The food here is VERY good. They have fresh, huge, yummy breakfast burritos all day. My SO had the tamales and said they were very light and delicious - not too soggy/cakey. They have a counter that you walk up to to order and they have part of their menu on the wall overhead, but they have a full menu so be sure and ask for that. For example, we wanted to know if they have quesadillas for our 5-yr-old and they did - on the menu. There is an ample amount of seating available, though it's not in the best condition. Even though this is in a strip mall, I still consider this a hole-in-the-wall type of place - which we love! On the negative side, the guy at the counter was downright rude to us. I want to start off by saying the food is tasty and quick and efficient. This is why it got two stars. Why it didn't get the rest: they can never get the order correct. I am not a huge fan of their green chili so I always ask for my breakfast burrito without and add cheese. Nearly every time, they mess it up and just put chili in there and ruins the burrito every time for me. I'm sorry I don't like my burritos drenched in something I asked specifically not to have put in, but please respect my choice and either do so, or tell me I'm not able to. Don't just say ok and then ignore me. Also, they charge me to add cheese and half the time never put it in there. With the burrito mess ups, this time I decided for two mild tamales. When I got home to eat, they were ICE COLD. Not just not warm anymore, they were almost completely frozen. Not sure how that happens unless you're microwaving your food... never again! Me and my boyfriend come here all the time! The smothered burritos are so so good, definitely recommend the steak burrito smothered! The taco plates are also super good! Awesome tamales! My partner is a snob when it comes to tamales since he grew up eating authentic ones for every family gathering and he LOVED these as did I! We tried the red, green and vegetarian options and loved all of them. They're priced really competitively and it makes the experience so much better! This place has okay food and horrible customer service When i ordered my meal the lady was rushing me as i was asking about the food. Their wasn't even anyone behind me i ordered a combo mea which came with rice beans a tamale sauce a drink and tortilla. It came out very fast. Tamale kitchen is perfect for a quick lunch, especially if you are craving tasty smothered chili rellenos! They have yummy green chili (a bit of a kick which I like), fresh salsa and refried beans. It is counter service and has a "get your own soda" station so refills are easy. I know they are the "tamale kitchen" but I find the rellenos to be the most delicious thing on the menu. Worst customer service ever. There's signs all over the restaurant treating people like a lailhouse. Including Water cups for water only. You can purchase soda cups. Also a big sign reserving the right to refuse service to anyone. The third and funniest was the no cell phone use during ordering when I had to wait 2 minutes for the cashier to finish her text message, the excuse was IM TALKING TO THE BOSS. I also did not received a receipt and my food was just getting cold since I didn't have a number. Very rude people. Seems as they do not want your business. I will not be coming back again. Ive been eating here for years, and have been thoroughly pleased like, 95% of the time. typically i get a special (green chili inside) egg, potato and bacon burrito. deeelicious! oh, they have the best bacon ever, and their green chili is great. i never have a problem with the temperature, lack of ingredients, or value for my dollar. So I am a Tamale Kitchen fan, however this location has some cleaning issues. I recently observed pieces of crusty tortilla stuck to the side of the soda machine and really dirty floors. The icing on the cake was standing in line one morning to place my order and watching the cook start cleaning the overhead vents with a rag with open pots below him on the grill cooking food. I stepped out of line and made the long drive to the one on Kipling and Belleview. This place could be much better with some floor and counter re-work. Also towards the back of the place, looks like an open storage shed for the misc junk items, think about closing that off from customer viewing. read more

I wish I could give a negative 10 review. We placed a large order were very specific as to what we wanted asked for it to be repeated back and the entire order was completely wrong. I called in to let them know each item was not correct. I was instructed that I would need to return every item and the they would attempt to correct the order. We have a small child that cannot have green chile on his burrito as well as another person in our household that is severely allergic to pork. She went into anaphylactic shock. The very rude person we spoke with didn't seem to care. I will never order from this place again and will be contacting my attorney regarding the risks my friend was put at. I have really tried to give this place plenty of chances. I have been here weekly the last 2 months. Today, I am officially done. My coworker brings burritos in on Saturdays from the 104th location. They are on point!!! I always get extra hot bacon. I sometimes get the hiccups from the heat. They are a nice mix of bacon,chili,cheese, and potato. Highlands Ranch, not so much. I am not sure if it's the demographics or training. These two places are like day and night. Most of the time the breakfast burritos are about 80-90% potatoes. The rest is a small amount of egg and over cooked bacon. I am pretty sure mass amounts of chopped bacon sit in a bin on their prep table all day. They should call their breakfast burritos "Potato Burritos". The chili in Highlands Ranch at best is medium. Nothing like the hot at 104th. Today's visit was a deal breaker. I ordered an extra hot bacon breakfast burrito. Two bites in chili flavored potatoes, zero bacon. Maybe about 4 or five small chunks of egg. Best part, they charged me extra for the extra hot. So here lies an almost $4 burrito with pretty much nothing but potatoes. LAME! Place is kinda dirty. I question the cook that wears the same gloves for food and touching dirty plates. I guess I will need to find a new spot to get my fix. I will keep buttering up my coworker to bring me yummy burritos from the 104th location. P.S. not sure if it a weekend thing or early thing. Since we moved here I've been searching for a good burrito mojado (smothered burrito) and was eager to try Tamale Kitchen's chorizo breakfast burrito. Unfortunately, I will still be searching. The sauce used to smother the burrito was very spicy. Not the flavorful kind of spicy, but the kind that burns your mouth so much all other flavors go away. The burrito filling was comprised of potato, egg, and chorizo and it was over cooked and dry. I felt like I was getting yesterday's leftovers reheated. I tried their house salsa on the mix and, while it was good salsa, it couldn't help the filling. I gave up completely when I spotted a hair in the mix. Game over and 3/4 of a burrito in the trash. I also had purchased their flan to try and while it tasted okay, there was nothing that said authentic about it. I really had high hopes for this place, but I won't be going back. read more
