We dined at Tamara's Downtown on April 12, 2026, around 5:10 PM, and overall I'd describe the experience as good, not great. First off, the ambiance is very nice--comfortable, welcoming, and a great setting for a casual evening out. The service was also very good. Our server was attentive and friendly, which definitely made a positive impression. As for the food: * Raw oysters ($22): Fresh, plump, and overall very good quality. That said, it almost felt like each oyster had a bit of added salt, which threw me off a little. Not bad, just slightly off from what I'd expect. * Sushi-grade ahi tuna appetizer ($14): This was one of the highlights--very good flavor and nicely prepared. * Gumbo (large - $12): Probably the biggest disappointment. I'd rate it about a 5/10. It wasn't terrible, but it lacked depth and richness compared to what you'd expect in this region. * Happy hour mimosa ($3) and margarita ($6): Solid for the price--no complaints there. Total came out to about $62 cash ($64.30 with card fee), which feels reasonable for what we ordered. Overall, this is a place I'd come back to if I were already in the area and someone suggested it, but not somewhere I'd go out of my way for. If I did return, it would likely be for the oysters or the ahi tuna. Good experience, just not quite memorable enough to push it past three stars.

Our last visit as we are moving back to Georgia. On a Saturday at 5:15 pm the service by Jamey was very good all night. We ordered drinks, followed by the fried green tomatoes as an appetizer, it was very tasty, great flavor and textures with the breading and the crab on top was a very nice touch. Next she had crab cakes entree and I had the grouper. The grouper was cooked perfectly the panko crust was tasty. The gouda potatoes and spinach was a nice compliment to the grouper. Her crabcakes were tasty and she enjoyed them. We have had many enjoyable meals here during our 18 months in the area.

Anniversary dinner was all of that and a bag of .... Well, not chips. But crab claws. Yes. Food was so good and the service with Jamie was outstanding. Everything we put in our mouth was seasoned well. Good and hot. From the sautéed crab claws appetizer to the gumbo soup and crab cakes. Even the bread pudding was fabulous. We have not returned for some years. So glad we are back. TIL next time

My wife and I had brunch on Saturday morning. We got there just before they opened and stood outside with 2 other groups of people waiting to get in. By the time we left, the place was packed. Prince was our waiter and he did an excellent job. I had the Chicken & Waffles with a side of Bacon and Gouda Grits and the Bloody Mary Bar. My wife had the Crab Cake Eggs Benedict and a Mimosa. The food and drinks were delicious. We sat in the bar area and I noticed they had a nice selection of bourbons.

We ate here twice last weekend. Friday night was very busy but the staff kept up pretty well. ( line at the door busy).I had a Martini that was perfect and my wife tried a couple of specialty drinks she liked. There is a great happy hour from 3-5:30( memory here). Bottle beer was $3.00 and apps were ony $6.00. I had the Tuna and she had the Salmon for dinner . Both were perfectly cooked and delicious. My only criticism was the Risotto.....slightly overcooked but still tasty. The next night we came in after a wedding and sat at the bar. Quick and friendly bar staff. I had fried shrimp and she had a grilled shrimp salad. I am from the Mississippi Gulf coast and very picky about my shrimp cook and these were great. Not over cook like I see at many places and the seasoning was on point,,,,,both fried and grilled. We will definitely go again when we are in the area.

Came in for brunch on mardi gras parade day. Cameron was there and all dressed up. Butler was behind the bar as well. Food was delicious and I had a mystic mule made with crown blackberry it was delicious! Side salad was drenched in dressing next time I'll ask for it on the side. Shrimp and grits were amazing and omelet had peppers onion mushrooms and delicious large shrimp. They had a Bloody Mary bar set up. Staff is always friendly and the place is top notch clean.

First time to visit. Had a great experience. We had an appetizer (avocado fries) and sea bass & 8oz filet for our dinner. The food had a very good flavor and served at the appropriate temperature. The restaurant was busy so service was slow to begin with, but Sarah, our server, was very attentive. It is a casual setting with a few televisions view while dining. We would definitely recommend and visit again if in the area.

I had out-of-town visitors that wanted to try a variety of seafood. Tamara's has a great variety of food and even happy hour drinks. We all had something a little different, but we were all very pleased with our entrées. We started off with raw oysters and oysters Rockefeller that were amazing. I had the seafood platter that was cooked to perfection and so much food that I had to take half of it home. The special was a triple tail fish that not only tasted delicious but looked as good as it tasted. Two of the entrées came with the Gouda mashed potatoes and you couldn't beat the flavor. It was definitely busy but our server was very attentive and made our night one to remember.

Tamara's was a very nice surprise for our girls party of 6. Accommodated us quickly, and the service was wonderful. She Crab Soup was on the menu and I encouraged the ladies to try it. They are family from the west coast. They loved it! We enjoyed a bottle of champagne with three juices to make mimosas. The fried green tomatoes with crab were fabulous! Highly recommend Tamara's!

Oh my goodness!! It was so good. The Bloody Mary bar was well stocked, and the dishes were served in a timely manner. The servings were way more than I can eat but several finished their plates. It's unique and worth trying out. read more

The restaurant is very pretty, nicely decorated and the service was amazing but the food was anything but. I had a chicken sandwich and the chicken was so tough. I couldn't bite through it and the bottom bun was soaking wet and I couldn't even eat it. The focaccia bread that it was on was hard and stale. read more

New favorite restaurant in Fairhope! We dined here for a late lunch around 2:30 on Saturday after an exhausting day of car shopping and it was one of the best dining experiences we have had in Baldwin county. Service was top notch and my drink was never empty (heavy drinker and drank 5 teas), waitress was super friendly and helpful but never in the way. I got the garden chicken pasta with linguine and alfredo sauce with a ceaser salad, but were super fresh and flavorful. My husband got the burger and fries, he said it was delicious as well. We will definitely be back and look forward to trying brunch next time. read more

Okay Tamaras definitely did not disappoint on our second try. I got the club sandwich and clam chowder. Something about the chowder that I just love. The club is gigantic and easily one of the best in the area. My husband got his buffalo chicken sandwich and it was spot on this time. Definitely will keep trying items from the huge menu! They have something for everyone!!! And I'm so curious about the brunch every time we pass there is a huge crowd waiting. read more

We had a party of 8. We were seated quickly. The decor is so fun. The art hanging from the ceiling adds depth to the eating area. Tamara's specializes in seafood, so they didn't have many vegetarian options. Everyone one said their seafood was delicious. The brie appetizer was delicious. I also ordered fried green tomatoes without the seafood, a spinach salad workout bacon, gouda mashed potatoes, and fried Brussel sprouts. The fried green tomatoes came out with the seafood. I sent it back and explained that I'm vegetarian. They were replaced quickly without issue. Then, my salad came out with warm bacon dressing. Our waitress was very apologetic. I canceled the salad and just got bread pudding for dessert. The bread pudding was good so I think I made a wise choice. The gouda grits and Brussel sprouts were delicious as well. We had a very good white pinot noir with our dinner. Beside the kitchen issues, we had a great meal in a cool environment. read more

Can not say enough good things about the food ,atmosphere, and our wonderful server Daniel. We started with 1/2 lb. of fried crab claws Amazing! I had a cup of chili. Again amazing! And we split a turkey wrap. Again again amazing!! We had a relaxing lunch and Daniel was so nice and attentive. He is a wonderful asset for Tamara's. Thank you we love Tamara's and keep coming back every month or so just to eat here. Oh yes how could I forget the Bread Pudding(just like Grandma makes) with Bourbon sauce served warm. We never order dessert but Daniel and his dessert menu were to hard to resist. read more

We were in Point Clear for the weekend and decided to order brunch from Tamara's. I am so glad that we did. When you order from a delivery service, quality can sometimes be a gamble. Well, is wasn't this time. I ordered my hubby eggs benedict with filet mignon. It arrived hot and nicely packaged. It included fresh fruit, a blueberry scone, and a generous cooked to order filet. The eggs were still hot and beautifully poached. I had the prime rib and poached eggs. It was the best prime rib that I have ever had. I'm a carnivore so that is saying a lot. Traditionally, I would order prime rib elsewhere and immediately ask for au jus or horseradish. This prime rib was actually seasoned prior to being cooked. It was perfectly medium rare, juicy, tender and tasty. Don't sleep on this treasure. You will not be disappointed and your taste buds will be singing. read more

We are a 5th generation Fairhope family, just moving back home after 22 years abroad. We discovered the great assortment of appetizers, a wonderful selection of cocktails and wine, and an extensive entree menu at Tamara's. For libations we had the Wonder Woman, an Old Fashion, and a Key Lime Martini to drink. All three were excellently crafted. Brussel Sprouts and crab artichoke dip made for an extensive appetizer. Our entree consisted of Oysters Rockefeller and Garlic Parmesan Oysters- both were really good. Tamara's is highly recommend 4.5/5 in my opinion. I hope your experience is equally as impressive. Great food! This was our first stop in town, we had a 45 minute wait but it was definitely worth it. My husband got the cobia that was recommended by our server and she was spot on. It was delicious. I wasn't very hungry so I got the fried shrimp and fried green tomatoes appetizer. It's was so good! I would definitely recommend this to anyone in town. I just wanted to share...We had an awesome experience at Tamara's Downtown last night. I have not been in a while, and we were not sure we would be able to squeeze in after seeing the crowd. However, Tamara/Tammy found us a table (even after us offering to wait at the packed bar). We were greeted by our amazing server who brought us yummy cocktails to begin. Then we choose a fabulous ahi tuna appetizer, followed by the sea bass over gouda mashed potatoes and fried Brussel sprouts. NOM NOM! But mostly, what a great atmosphere and experience for date night. I was pleasantly surprised and we will be back again soon!! Thank you to the team at Tamara's!!! read more

Very good service, and very good food! For anybody with concerns, the staff does not wear masks. They did check your temperature when you enter and I presume all the employees had their temperature checked but high temperature does not always accompany people with Covid. I am speaking from experience I did have it months ago and never had a high temperature. I do not have it now, and would not have come if I did. But I do still wear a mask and I think the employees should also. read more

Best grilled shrimp salad I've ever had. Not many places are open for dinner Monday nights in Fairhope. Those that are stay busy! I was alone and ate at the bar, no wait required. Bartender, Billy, is a crowd favorite. He made me feel welcome and taken care of. Good menu selection for standard fare and seafood. Beautiful cocktail menu! read more

I will never support this place and this racist owner again. My family is in town for a family reunion. A large group of Black people walked in and the owner proceeded to make comments that we won't tip before we even got a chance to sit down. She also came to the tables and rudely said the checks would not be separate when no one said anything about that. My cousin that comes here on a regular says that when a large group of white people come in, she greets them with open arms. You would think that she would be grateful for the business, but too bad she's racist. The waitress is nice, but I will NEVER support this racist owner again. UPDATE: We just got the check and gratuity was automatically included. Again, ANOTHER reason why her comments were rude and unnecessary. read more

Delicious food and amazing atmosphere - we went for Sunday Brunch and enjoyed coffee and mimosas, live jazz, and art decor. Had an hour wait arriving just minutes after closing, but well worth the wait and service was fast and friendly in spite of being short-staffed. Will definitely return for the dinner menu! read more

Love soup and salad at Tamara's Downtown. Always delicious and satisfying. Clam Chowder, New England style, is about as perfect as it gets. Having Chicken Jambalaya today and loving it. Pair it with an Iceberg Wedge, or Ceasar. I'm having greek today. Everything is good here! read more
