She still gave me the haircut on only my promise to pay her back. (I made sure to pay her back promptly with an extremely healthy tip. It truly sucks to have to leave a bad review because I always like to support local businesses. But this was truly horrible for me. I went to Tammy's because she had good reviews. Tammy was super sweet but her partner phuong (who chopped my hair) shared little to no words to me and only spoke to Tammy. I needed a short clean up for my growing undercut. I had been growing out for 10 months and was almost able to put it up in a bun again. Phuong trimmed it the first time like I asked for a wedding I was officiating. Than I went in again on Friday June 23 where she decided to cut off my V shape (loosing a lot of my long hair from that), unevenly trimmed my undercut, and also cut off a huge chunk of the growth I was working on for NO APPARENT REASON. I never checked the back till I got home because I trusted she did what I asked. Than realized I lost a bunch of hair once I took off my hair tie. I was so devastated because of the long process and how close I was to growing most of it out. She took 10 months of hair growth from me. Nothing can give that time back to me. I am not sure how I can trust a barber again after so many bad haircuts. This was one was the worst I experienced. Safe to say don't go to Tammy's for an UNDERCUT HAIRCUT! I'm hesitant to go to another barber to try and clean it up because they may chop more of my hair off:( deviating is an understatement. read more

After moving back to Honolulu, I went to Yelp in search of a new go-to barber since I typically cut my hair every two weeks. I came across a lot of reviews about the infamous Tammy and it took me less than two seconds to decide to schedule a haircut with her. It's been six months now and three locations later, I'm still going back to Tammy twice a month. It goes to show that her clientele loves her since they've followed her to every location...eventually landing here at her own eponymous shop. She's great at remembering your haircut style and goes to work right away. I haven't gone too adventurous with my hair style lately so not quite sure how'd she react if I changed it up. In any case, you get your haircut, a quick shampoo and rinse, and a five-minute shoulder and neck massage - quite similar to what you'd find in Vietnam (where Tammy's from). The pricing is on par and the whole deal takes typically 15-20 minutes. I highly recommend any guys looking for a simple and standard haircut without too many frills to check out Tammy's. Getting you hair cut at this place is great! The price point isn't so far off and she washes your hair and give you a massage right after! I found this place on YELP and it's awesome! You won't find the pretentious setting you would at a high end salon and the cut is a bit more one on one rather than waiting around for an available stylist to cut your hair. It's right on the corner near Jack in The Box on Kinau and there's free customer parking in the back of the shop. Her salon is small and looks a bit mom and pop, but for the price and services included...its GREAT! For the 2 times I have gone to see Tammy, it wasn't ever busy and I didn't do a call in...but while I had my hair cut... There were several clients that called her to see if she was busy or available to take them. It's hard to find a barber that will take the time to give you a good cut, but even harder to find one that is decently priced and includes washing your hair and giving you a massage! I am definitely going to come back to see her. I don't know if it's luck, but I'm sure there will be a time that I have to wait behind someone else. My hair was a mess. The only difference between me and a beach bum in Oahu, was that I didn't live in Honolulu. Before people would begin offering me pity and change, I decided to get some of my locks cleaned up and entrusted the Yelp app to help me find a spot to spiffy me up for society again. It lead me to a quiet, low key Vietnamese neighborhood where I eventually found Tammy's Barbershop. There were others coming in and out and I got lucky to be seated within minutes despite not making an appointment. The place is small and seems to only have Tammy as its main barber / stylist. She's a lovely Vietnamese woman, who didn't seem surprised that I found her on Yelp. It seems many clients have found her the same way. She did a stellar job in giving me a proper fade and wash. She was super cordial throughout and was super sweet throughout the process. I asked that she take her time in styling my hair and she did so with a gentleness I haven't experienced with other barbers. She ended it all with awesome scalp and shoulder massage, which I wish lasted for longer than it did. The total cost was $15, which included the wash. I paid in cash because I didn't think she had a credit card machine. Parking was a bit of a challenge since I didn't know the street parking rules and finding a lot was a gamble since they're usually tied to other businesses. Be sure to ask for the fan if the day happens to be a muggy one. The only mishap in the entire process was a small cut in my hair part, which I had only discovered much later in the day. It was less of her fault than it was mine, in part due to my request of creating the part by manually buzzing a line into my head. This really could've happened to anyone, but I suppose I'd be mindful if I asked for it again. If I lived in Honolulu, I'd definitely be a frequent customer. The price is right and more importantly, the cut and the overall service was above and beyond. I can head to Hawaii with bad hair with the assurance of knowing Tammy is around to keep it looking good. She really is deserving of all 5 stars. read more

I explained my situation to Tammy and she was able to squeezed me in. Parking is a challenge if you're unfamiliar with the area so allow extra time and patience.
