I always joke around and say this is my bakery since my name is Tammy and my friends and family love this place! I seriously come here all the time. Everything is so fairly priced and delicious for great quality and fresh food. Their banh mis are super yummy and their breakfast sandwiches are perfect for a small snack. I love stopping here before going to work cause i can grab one of the prepackaged meals for my lunch breaks. They're always fresh and delicious and cheap for a filling meal. Their bubble teas are also made with fresh fruit which I appreciate. They are a little pricier than other bbt places but that's what freshness costs! Most of the ladies and the one gent that works here are super nice, but there's always one lady who has a sour look on her face and looks angry all the time. The lines are sometimes nonexistent which results in just blobs of people trying to put in orders and pay. Parking is also a nightmare as somehow all the worst drivers in Seattle always end up in the tiny parking lot all at the same time. But it's all worth it for the bomb diggity food and prices! I have to start with I've been coming here off and on just because there isn't a wide selection of food options near my work. I like the fact that they have premade food ready to purchase, but I don't like their 2 sides/2 cash register process. If you buy food on one side you must pay there and same for the other side. No bueno! Such a hassle! On top of that staff that work there are not friendly especially if you're not Vietnamese. Legit banh mi If you want a banh mi that's loaded with juicy meat, liver pate, and fresh veggies, on a fresh loaf here you go. Meat to bread ratio is about 1.5:1 meaning you'll have sufficient meat for the amount of bread. I used to go to Tony's Bakery but they are stingy on the meat and I think everyone would prefer more meat in their mouth. I'm not a big fan of processed meat or bbq pork but even so I recommend the Banh Mi Dac Biet (#1) which is the combo of meats. The combination with the liver pate is AMAZING. I usually buy a bunch and just eat the rest the next day because I'm kinda addicted. All you need is a toaster oven and a microwave. FYI. First off - I have been here more than 5 times and each time something just doesn't live up to the expectation that it is the food of someone who knows what the heck they are doing. First time - my combo ham sandwich did not have a lot of meat. It is called "special" for a reason! And I think they charge 50 cent more than everywhere else! Second time - the banana Che was weird, the banana was not soft enough...ok people ...if you can't cook banana Che, you need to fix something. Third time ?? - my coconut jelly (rau cau) was not as flavorful as it should be! But what is good about here? Convenient when you are eating bbh at restaurants close by. Lots of options for everything and if you got a white friend/spouse, they will think it taste just fine! Not sure what is happening to this place. This use to be the go-to deli of all Vietnamese delis in Seattle but after my last trip, I feel the place is slipping. Maybe because of the damage inflicted by the pandemic but the selection is smaller, staff appears indifferent/disconnected, and prices are very high. I got the chicken on yellow rice combo with a iced Vietnamese coffee. The total came to $16.00 for just two deli items. I used to get several items for under $10. I realized inflation is hitting businesses everywhere now but didn't realize deli takeout cost as much or more than restaurant prices. Their sandwiches are $6.00 now. This place has gone down hills after the years. The quality of the food is poor, but the prices has raised more than 50%, shouldn't the quality come with it? We bought a cake from them, and it seemed like they just threw flour, eggs and icing together and slapped a 50 dollar price on it, for a small cake. The design is horrendous, like they didn't even try to make the cake look cute for 50 dollars + tax. Best fresh bread in the banh mi business! The meat was just alright, not as good as Saigon deli BBQ pork meat. And I would prefer more pate. But if u think the bread is the most important part of the sandwich, then this is it! Service was good. Growing up in South Seattle, Tammy's was one of my go to favorites. Now that I live further, I've found other alternatives. With that said, I just so happen to be in the area for work so I stopped by. I got the pork banh mi, 3 pork egg rolls and the Vietnamese coffee. The pork banh mi was filling and delicious! The baguette was crunchy and flaky. It had the right amount of fillings and the pork was seasoned well. The pork egg rolls were also great but way to oily for my taste. The Vietnamese coffee was STRONG but tasty. Definitely a must try when you're in the area. Please note that the deli/bakery side to the left takes cards but the bakery to the left takes cash only! They charge $0.50 if your purchase is under $10.00 when using cards. Parking can be a hassle as the parking lot is small. read more

I've been in once a long time ago but my recent visit got me a pork combo banh mi and that banana dessert thing (the pink-toned banana in middle and golden brown outside); I've only had this banana dessert thing at ChuMinh Tofu and prefer theirs (Tammy's banana seemed to have had a higher moisture table and less flavor). The ladies are nice, though, and I sort of like the casual way of things. They have plenty of stuff to look at, be curious about, ask about and wonder how someone could eat certain things (weirdos, all you are! lol). I'd go back and try out any rice cakes, if I saw those (I love rice cakes... whether it bibingka (Flip), Japanese rice cakes, Chinese mochi yummies, Korean RC, etc. Yum. A lot of good bakery items and I used to love coming here. But the last two times I went there were small cockroaches on the counter. I still ate the food but it gives me the creeps to think about going back ever again. Two times is way too many to see cockroaches at a food establishment. I really wanted to like this place because it's close to where I recently moved. However a couple weeks back made me not want to come back ever. 1.I came in at 8:00am to pick up some food with my sister I see they had some of the fried food and bought some to eat later. I took a bite in the car and noticed instantly it was cold and it seemed old. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt maybe I came too late? They do open at 7:30. So I pop it in the microwave at work and instantly the food smelled terrible! As if it was rotten I was grossed out and tossed the rest. 2. They have a confusing system where I guess you pay for hot food on one side and prepared food on the other. Issue is on the prepared food side they don't take card and when you try to pay she will tell you to go to the hot food deli side, even though the lady on that side said you can't pay for prep food there. My sister had that issue so I told her just pay with my food so we handed the lady my sister receipt and paid together all is well right? No all of a sudden the old lady start yelling at my sister and tried to grab her card out of her hand because she didn't think my sister paid for her food. That's a no for me dawg. This definitely a gem in the South End. If you're ever craving a Banh Mi or Bubble tea, go here! They make all of their sandwich made to order and the bread is soft. The paste they use on their banh mi is perfect! Not too much, not too little, it's just the right amount aaaannnnnddd they don't put hella jalapeño like other places, so my mom loves that about them. Their Avocado bubble is made with FRESH avocado, none of that powdered stuff! It's hard to find a place that has fresh avocado bubble tea, which is why I will go here just for that! I got a Banh mi from here and my first bite in I noticed a weird texture only to find that one of the cucumber slices my banh mi still had the produce sticker on it which led me to believe that the cucumbers most likely weren't washed. It was literally the entire sticker. The chicken in the banh mi also had an old taste/smell to it. On another note, the coconut water with pulp in it is literally the best thing on a hot summer day! Rollin' down the street eatin' banh mi, sippin' on taro boba... ...laid back, with my mind on coconut jelly and coconut jelly on my mind. They have food stuffs that I can't pronounce, but oddly know what ingredients are in them. In addition to banh mi, they have a hot case full of delectables which I still have yet to try because I'm usually here for a lil something sweet to nibble or drink. They have a huge variety of colored rice cakes, black sesame cookies, even moon cakes. The refrigerated section is pretty impressive with a rainbow of refrigerated, jellified yumminess. The big surprise that I come back here for are the boba teas--and the multiple varieties they come in! They use fresh fruit in their smoothies, which not only cuts down on the fake sweetness that some other places have issues with, but it just tastes better, of course! I come here for bubbletea and a little snack like their meatball skewer stick thing. They have other drinks like the traditional sugar cane. There's also other non freshly made drinks like canned soy milk. It goes great with banh mi, unfortunately their banh mi here isn't my favorite. I would pick up their packaged meals when I need actual food, it's better than the banh mi. Parking lot here is terrible and chaotic, it's located in a Vietnamese shopping center so figures. If all fails, park at the parking lot on the opposite side and walk, and if that fails too, there might be street parking unless you want to walk even further to park at the ghetto Safeway's lot nearby. Once confronted, the owner said they have been doing this for years and does not want to argue. During this pandemic, or any other time, this is disgusting. Tammy's bakery did an amazing job on our wedding cake! We brought in a picture and they mimicked it perfectly. The first time we met with Julie the owner, she sent us home with at least 6 different cake samples to try. Price per cake was rather reasonable and we were able to mix and match the layers. They delivered the cake right to the restaurant and even called a few days prior to confirm with us. Usually it's the other way around. Everyone complimented on our cake and I'm sad we only got to taste it when we cut the cake. Way better than Mimi's Bakery down the street. Better in price, service and quality! Times are a changing I've been going to this bakery since about 2004 (I think it's that old or older). I went recently and wondered how long ago they actually gave this place a good scrub. I used the restroom and there was no soap. Does that mean the staff don't wash their hands after going?? This is the first time I've ever had spring rolls with brownish lettuce. It was the best option of the slims pickings in the later afternoon. The food and the cleanliness are down the tubes. I have a lower bar in general for these bakeries but this went way below. Tammy isn't a bakery like my Dad used to take me to every Saturday for doughnuts. You won't find sliced whole wheat there for peanut butter sandwiches, or those big bitey sugar cookies in fun shapes with that hard, colorful bakery frosting. Nope, Tammy is a Vietnamese bakery. Not everything is labeled in English. Not all the staff really speaks English, either. It's like Uwajimaya, but without the big clams. It's an adventure--hang on! You won't find all the old-fashioned American staples, but what you do find, you'll enjoy. You'll find cream puffs and slightly-too-puffy baguettes (but certainly much better than Safeway's, which is the other choice in this neighborhood). You'll find excellent banh mi (get brave and move beyond chicken!) and scary gelatinous bean desserts. You'll find bubble tea, a variety of hot entrees, and very light, fruit-filled cakes. There might be a muffin or a cookie in that case, but skip it. Stick with the Vietnamese/French stuff. I'm not sure I'd make a trip from another neighborhood just to go to Tammy, but if you're in the area (and more and more of us are moving south these days, for the diversity and home-ownership opportunities), it's worth a stop. Typical Vietnamese deli that sells hot foods, sandwiches, bubble tea. They do make huge platter size batches of popular items such as bun cuon if you plan on picking some up for parties. These are ready made and are sitting outside on the counter. If you don't eat your sandwich right away, it's best to put it in the toaster oven before you eat it as the bread will be perfectly warm and crispy. read more

This place shuts it down. There is one Vietnamese dish they make that no other place in the area makes. It is Banh Uot Coun Thit Noung, what this is a rendition of a spring using grilled pork and wrapped with chow fun noodles. If you are a grilled pork sandwich fan, this takes it to the next level. They usually make a few of these plates a day, but you can call ahead for the morning of for an advance order for $1 a roll. Man... Another dish that separates them from the pack is their desert - Che' Ba Mau which is a mixture of red bean, some yellow bean, and coconut milk. First they serve in a solid size 14 oz cup oppose to the 6oz cup of other deli's. Just the right amount of sweetness to give a blissful bit in every scoop. This is about $4. Sandwiches are good, your not eating too much bread per bite, a lot to choose from. Lots of other a la carte dishes and variation of spring rolls, I dont get bored unlike the other deli's. Bottom line this place brings it, and if I could I would franchise them. Downside is I live close to the other deli's but Tammy's is worth the drive. read more

This pains me to have to give a mom and pop store one star but I feel my story needs to be heard. On Saturday I ordered a taro slushy without tapioca. The lady repeated my order in English which I felt confident that they would get it right. When I got my order, I look at it and it didn't look like it had the slushy consistency that I wanted and it had tapioca. The tapioca wasn't the deal breaker and I was fine with it. I told the lady about the slushy issue nd she assure me that it was. When I went back to my car, I tired the drink and she totally lied to me. I was contemplating going back but I know better from working in the restaurant industry and know how Asian people operate. I couldn't take my drink back because I felt like they would have either made me an half-ass slushy drink or did something shady to it. I really like this spot because I go there for there great value in Banh Mi but damn, I know better to not get the bubble tea slushy anymore. Whenever I'm in the MLK area I try and stop by here for cheap eats. They have a wide variety of snacks to choose from. You can get a banh mi made to order, ready made eggs rolls, pork balls, sweet steamed rice cakes, savory rice rolls, savory crepes, flan, garlic peanuts, breads with meat fillings, sesame balls filled with mongo beans and coconut and so much more that I cannot remember. Everything always looks so tempting. I love Vietnamese iced coffee and I usually get one here. Some days I get a craving for an avocado smoothie with boba. It is made with real avocado here and is so good. The boba here is cooked the way I like it, nice and soft with enough chew to it. At some places it isn't cooked very well and is hard. Sucks to say but Tammy's is no longer my favorite spot. I used to love coming into Tammy's to get their fresh food as well as their banh mi. But lately every time I come I've noticed that their fresh food really isnt fresh and always tastes sour so it's obviously gone bad and wasting 5+ on each fresh food for it to come out bad and sour totally sucks. On my never-ending quest for the perfect Banh Mi- I recently visited Tammy's Bakery and think I might have found my new favorite. Their grilled pork with pate is to die for. Affordable, large, diverse in fillings- I think Tammy's has one of the top five Banh Mi's in Seattle. I believe what gives them the edge is the fact that they are a bakery and make their own bread. You're guaranteed a fresh French roll for the Banh Mi- which makes a huge difference. For so many Banh Mis- the bread is where they fall short.
