Probably my second time going to this bakery/deli to get some Vietnamese food. This time, bought a couple of Ham and Egg Sandwiches, and some dessert rice cakes. I've been going here for 15+ years. It's a staple in the community but the customer service leave little to be desired. I went in for sesame balls but they didn't have any so I ordered their Chè Đậu Trắng (Black Eyed Pea Rice Pudding) and she was hesitant because she said it's to hot to put in a container. Tammy's has been our go-to for Bahn mi for many years. It's always a sure bet. Not fancy, but good and a solid value. Good selection and tasty food. Normally I would take photos but a. was hungry and b. pretty sure y'all know what a Bahn mi looks like. :) There's a big parking lot so you don't have to typically go searching for street parking which is a plus as well. This is my first time eating at this establishment and it's A-ok. I tried 2 different kind of rolls -shrimp and the pork (nem nuong). The shrimp one was your typical summer roll - lettuce, basil, rice noodles, shrimp halves (4 of them per roll). I'm glad to say that the shrimp is not black like the previous one I had in Oregon. The lettuce is cut up. The peanut hoisin sauce was more runny than what I usually like it. It made it messy to eat. Also, since the lettuce is all cut it, it kept on spilling out whenever I dip it. Also, my little one likes to eat it in the middle so that gets messy really fast. It's not so much of a complaint as it is an observation. I like the pork one which had different filling. Food here used to taste good. Now, everything is watered down and the food doesn't taste as good. What really disappointed me was how tasteless their fresh spring rolls were. The sauce they use for them is as runny as water , and for it just being hoisin , peanut butter and water , it's almost all water. The Bahn Mi didn't taste fresh either , like the veggies they put in it were old. Tammy's used to be a staple for the Asian community back in the day. I have been coming here since I was young and I love this place, but their customer service was the worst I have ever seen it to be. I was with my mom here to order some food and I decided to get a avocado smoothie. I asked for no boba, and it came with boba. We asked them to make a new one, but you could clearly see them strain the boba out and pour the same drink back in the cup. You could see little boba pieces in the drink. They then proceeded to wash their boba to reuse instead of throw away. Tried asking for a refund but they refused. Best banh mi in the Seattle area! I recently moved to SoCal and tried the famous Banh Mi My Tho in SGV area, and I STILL prefer Tammy's! Specifically, their grilled pork banh mi has a generous amount of delicious and smoky grilled pork, with crunchy pickles (dua chua), and a satisfying crunchy baguette roll. BUT the MVP has to be the homemade mayo and pâté combo that brings such a decadent umami flavor to each banh mi. I've also tried the dac biet and it's equally good. Would not recommend the fried banana though because it was extremely oily. read more

I love vietnamese deli. Who doesn't? Fresh, home made banh mi, fresh egg rolls, meat balls... so fresh. Not to mention, their fresh noodles and wraps. I love coming here because I know that things are made fresh and I can count on that. I think their viet sandwiches are the of the best I've had, and they have a more full menu now than before. It's about $3.50 for a banh mi, which isn't too bad. I remember when they used to be a buck fifty growing up. Sometimes even a buck. But the economy has changed aye? haha. They have fresh cakes too and fresh breads and meatloaf. I'm not one to try their bubble tea as it's $4... no thanks. But even though this is one of my favorite deli's to go to, I hear from my Vietnamese friends this place isn't the cleanliness. So take you choice. I ordered a sandwich before hitting the road and before I started I asked my family member to rip it in half. F*ckin before I took a bite we noticed something moving in a the sandwich. I had bought nem the other day and I am horrified this lady charged me $14 for 12 small pieces.. that's literally $1.67 for a puece of nem that is about 1 inch big.. that's ridiculous. They have lost another customer. I will not return unless they start putting prices on their items because they are bopping people out here especially with their cash only rule putting price on an item on how they feel. They lady at the register was overly rude as well. She not only rushed my shopping but snatched the items out of my hands. She and her co-worker made me felt bad for not wanting to buy a drink. I use to love going here with my husband and mother-in-law for their desserts and deli items. However we recently went again and bought quite a few desserts that had gone bad, (tasted super sour and rotten). One of the banana coconut dessert was good until we discovered hard shards of plastic inside. The food here is delicious, I've been looking around for good Asian foods and this was the place. Little did I know that this was my childhood place as well as the other markets. I love the style of food they cook and the banh mi, the to-go food such as rice and veggies, pork, fish, all the delicacies. Just tasty. My wife and I enjoy this place. The only reason however, the reason I give this a 2 star was the prices, quantity for price and quality of food, pest problem. I had picked out one of the pastries that the lady had told me was for 50cents (it was so tiny) and after she talked with another lady, she said $2.50, I was like um ok. Don't ask me why I bought it but I bought it anyways smh. ‍ anything for my wife. Anyways, the quality of some of the food is bland and too salty sometimes. Almost made me cringe due to the amount added. The rice compliments the food anyhow. Second, pest problems. I was standing at the counter waiting for the nice gentleman to help with my order and out pops cockroaches, I looked at the man, he looks at me, I look at the roach, the roach looks at me, the man looks at the roach, I voice my concerns and the man smacks it to the ground with the look on his face like "oh, you didn't see anything" (the man continues to walk away like nothing happened) it disgusted me to see bugs. Especially flies that fly near the food, yuck! Overall if they fixed that, it would make the rep that much better. I remember goin here and other stores as a kid. Good times so I'm not about to close this negatively. I am very familiar with Tammy's Bakery as it is one of the go-to deli stores for Vietnamese in Seattle, WA. I am not a sweet-food person, so everything in the deli store does not appeal in my eyes. I once ordered Banh Bot Loc Tom (Vietnamese Clear Shrimp Dumplings),and they were tasty. It is as good as it gets when it comes to Hue cuisine. I tried Banh Mi (Vietnamese Sandwich) there as well. I ordered Special Combo and Meat Ball selections. They were okay, but they no longer call my name back to the deli for more Banh Mi. Che (Vietnamese Sweet Dessert) is okay. Rau cau (Jello) is good. 3.5 HIDDEN TREASURE IN THE SOUTH END I've been introduced to Tammy's Cafe/Bakery this week and have been considering make frequent stops to the place. I shouldnt be so judgemental with gentrification areas but my first impression was eh, typical corner market spot. But when I walked in I felt like I was at a local store in the International District where I usually by my Vietnamese items. There was alot of fresh everything on the shelves and stand. I had a Honeydew BubbleTea, Vietnamese SpringRoll, and a Sandwhich with ham and egg. All items were very delicious but the spring roll had too much basil. I felt like I was just eating basil. I saved half of my Sandwhich with ham and egg (which was SO delicious) for the next morning and had a stomach ache. I gone back this week from the first time I came to Tammy's to try out their Vietnamese Sandwhiches. Everyone walking in the joint kept ordering them. It has to be a must-try item. But as I tried it I ordered the Shredded Pork and Garlic Vietnamese Sandwhich. I didn't like the clear noodles that look like worms in my sandwhich. The sandwhich itself was okay.
