I'm not a huge fan of tamales. Mostly because anytime I've bought them it's al dough. The inside is hardly stuffed with any meat or cheese or beans. If I wanted dough, I'd eat bread or a tortilla. The tamales here are pretty descent though. Good size and the filling is a good portion. The red salsa pork and green salsa chicken tamales have great flavor! My favorite are the jalapeño and cheese tamales. It's hit or miss when it comes to the spice though. But the jalapeños do still add great flavor to the tamal. The ladies working there are so welcoming with smiles on their faces and working fast t get everyone taken care of during the busy rush hours. They include red chili pork, mole chicken, green chili chicken, bean & cheese, jalapeno cheese, sweet raisin, and sweet pineapple. When I was there around noon on a Saturday, they only had a few flavors left. I ordered their green chili chicken lunch place with comes with 2 tamales, a side of beans and rice all for $11! The tamales was moist which goes good with their secret red and green sauce. The shredded chicken inside was plentiful and flavorful. For the price and amount of food, it's worth it. The owners are very nice. They also have a to-go cart outside but at that time I was there, no one was manning it. I would come back in a heartbeat. Picked them up, the place is so cute, it smelled amazing it immediately brought memories of my abuelita's kitchen when she made hand fresh tortillas. That smell of fresh masa from fresh crushed maíz. This is kind of a hole in the wall with no inside dining. A bit hard to find too. You order your tamales and then take them home. But it was a revelation for me and turned what I thought I knew about tamales upside down. Some examples: 1) none of their masa (the corn mixture) has lard in it! I always thought lard was an essential ingredient, but these tamales were delicious! Perfectly seasoned and moist. At $2.75 a tamale, they're a steal! 2) these are large tamales, there's no way, I could eat more than two. 3) I always thought the meat filling determined how good a tamale was. Not here! All the meat fillings were delicious, but the star is the perfectly made masa! Tamales Mana is open 6am until 2pm (Monday thru Saturday). They are closed on Sundays. The woman told me they accept credit cards, but I noticed everyone giving them cash. (I had cash, so I used it too.) I ended up buying 2 each of the three different meat tamales, 1 chorizo, and 1 bean and cheese. I liked the chicken in mole and the green chicken the best. The bean and cheese was ok, but the chorizo was very Lime-y. But it was good. The beans and rice were just ok. I would stick with the tamales. Again, I will stick with the chicken tamales. We ordered the lunch special and I would totally recommend it but you should get your order in as soon as you can because they were already out of the Chicken Mole tamales at 12. The masa is great. The beans are just okay but the tamales were pretty great. I'd go back. I also loved that the containers were paper, there were tons of ways to get them to cater, a ton of choices of meat, parking was easy, the whole place looked clean and the staff was friendly.
