after just a few months the alignment had become way off. After bringing it to a different mechanic, he noticed that a tie rod sleeve was loose, and had slipped, stripping the threads off my new tie rod. Not only is this a costly error, but completely UNSAFE! Their prices are reasonable, but the quality of work is atrocious. I would recommend that no one brings their vehicle here for service. read more

I brought my car to Tallman's due to a flat tire. Before going to Tallman's I had the full sized spare tire put on the car and the flat tire placed where the spare is kept under the car. Steve recommended that all 4 tires be replaced in order to maintain a similar tread on my all wheel drive vehicle. Since several of the tires being replaced were still in good shape with a tread greater than 6 we agreed that one of those tires would be put under the car as its spare where the flat tire was currently located. When I picked up my car and drove away I noticed the indicator light was on that signaled low air in a tire. I returned to Tallman's and pointed this out. They said it would likely go away after I drove it a bit. Later that week I drove home (240 miles away) and brought my car to the dealer because the light was still on. They informed me that the original flat tire remained in the spare site. I had to purchase a new tire as a spare since Tallman's had failed to place a good tire in that spot as agreed upon. I contacted Tallman's by phone and letter, described what happened, and asked if they would contribute even a nominal amount toward the cost of a new tire which would not have been needed had they done what they agreed to do. They acknowledged that a different tire should have been placed in the spare site but ignored my request for any compensation. I understand mistakes happen but their unwillingness to help rectify a mistake was negligent and unprofessional and quite costly for me. read more

I just had Tallmans attempt to mount snow tires (which I already had) on my 2013 car. Having the car information in advance, Tallmans ordered the rims, Tallmans ordered the tire pressure sensors (now required). I made an appointment and Tallmans mounted & installed the tires. They were unable to get the tire pressure sensors to fully communicate with the car. I was stuck at Tallmans for 3-1/2 hours -- but they could not finish the job. When I asked if they could undo everything they did, keep the parts they supplies and return my money (sadly, I paid in advance the previous week when they ordered the rims & sensors). They refused -- after being stuck there for 3-1/2 hours and the job still not done -- I was told I was being unreasonable. Using parts Tallmans supplied and installed, it still did not work -- with 3-1/2 hours to install snow tires, these experts could not do the job (which they charged me for). Now, I have to go to the car dealer and hope they can fix the problem. read more
