Came here Thursday night for the first time and we both really enjoyed the omakase experience! Firstly, love the aesthetics of this place - simple and very classy. Secondly, service was great - everyone very attentive to your empty plates/glasses etc to clean up. On to the food, we decided to try 2 different types of omakase so that we could try each others. BF ordered the original omakase and I ordered the hand roll one - all of it was really good for the most part. Lobster hand roll was our least favorite but out of so many bites, I'd say that's a win. We will definitely be back!

Tancho provided a very well executed Lunch omakase experience. For Austin TX, I thought overall the flavor, quality of the fish was great and the presentation reminded me more of spots you're going to see on either coast, which is a great compliment. Service was very friendly, from the host, to the experience where two servers brought out the items to explain the rounds with my friend and I. Very bright, upscale experience in the dining room, and would recommend. I thought the courses for the bigger omakase they brought out were great. Yellowtail, tuna, all tasted fresh. Overall the VALUE too, for the price and amount of fish you got was great. Really no complaints. 5*!!

Updating my review to 5 stars due to the professionalism and hospitality shown by the general manager. Steven knows how to turn a not so great experience into one for the books. We came back to tancho for a redo, and everything was done to perfection. Depending on how hungry you are, you can choose between the light, regular, and grand omakase. Yo can also do a hand roll omakase or a la carte if you prefer. Personally, I think the grand omakase is the best showcase of their offerings. My favorites there were the yellowtail open hand roll and the tuna flight. We'll definitely be back!

It's a good affordable omakase in Austin. The omakase was $36 for 10 pieces/dishes. The rice had good texture and was well seasoned. The pieces of fish could be larger. The atmosphere is very calm and clean.

WOW! If you've ever been to SUGARFISH, you'll have to try Tancho. This is an awesome Omakase-style sushi spot just 15-20 min outside of downtown Austin. There's lots of free parking outside in the open lot, although it is shared with all the businesses in the square. Nevertheless, my friend and I quickly found spots and headed inside. We didn't have a reservation but were immediately seated. The ambiance inside is really nice - gorgeous seating and lighting with tons of big windows. My friend and I quickly settled on the Grand Omakase. To be honest, I didn't even look at what it came with. I just trusted the process! Every single dish was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. Seriously, 10/10 for everything! I highly recommend and can't wait to come back.

I had the pleasure of dining at Tancho last weekend for their prix fixe omakase, and overall it was an exceptional experience, one that earns a solid 4 stars. From the moment we walked in, the ambiance struck the perfect tone: minimalist, intimate, and focused. You immediately get the sense that the chefs here take their craft seriously, and that's reflected in the care and presentation of every course. The omakase was thoughtfully paced, with a great progression of flavors and textures. Service was attentive without being intrusive. The servers were friendly and happy to answer questions but also focused on the flow of the meal. A great balance, especially for omakase purists. Why not 5 stars? I would have loved a sweet treat / dessert course to close the evening. Just a bit more of a "wow" ending. Still, I'd absolutely recommend Tancho to anyone looking for a refined omakase experience without the pretension. It's clear they care deeply about the food and the experience--and that shines through.

Stopped by here for lunch and was really happy with the relatively affordable omakase selection! Tried the hand rolls which were all great- surprisingly loved the shrimp tempura hand roll!

Great quick date night- Omekase was a home run for what seems like an approachable price. Each successive plate had a methodical flavor run from sour to tangy to sweet with a ton of variety (fish and style: sashimi, nigiri, hand roll etc). 100% coming back again and so convenient to have this nearby. Servers were really positive as well!

Really cute sushi spot a bit outside of Downtown Austin. While it's not omakase, it's a set menu and it's a great size and paced very well. I did the Grand Omakase and honestly wasn't even that full at the end, and for $59 that was the only disappointing part. But I paid with inKind using a coupon so the meal was incredible value. I'll definitely be back to have another meal and might try some non-"omakase" items.

We went after going to f1. It was further out from the city but it was worth it. We got intrigued by the Togo set looking like sugar fish vibes at first! The staff is super friendly and the food options are easy and light. Nothing too heavy and very fresh! Love the set options! They have the Wagyu à la cart is a must!

Absolutely my new favorite sushi spot. High quality and affordable sushi with gratuity include: no billing hassles. The service is phenomenal. I requested a different table upon arrival, and they accommodated immediately. Love it! Restrooms are private rooms and very clean. Parking is easy too. Just right outside the restaurant.

Took my friend here for her birthday and we both tried the Grand Omakase ($59) which included many different tuna sushi pieces. My favorite bite was definitely the lobster hand roll with truffle. They have add-ons that you can include but we were too full to try. Nice selection of socket to pair. Friendly attentive service. This particular style of sushi is very delicate and the cuts are thin FYI

I'm not going to lie, I was slightly hesitant about going to Tancho for a Galentine's celebration. The menu seemed..."basic," from my self-proclaimed sushi snobbery, but it is new to the Austin food scene and offered reasonable Omakase prices, so I decided to give it a try. I am so glad I did because I had such a good experience! Let's start with the ambiance. My friend and I went late on a Tuesday night, around 7:30PM. There was no wait and the restaurant was about half full. The decor looked very modern and minimalist. The lighting was dim, which gave it a romantic vibe. The menu has 4 options: Omakase, Grand Omakase, Light Omakase, or Roll Omakase. Although, you can also order items a la carte. My friend and I opted for the Grand Omakase ($59) because we thought we should treat ourselves for Galentine's. And it did not disappoint! Looking at the menu, it served all your basic tunas and salmons, but the flavors did not disappoint! My favorites were the Tuna Flight and Lobster Open Hand Roll. We also ordered the Scallop Nigiri a la carte ($9), which came with 2 pcs and was very fresh. The sushi to rice ratio was perfect and of course we had to get a bottle of wine. At the end of our meal, we spent about $200 with tax and tip, so not too bad for an omakase experience. My only suggestion for an upgrade from Good to Great would be to include a rotating course in the Omakase menu. Maybe a seasonal chef special. This way the menu would be everchanging, enticing me to go back, and maybe venture beyond salmon and tuna.
